Love your videos, Claire! I watched the one about root rot, because my FLF is dropping a lot of its smaller leaves. They are light green to yellowing, but my plant doesn’t have any of the brown spots you mentioned in the video. I’m thinking it’s getting too much water maybe, but not root rot? Any suggestions? It gets bright sunlight most of the day and no drafts. Thank you for any suggestions you might have!

It might be a lack of light. Make sure it is sitting directly in front of and up against your brightest window. Even a foot away from a window is not enough light for them to thrive. Water when the top inches of soil are dry and ensure the light drains really well out the bottom drainage holes. Happy Growing!

My fiddle is getting taller and taller instead of enlarging it’s leaves. Should I prune and get new branches and form. Can you make a new video about that. Regards.

You can definitely prune at the point where you would like new branches to grow. Remember to prune at the height where you want the plant. Once you prune, the main stem will no longer get taller, but the branches will. Happy Growing!

Just found your page…thank you. is it safe to repot a FLF late November?

Yes, I believe a plant can be repotted at any time during the year as most homes are consistent in temperature / light for the most part. After repotting make sure to water thoroughly so the water drains really well out the bottom drainage holes. Then leave the plant to recover right up against and in front of your brightest window for maximum light.

I grew a fiddle fig from 3" to 5'. I had it on a plant stand and it grew to the ceiling. So I have finally cut the top off so it can branch out (it's one long stalk at the moment). I am going to start cutting the leaves from the bottom, and work upward (noted a comment that no more than 10% should be pruned at one time). What I want to know is if I can dry the leaves so they retain some color and not break apart, then create some arrangements with them. Anyone here know the answers to my question.

Congrats on your thriving fiddle leaf fig! Pruning and removing some of the bottom will create a beautiful tree like shape with the full canopy on top. Great job! If you dry the leaves unfortunately they will discolor, become brittle, and being to curl. If you trim off the leaves, they will look pretty for a short amount of time, but without water, they will begin to dry. Happy Growing!

How can I get rid of spider mites entirely?

Keep using an insecticide spray regularly until new growth comes out clear of any signs of spider mites.
