Great advice as I am always looking to learn new techniques as well as I’ve been A collector of unopened material for a long time now and sometimes you just need to learn the hard way before you really get your skills straight thanks for sharing

I look for the same things when determining if the pack has been resealed. With online purchasing it is very hard since you don’t get the pack until post purchase. Thanks for sharing!

Great info, but I have a sealed bbce 1990 fleer basketball box and i cracked the seal myself and the packs have weird corners. They aren't super sharp like im used to. Pulled a few MJs

I seen one videos where cards all have sharp corners but a minor star card in the middle of the pack has a ding on one corner? I also seen a video of a 73 topps pack high numbers all cards where high numbers except one?

It's buyer beware. Even the '88/'89/'90 plastics sealed (non wax) packs can be bogus. Back in '90 bought a couple of Score hockey & instead Donruss '89 baseball cards were mixed in. Huh? Two different companies. Only buy from legitimate dealers (BBCE good rep) & at a premium, PSA graded packs.

Also most wax packs that are tampered with and ironed closed - have the wax closer and pressed harder Around the gum- instead of having a slight air cushion or soft top feel to the pack

Ryan I have a video of a guy opening a pack that I am thinking about spending big money on. Maybe you can help and let me know if you think it's been resealed

I’m new at collecting packs. I bought a 1977 Topps baseball pack on eBay for a discount because the buyer said the corners were worn When I opened it there was no gum and the seal opened very easy. I am 99% certain the pack was opened and asked the seller if I could return it. Still waiting on that one. I will report it to ebay as misrepresentation, and never buy another ungraded pack again outside bbce.

There is a certain amount of air trapped in the 1985 packs- which usually floats the wax wrapper right up to the width of the gum in pack- I can tell 100% your pack was never searched- when feeling the gum like you did in your video- the air is obviously in the pack- after opening even once the pack becomes FLAT

I still remember that feeling of air when I bought these packs back in 1986. I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm thinking of buying a box of 80s wax so I can re-live the experience of opening packs and this video has been helpful. I'm not looking to make any money from it, I never did, but I also don't want to end up with a pack that's been searched.

Alpha investments did a great video on this subject in regards to magic cards and unlike sports cards these Magic packs hold 10x the value of these wax packs

Depending on the year of the card set, at least for right now sports cards are going higher and higher. Mike Trout autographed rookie card just sold 900,000

@@onlyme7907 sir you are correct but in regards to the deck boxes. Individual packs im not sure of but from alpha to i believe legends the packs were white on the top and bottom making searching without opening easy. Regardless buying any of that now is very risky

@chlamygamine2190 3 года назад
@@onlyme7907 recall one alpha investment video buying a collection and he had some i believe beta booster packs. He straight up they're searched ill give you a fraction of what you're asking but looking at it im saying its searched. Translation they guy if he's willing to go thru the trouble take it psa and get the pack graded for resale
@chlamygamine2190
@chlamygamine2190 3 года назад
@@onlyme7907 exactly. I remember the score packs. Like magic cards the name is on the top left. Even if you know how to do it which isn't hard at all just need a good light it does put wear on the plastic. Unlike score which cards are random and more time consuming to search magic rares are always in the same spot

Have you or anyone here purchased and dealt with a card shop called "American Legends" in Scarsdale, NY. The owner is Mark Rubin. He's has an actual shop and has been in business I believe like 25 yrs already. I purchased a bunch of nice full boxes of not sport cards from him. Anyone, know of him? Any reviews or comments about what he sells? Is he legit? He said he purchased a sealed factory case of a particular Fleer non sport card with 16 full count boxes in the case. I asked if he had the actual factory case, but he said he sold it. He had left 13 full wax boxes 1979 stuff. I brought them all. They are nice, but I noticed two had some moisture stains on the back of the box. Could this be possible if these all came out of a factory case? I don't know how the actual case was stored. It could be possible that the bottom of the case could have had a bit of water damage and it seeped into the inside and effected the wax boxes on the bottom. Then again, the wax boxes I purchased are really not like highly sought after and don't fetch big money. But they do have their fans. I believe it's legit. The pack are new, no wear. The boxes are nice with gloss, no handling. Just a little compression on top from probably being stacked on top of each other inside the factory case. I'm just wondering how those two wax boxes got that moisture damage on the bottom.

Yes, I met him once two weeks ago. I purchased a couple wax 1983 test topps baseball sealed packs. Hard to go wrong with those packs as they were sealed intensely,thoroughly in plastic. Making this short. I got a good feel about Mark and his store. Like any old item you purchase, you need to thoroughly examine the item from top to bottom. The "water marks" you see may have derived from sitting on a concrete floor for a short period of time. Concrete floors do sometimes sweat during summer or moist periods of time. Every concrete floor situation may sweat differently from house to house.
