I have 3 straw hats and it's been 102F , in June.. which is unusual 🥵😥. I keep mine in hat boxes in my dark closet until it's hot enough outside. Glad I've been taking care of my hats decently well the sweat trick is very help tip I didn't know of . Thank you for this !

Imagine someone didn’t follow the steps you have outlined, and as a result, has a four year old Akubra Byron hat with a coating on the fibres, with a thin woven hatband and a leather trim band around the exterior. Four years of sweat has resulted on an oily brown stain on the brim’s coated weave. Any advice on how to clean that off, or tone it down? Thanks for any advice. Rob

Hey there! I would definitely steam it once a month or so to keep it from cracking. If the straw feels stiff and has a slight creaking sound, it probably needs a quick steam bath. Thanks for watching!
