Time to kick the nail-biting habit! After struggling to kick the habit my whole life, I've discovered a surprisingly simple way to finally put an end to it.
That’s how I did it! Bit my nails to straight up nubs..I had nubs my whole life practically and I am 28 years old it’s been almost 2years no biting! I genuinely thought I’d never be able to have beautiful nails!!!
How did you stop 😭 Its only been a week sinxe ive stopped but the anxieties im feeling right now is so bad, i have caught myself trying to bite my nails and stop but I literally feel like a crack head that's trying to quit drugs. Its awful
@@solidsnake8331 sameeeee I was like okay let’s start with one nail, but I just messed it up today. Maybe I’ll try the bandaid idea and look like a psycho but I mean I feel like I’ll have to keep them on for a year to stop. Ughhhhh why am I like this
I literally did the same thing. I was biting my nails a few months ago, and it started bleeding just a tiny bit, so i put a bandaid on it, but then the next day i took the bandaid off and was like " OMG MY NAIL GREW OUT, SO MORE TO BITE!" Bandaids didnt help me stop biting them, but what did help me to stop was looking at long pretty nails online, and then my goal was to have nails as pretty as them. Its been like 3 months since that was my goal, but since i bit my nails for over 2 years, I think the growth stunted, but im still going to grow them out, even if it takes forever, because for some reason I dont want to bite my nails because they look too good, and it makes me happy when i look at them. My nails are longer than I have ever seen them! Also a way to stop nail biting is to maybe put nail polish on, or put the bitter nail polish stuff. I tried both and only the nail polish one worked for me, because since i knew it was "poisonous", I was too scared to bite them. The bitter nail polish box said it was safe to eat, so i was like "it tastes bad but im too addicted, its safe to eat anyways", so thats why it didnt help.
This works very well I don't know about the bandaid part but when you grow your nails and it's perfect you just can't bite it off. your mind won't let you ruin your nails because it is a long hard prosess.
I used to bite my nails ALL THE TIME. But then Covid came along and masks and anytime I would put my fingers under the mask to bite my nails people kept asking me “ew are you picking you nose?” Like no I’m biting my nails. So then I slowly stopped doing it
@@danika.sage04 how do you stop? I haven't bite my nails in 10 days and the urge to bite them is soooo real. My anxiety is killing me and as bad as it sounds, biting nails was my cope mechanism 😭 I honestly didn't really my nail biting was this bad until I stopped
In my case I learned to look after my nails and I wear nail polish. They look cute and I don't bite them anymore. As you say, they look perfect, I don't want to ruin them.
The only thing that got me to stop biting my nails was when my best friend got engaged. I have to go to her engagement party and didn’t want my nails to look like absolute crap and the easiest and cheapest way to fix that is to stop biting them. I went about 10 days before I did anything to them. I just shaped them a bit with a nail file and then put nail varnish on to remind me not to bite and to prevent the nails snagging on anything.
This is actually very good advice unless you have a serious problem with it what i do in that situation is i get all the others so short so i have to bite that one so 😅
Small tip for people who are starting to get out of nail biting habits: carry stuff to fidget with it could be anything as long as it keeps your hands busy! Examples: Pop its, keychains, or even bubble wrap! I personally use bubble wrap for my sister because its pretty much free! I just keep all the bubble wrap i find and cut it into squares! Whenever i notice my sister nibbling on her nails i give her a square of bubble wrap! But please do not use the bubble wrap hack for kids under 4 or kids that like putting stuff in their mouth. Please do not use any of these hacks while driving.
Instead of bandaids, I would recommend trying a like clear nail polish, if you bite them it takes bad and that taste will be in your mouth the rest of the day! ❤
I started wearing a fast-drying nail polish that chipped and flaked into my mouth and all over my teeth in a way that was both extremely uncomfortable and very obvious (black nail polish in teeth is 1000% not a good look) Was I poisoning myself? Possibly. Did it work for me? Definitely. I reapplied every other day for almost a full month. The impulse left on its own, I was just so sick of what all the peeling and chewing was doing to my nails. I'd been a bad nail-biter for almost all 14 years of life, I'm 23 now and I literally can't even DO it willingly anymore.
Im biting my nails all the time. I cant stop and my mom tried everything on me... Im trying to stop it and every time i want bute my nails i say NO and out the hand down but it doesn't work al the time.😢
What i did was i would paint my nails, get acrylics or if i had school i would just do plain clear nail polish because you cant eat it and it tastes horrible so it stopped me from biting my nails
I try this but I wash my hands often, wash dishes, laundry, shower, and so so many other things that ruin my bandaids that I have to constantly put on new ones like 10 times a day or more and it’s unsustainable 😢 how I’m the world did you keep a bandaid on for a week
Itself gotten so bad w of my nails are gone. I have flippy parts at the top of my nail that are parts that broke off that i cant take out because they hurt some nail bitters might understand what im talking about but ugh my dad and grandma have had this problem its starting to botjer me with the amount of band aids goign threw i have ti change them because iasp wash my hands to much and water gets trapped since bandaids even waterproof ones domt work at the end of the finger i have to fix these ocds. They are controlling my life i need to get some relofe i might try putting the gel bandaids on each finger they last 2 days and i get a 40ct on amazon i will try this and hopefully i can quit before i do more dange to my nails..
My whole hand fingers got crashed with a door when i was young i had no nails left i put a bandage and it hurted like hell i wated a whole 2monthes so my nails grow back normally without infections whatsowever i had no trauma from what happend for some reasons and i started biting them again without even noticing i dont even realise what im doing till my finger tips start hurting bc i bite the skin too and i bleed i cant even write or touch anything on how much they hurt i really dont know why and how to get ride of this addiction i do it casually focused or not its not like its related to stress or jalousy as may alot of ppl say i just dont know why i do it i spent my whole life doing it !
I try not to bite or pick at my nails but when they grow even just a little I can’t help but feel like it’s dirty underneath my nails. When I bite or pick them short they feel clean almost like the skin underneath my nails can breath 😢
That's how I stopped doing it. I keep my nails in good shape, remove cuticles, apply jojoba oils, hand cream and I noticed changes after a few months. For the first time in my life I don't have any complex with my hands.
Tysm 😭😭I’ve been feeling so insecure abt it bc like all my friends nails are so perfect and long and then there’s mine I’m definitely trying this Tysm 😭😭😭🤍🤍🤍
it does not help me :/ I tried way too many tricks to stop biting my nails. I just cant. If I have a bandage on it I just eat the bandage, if I have a horrible smelling and tasting chemical I still bite my nails. It's impossible to stop for me looks so far
Im gonna try this because I'm trying to quit and it has been so HARD 😭 i feel so anxious and in a way anxiety. Biting nails honestly use to calm me down but that shit is not good for you
a simple tip to stop biting ur nails is by rubbing garlic on each of ur fingers because if u try to bite it again it will taste really bad and the garlic allows for nails to grow
For men: just paint your nails with a clear coat of nail polish or rub Vaseline your fingers with something like citric acid or something really bitter.
Then you’re like oh well might as well finish them off that way they’ll all be the same length…😅😢 I do this a lot. Almost every time we go to an actual movie theatre 😅
Honestly, my personal opinion. USE HAND SANITIZER. EVERY SECOND. Ok, well maybe not every second, but if your in school maybe every other class period or so. You only need one drop really, to not waste it. Yes, this is a super expensive remedy, so maybe concider buying yucky nail polish.
