This type of repair comes from years of experience and Steve knew exactly the problem and solution for this customer. I'd like to know how much he's gonna save in fuel costs this year compared to last year. Good job
This is a great example of listening to a skilled tradesman. May be a bit of expense initially but I expect in the long run it would save a lot of $$$$ in oil costs. Good tradesperson is worth their weight in gold.
learn something new every day watching your videos, I had no clue what "draft over fire" meant but now I have a decent understanding... seems to be something rather important to be controlled by the weight of a knurled nut, but it is what it is Steve Lav is a REAL workin' man ya'll, ..keep up the great work
Hello Steve, Greetings from Colorado. I live in a rural area, not any close tradesmen, so I have to take care of problems myself, I have learned a lot from you. Thank You so very much for your videos, they have made a big difference in my life.
hi steve adjusted barametric damper but draft over fire i cant get past zero got same gauge you got its ,04 on the damper but reads o over fire if i close air it will go to .02 but flame is smokey in inspection watched your vids all the time i got that gauge from supply house today about 120.00 dollars hope i can get to figure things out take care thanks for all your nice videos
nice Job Steve. I think a lot of techs would not be concerned about correcting that draft and trying to save the customer a few bucks. Mollies good company she seems to enjoy the ride your giving her a great life.
Only reason I'm watching is because it's Steve if been doing hvac for 24 years never worked on a boiler ever lol I gess boiler not needed in louisiana lol go Steve
He used a Bacharach Draft Rite. He failed to mention that draft is negative for a residential oil burner. If the needle went to the left, that would be positive and fumes would be leaking into the house, very bad. He did not bother to measure draft in the breach which is draft as smoke enters the chimney and he did not measure smoke number either. Overall, this video is somewhere between a C- and D+.
I have a situation where, in cold weather, the draft is such that the damper opens as far as it will go. I assume this causes the draft into and through the boiler to increase over the desired draft but I've never tested it to see. Guess I will do that this winter to see how much it increases. I'm wondering, if there is any acceptable way to decrease the draft of the chimney?
Is there a safe way to reduce chimney draft so that the barometric damper is not open almost all the way in order to produce correct boiler draft? Or, can you connect the barometric damper to outside air so you're not wasting heated inside air going up the chimney?
All this oil stuff you work on is interesting, nobody here uses oil anymore, although it was a popular fuel in the past. Everything by here is natural gas , lpg, or electric.
@@stevenlavimoniere I have 20 year old Axeman -Anderson oil furnace with a Beckett. i have had several issues lately but have been resolving them. Currently i have .03 neg draft at the stack but at the fire i have a positive .01 and i am getting carbon build up coming back the test hole. So i imagine top of furnace clogged? should there ever be positive of the fire, service guy said some older one did. Any insight would be amazing.
