Good luck with saving your plant, it can take much longer in Winter and may take 6 months or more to root but should still root in time, thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful plant powered weekend XXXX

Hi Shelby, once the roots have formed you can water when the soil has completely dried out in the pot, from Spring and Summer its usually about 2-3 times a month, but in Winter its best to keep them mostly dry with only a light watering about once a month, good luck with your Sansevieria and thanks so much for watching XXXX

Hi there :-D yes if there are still roots left its possible that new shoots can form from these roots, as these roots can sometimes be little tubers where new shoots will emerge from, I would repot the remaining roots into fresh very well draining succulent soil and keep on the dry side, water just enough to dampen the soil and then allow the soil to fully dry again before lightly watering again, keep the pot in a very bright position but away from direct sunshine, Good luck and I hope it works for you, thanks so much for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle for a sunny Sunday XXXX

Hi there, If you started your Sanseverias from cuttings its normal that the single outer leaf from the original cutting will shrivel and yellow as the new growth takes over and this is normal and no need to worry, but if you got the plants as young babies it may be best to remove them from the pots and check over the roots and if the roots and other growth looks healthy with no signs of rot, I would leave them but keep an eye on how they get on, if its just one leaf on the outer side you may not need to worry about it, but if it looks like it could be rot that is spreading to the whole of the plant/s I would separate them and cut off any healthy parts to re propagate as cuttings, I hope they will be ok for you, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon Thank you for your response! Greatly appreciate it! I bought my sansevieria originally from a nursery, so not from cuttings. I stupidly put them into a pot without any clay rocks or better aeration at the bottom. I've been doing more research & spent a lot of money on different items so I can re-do them. Is it safe to re-pot them after only about a month? Or should I hold off and wait? I've since cut off the yellow-shriveled leaves. Before I re-plant them in better conditions, should I do the 1-1 peroxide/water "wash" and let it sit for about 5 days? I saw somebody else mention this due to root rot but it wasn't for a sansevieria plant. These are my 1st babies. I'm really new to this whole plant parent thing. I just wanted to take care of them & give them new homes, but it seems I've put them into danger. :(

@@pandagiri Thanks so much for sending the link to the photos of your beautiful Sanseverias, the very good news is that they are PERFECT, and there is no need to worry at all because the very lower leaves do this as the leaves naturally go yellow and dry off, you did the best thing to cut off the yellow leaves and I do this to mine too, but the plants them selves are PERFECT, and looking close up of your plants there is no signs of rot from the base at all, and your plants are happy and healthy, I would not worry about repotting them but if you wanted to change the soil of them you can do it now, if the roots are ok you can pot them up directly into the new soil, and keep them unwatered for the first week to allow them to acclimatise to the new soil, but if the roots have rotted you can do the peroxide water wash, but this is not necessary if the rots are all ok, your Sanseverieras look perfect to me

Plants can be so strange sometimes I agree

Ariel Mizrachi mine have always started with only one leaf getting mushy. Then they all slowly turn that way 😢 I’ve only thrown out one snake plant, and I’m working on saving the one that is seeming like it’s rotting now! Hope it works!

Hi Heidi :-D yes you can also root the cuttings in the water method too, let the cuttings sit and dry for about 5 days and then place them in a container with about an inch of water at the bottom, keep the cuttings in a bright position but away from direct sun and change the water every 3 days and they should root in about 4-6 weeks, both the soil method and the water method works, thanks so much for watching and wishing you a wonderful plant powered day XXXX

Hi Rose, so sorry to hear about your Sansevieria, I think that the glass container without any drainage holes encouraged too much damp for the roots, these plants like to be grow in a very well draining soil mix and the soil mix needs to dry out fully before watering again, let the roots dry out completely and then re pot up in a very well draining cactus and succulent soil mix and in a pot with drainage holes, glass containers are a death sentence for these plants and sadly used just for the sale market, Good luck with your Sansevieria and thanks so much for watching and have a wonderful plant powered Sunday today XXXXX

The leaves are still retaining their color even at the bottom parts but theyre just really soft and weak and very waxy at the base

Hi Carmen :-D the good news is its a good thing, the greener the better with Sansevierias because they have a tendency to go on the yellow side when given either too much light or not enough light, if yours is dark green thats a good sign also some Sansevierias are darker green than other varieties are

Hi Ian, what you would be best to do is to lay the cuttings on their sides on top of the soil, and then the roots will grow from the right side, I have cut Sansevieria leaves into 1 inch pieces and lay them on top of the soil and they will still root from the right side over time, the roots will grow down and the new foliage growth will grow upwards and the cutting leaf will die off over time and the new baby plant will take over, good luck with the propagation and thanks so much for watching XXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon is it normal for every cutting to be become slushy after a week in water. So far, I've lost 3 cuttings. I'm down to 3. They all start to get slushy after a week.

@@stallionoftheyear4376 Hi there, so sorry your cuttings are going slushy, I wouldn't put these cuttings in water as they will rot, they need to be potted up in totally dry soil once the cuttings have callused over and dried at the base of the cut for a few days, and once they are planted in dry soil only water mist them with water on the very top of the soil until they have rooted, XXXXX

@@desertplantsofavalon I didnt let them dry before putting them in water. I also, completely submerged them in water. this time I let them dry for a day before putting them in water and im keeping them in shade. I kept them in direct sun light at first.
