I think it’s so important for us African American women to take care of our skin and over all health! There is a myth that “black don’t crack” and I think it’s a bit misleading! Thank you for showing us this much needed care! ❤️

Hi Nerida! I really appreciate this video! I learnt a lot from today’s video. I have a question. 👋Do you have any tips on how to clear out back acne? I have a guy friend that has lots of back acne and it has been bothering him for three years now. Some of them are brown scars spot now and some of them are tiny congested pores that look similar to those congested pores Beverlee has on her cheeks. You mentioned brown scars means there is still little infection happening in this video. So do you have any recommendations on how to treat these spots/infections on the back? And also should those congested pores be squeezed out? Thank you very much for reading these two questions!

Hi, Nerida! I’m a guy who doesn’t really have a skincare routine besides applying hyaluronic serum and moisturizer. I’m more and more interested in skincare and was thinking of integrating retinol and AHAs in my regimen. What are your thoughts on the differences between glycolic and lactic, both being AHAs? Is it too harsh on the skin to use AHAs and retinol on the same days, or was it just in Beverly’s case? I’m half Latin, half German, so I have “mixed” skin. I’m a big fan of your videos; you really help me understand skin more and more, in general. Thank you for this high-quality content. Hugs 🤗.

Fascinating. I love how thorough you always are in your videos. I have a apparently unique issue because I can find almost no information on how to treat it. I have all these small pea sized spots on the back on my upper arms and some on my chest of hypo-pigmentation. I'm a guy and the size and area it is likely is from acne which is now cleared up, likely from finesteride prescription for my hair cleared it up from lowering dht I assume. I can find almost nothing on treating this. I just have read pigmentation commonly returns within a year but it's been 8 months now and it's still quite noticeable. It's not fully depigmented and white at least. I've done two very intensive deep dermaneedling treatments at 2.5mm which probably isn't enough and hardly made a difference it's just quite the task/pain to do. Keep dermaneedling? I've read online inflammation from TNF and IL-17 contribute to reduction of melanogenesis which is I guess the primary cause of the hypopigmentation. www.researchgate.net/publication/237016942_IL-17_and_TNF_Synergistically_Modulate_Cytokine_Expression_while_Suppressing_Melanogenesis_Potential_Relevance_to_Psoriasis So I've read online quercitin and ursolic acid are very potent inhibitors to address TNF and IL-17, and quercitin also helps with melanogenesis along with ATP and tyrosine topically. Found a topical with ursolic acid and adensoine for bodybuilding. Quercitin is very poorly absorbed apparently but in alcohol it absorbs apparently far better which is good since the topical is in a alcohol base. So mixed all of those together and started applying daily since last week along with some tretinoin every few days to speed up the skin turnover. So that's where I'm at. Is there a simple way to treat it like there is with hyper pigmentation just some topical? I've read there are steriod creams but those are for hypo-pigmentation caused from a different issue. Should I try and tan? I have a 35% TCA peel I bought I was thinking might help since it forces the skin to regenerate and turn over faster, would that even help? I'm waiting a few weeks to do the peel for the topical to perhaps normalize the skin so the fresh regenerated skin is more likely to return to pigmentation(reasoning in my head). I previously tried a jessners and it didn't do anything. Any thoughts, I've found almost nothing on this and where I live it takes months for a doctor and months then referral to a dermatologist and this is just a minor cosmetic issue. It's so embarrassing I just want it to be at a better state by the time the middle of the summer at least.

You have to be patient. What you are dealing with takes time. The added items you are using can cause other issues later..... Personally, I would leave it alone and feed it nutrients to heal quickly. If it were me, i would use the the rejuvi exfoliating mask, healing gel and q flavonoid, daily:)). Thats it. My advice with our seeing it, is be patient and do not over treat:))....

Thank you Nerida for another great video and information!i had similar client couple days ago and plus she has lots of bumps (Whiteheads) on her cheeks (dairy!). I did the same thing:softening her skin with my fingers over the nose and chin and did lots of extractions (spent about 40min) but there’s still a lot. My only question is why would you recommend her to use purifying mask instead of exfoliating?isn’t it exfoliating mask better for decongesting those stubborn areas?or you worried that glycolic acid can lift or mess up her pigment on those spots?thank you 🙏🏻
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 5 лет назад
Yes, good question.....because of her delicate skin....the glycolic can burn and fry setting up a sensitive slate for me going forward with her treatment. I new i would have to be aggressive with the extractions, so i am starting gently:))

