Here are three ways you can stop Overthinking, overthinking is when your thoughts and worries circle in an endless loop. Instead of preparing you for next steps, overthinking usually leads to inaction because it causes you to become overwhelmed by fear. Overthinking can be an early indicator or symptom of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.

My husband calls me an overthinker whenever I express my concerns about anything. I started thinking this was a mental sickness I had. For every thought I had that was slightly stressful I would wonder if it was a valid thought or the overthinker in me being paranoid. It ruined my peace. I started overthinking about overthinking. Diagnosing yourself or being diagnosed with such things casually by others affects you. Thanks for this video

Thank You. I suffer from anxiety and overthinking problems. I will try 3 things you mentioned: 1) Writing the problem 2) Calm down body / going out for walk 3) Taking action to avoid procrastination.

Dear give it a try to meditation without thinking how it will work... just sit alone, comfortably, close your eyes & try to think only about god or any other one thing... that's it... its fine if u feel few other thoughts r cmng again & again... just try to focus... this way I got my peace of mind so thought of sharing😊

Dr. I don't know how can I thank you. You are actually gem like how can you think that much deeper. Exactly this is 7:09 what I am doing from so long time. Not taking actions towards the task and only thinking good about it and it feels like I have done something about it. But at the end the task remains the same and I take action after the deadline is about to end. You actually giving us the clarity of our own thoughts I am so thankful to you please continue to make such videos. 👍

Amazing video. Even I find a lot of relief from overthinking (usually negative) by cleaning my home. It instills a deep sense of calm and control when I am feeling powerless over a certain situation.

Nowdays I am learning English language through RU-vid, and I consume English content more than Hindi and suddenly RU-vid suggest me your video and nowadays I am watching your videos and I think I understand English but your words which you are using in your videos like hyhpervigilant limbic system. These words are new for me, and I don't understand these words meaning properly, but I go to google and search the meaning of these words then I understand, So I think your video is most important for today generation those who are going through anxiety depression etc. Because your videos is very helpful for us

Thank you Doctor, you are awesome !! Sometimes not knowing the cause of the problem is the biggest problem. By connecting the dots between Prefrontal Cortex and Limbic system, you have very clearly explained the root cause. I have always heard people saying write down the problem that is bothering you but never I was told why it needs to be written down. Your reasoning as to how the PFC takes charge makes absolute sense. This video is so helpful and useful and thank you for your service 😊

Dr sid, as I mentioned earlier before. Please highlight if we have to deal with permanent health problems or someone’s loss. For autistic parents only child is never gonna behave normal. Please highlight how anxiety and stress can be avoided in that scenario

Hi Siddharth! I completed your introduction to neuroscience course and found it immensely useful. Basics of neuroscience would be even more empowering if you learn it at a young age. So my question is how to introduce it to children? What is the optimal age to start and what exactly will make sense to them. If you plan to conduct a course on this, I would love to enrol my children. Or if you conduct a course for teachers and parents that would be great too! Also I am curious to know about the neuroscience of jealousy. Not wrt relationships. I mean in situations like when someone does better than you at work or earns more than you. Although it makes no sense, the feelings do come up and I would love to know why. Thanks in advance. Your content is moving mountains! Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

This is my first video of yours which I watched .. all that you mentioned in this video is so apt .. someone putting it out there makes even more sense .. somehow in past few years my prefrontal cortex started to become inactive than lymphatic and I continued to stay in the loop of anxious thoughts feeling helpless .. even though I started journaling to list down my fears and worries .. my prefrontal cortex still needs more power and strength to handle when those anxious situations arise .. how can we develop our logical /prefrontal cortex strength so when anxiousness hits we can switch to prefrontal for help ?

Hello Dr Sid This is a great video, as this is one of my personal biggest challenges. I just think and think but never do anything right to fix. Your explanation part was awesome, please describe a little more about treatment. Writing journal I feel like someone will read my inner voice and I would feel exposed so that fear stops me from writing. Yes running deep breathing does help but not at the point of my overthinking time, I so overthink that I end up crying or have meltdown or end with panic symptoms. Now it has worsened to a point my hands tremble in high frequency and amplitude. How to get out of that spiral at these type of peak moments. Please do advise. Thank you.

Hello Dr. Sid, thanks for the informative video, it will surely be of help for me to reduce my overthinking. I have 1 query - sometimes i am not feeling happy from inside no matter whatever I do. & A lot of thoughts are constantly going on in my mind! & i am not able to do the works/things at the right time & then regrets creep in as the night/end of the day approches. Sir I have given my neet ug this year and I have to take a drop this year but after the exam I have lost my motivation to study , not enjoying the things I used to enjoy before ,feeling anxious all the time even though I am not distraught about the result ... and each day I just try to find what has gone wrong with me but cant find. Can you suggest me any way to figure out the problem cause I cant afford a psychologist . It would be a great help.

hey i took second drop year after 12th for preparing for neet as i want to do mbbs then learn psychiatry or neuro but i was ok with just learning psychology but my parents to want me to do any non professional course i live in hyd and i will have to go to banglore for bacholors masters in psychology if i wnat to do it at that level howerve my parents are strict they wont understand i will have to work harder to beat the competition and grab a medical seat
