Do you use 5 or 7mm suits please (made-to-measure or off-the-peg size), how long do you stay warm, and what weighting does that require for approx 10m dives? Any tips for wetsuit manufacturers that are tall/slim as standard? (ie 6'2"/75kg) Many thanks for any advice. Looking forward to more fun in the sea!

I use a 7mm open cell apnea suit from Picasso. I’m about the same height and weight as you. It’s brilliant - you can do at least an hour in the coldest time of year, and unlimited the rest of the year. As for weights - I don’t actually know what’s on my belt. It’s the same every time - I just add an extra 2kg for shallow diving. I’ll guess 10kg but not sure...

This was great. Fascinating. I’ve never eaten the roe on a scallop.

Thanks! It’s only half a scallop if you don’t eat the roe. It’s delicious. A lot of restaurants keep them for making soup and sauce but really they should be served with the scallop.

Dived in Scotland at last (Loch Linnhe), gathered my first ever Scallops and practised shucking with the help of yours & Grant's amazingly useful video. Get a 7mm suit you said, another invaluable tip!! Addicted to winter scalloping now.😋🙂 Thanks

Fantastic - I’m delighted to hear that! Have you tried catching razor clams yet? Also great fun to hunt and really good to eat. Often found in similar places to scallops and many other sandy areas

Yes, I've tried for Razors!😂 You used a squeezy bottle full of salt, but I obviously didn't get the technique right! Do you partly dissolve the salt into a liquid before your dives (to it squirts into their tubes)? Yours looked just mega cooked in foil with butter etc, so I hope to succeed soon!🤞 More fun in the sea soon please Tom! Cheers

@@sparker9309 I just take the salt as it is. Because the sea is so salty it doesn’t really dissolve the salt so it stays in its normal form. You can also catch them with a knife or bare hands- also very fun! Yeah - I need to get back to it.

We`ll need to do a cooking one next that shows that smoking hot pans and incinerating the outside of the scallop whilst leaving the inside raw aren`t obligatory.