Thank you for this video Nerida. Beverly has such lovely skin. The q flavonoid is really helping with my under eye dark circles and I mix in the retinyl serum every other night but they both feel quite heavy and occlusive on my skin. I then follow up with the Cerave moisturising lotion mixed with rosehip oil. By the morning, however, my cheek and under eye area are super dehydrated even though I have combo/oily skin. Any suggestions? xx
@devon.pfeifer
@devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад
karrie sadowska are you using the retinyl serum on your eye area as well? It is a delicate skin around there, and it can create dryness, and maybe a little irritation, because the skin may not be acclimated to it, to create stronger vitamin A receptors in your skin. You don’t want to be using strong vitamin A products around the eyes. Once or twice a week is fine around the eyes, but no more, for a strong product. As far as it feeling heavy, you really don’t have to use much of the serums. I know I, myself, am quite liberal with product, but you realistically only need a few drops. So maybe less is more. What are your concerns that you want to use the flavonoid complex and retinyl serum for?
@karolinas7804
@karolinas7804 5 лет назад
@@devon.pfeifer Thanks for your speedy reply Devon! I don't use the retinyl serum around my eyes. As I've aged my under eye area is getting dryer (I'm 35). I use the eye repair gel but perhaps I need something more nourishing, but worried that might give me blackheads as the rest of my skin is oily. Flavonoid complex I'm using to strengthen the broken capillaries & ruddiness on my face, retinyl serum to reduce pore size and general anti ageing. I tried the AHA serum but I had a reaction to it (red blotches and irritated my broken capillaries) and Nerida said I should stop using it.
@devon.pfeifer
@devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад
karrie sadowska okay. Do you have the A Night Gel? That one is half strength of the retinyl serum. If you are still oily, I recommend you also use the healing gel. The flavonoid is good for your capillary concerns and rudeness. I would say you need to start low and go slow. Try the A Night Gel, and mix with healing gel, 1:1 ratio. Use it twice or three times a week at night for two weeks. Then try going without the healing gel mixed in, still for two more weeks every other night... then after a month, use the A Night Gel every night. Your skin needs to be strong enough to use these products, especially if you have a sensitized skin with a couperose condition. Eventually you can use the retinyl serum, but I would hold off for awhile on that. It is double the strength of the A Night Gel. And try using a little less product. Less is more. And then with your eye product... try layering the flavonoid underneath the eye gel... and layer it twice. It will be nourishing enough and supporting for the eye area without giving you your congestion that a more occlusive product might.

Yes, thats good you are not using the retinol serum over the q under your eye area. You need an eye gel or cream to go over the q. Use a small amount of the q.....and use an eye cream or gel every day and night:)) Do you eyes first and then treat the facial skin.

@Nerida hello Gorgeous, I just wanted to ask about the pressure you would recommend me to use while cleansing, and is it the same when you exfoliate and massage? 💆 I ask because I don’t like to use a lot of pressure but my clients most of the time as for more pressure 🤷🏻‍♀️ thank you 🙏 I love you 💙
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 5 лет назад
My cleansing and exfoliating tends to be a lighter pressure....:)) You just have to know where to put pressure and where not too:))
@devon.pfeifer
@devon.pfeifer 5 лет назад
Hello! The pressure while cleansing should be firm and confident, but not rough. Someone with pressure that is too firm or aggressive might be a little aggravating to a client... but in my honest opinion, when someone is using pressure that is too light, sometimes it can give the impression that you are afraid to touch them. When you are doing your movements, use the whole of your hand across larger areas like the décolleté, the neck, the cheeks, sometimes the forehead... then the middle two or three fingers for specific movements, or smaller areas like the nose, around the mouth, and the eyes. I know this may seem obvious what I’m describing, but touch and fluidity is very important. Be a little firmer than you normally would, and see what your response is.

Face Reality works... it is a professional acne line. I know of other esthetician’s on other forums who use that line and they have really great results. Their line, from what I know, eliminates anything that even has the potential to clog a pore. Unfortunately this gets us in many arguments, because I believe that comedogenic products are more complex that a one size fits all rule. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Nevertheless I won’t deny it works for many people.

@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 5 лет назад
Pityrosporum folliculitis is the topical yeast overgrowth that usually starts up in the warmer months or living in humid climates. Is this where you live? and is it itchy? You could try the rejuvi p solution all over the face 3 nights in a row to see if it can kill off the yeast. I would try other things while you are having to wait and see if you can get rid of it. Stay away from fermented TOPICAL products containing vinegar, mushroom and beer. If it doesn't work the doctor will give you a topical prescription. @@slimm3171
