Thank you so much. I am a 66 yr old woman who tries to fix anything as long as it doesn’t involve getting on a ladder or using power tools. I was able to test and install the soap dispenser perfectly and everything works great. The toughest part for me was lining up the door cover to screw it back on. My arms weren’t quite long enough to hold it in place while tipping the door open to place the screws. I got creative with using my feet to hold it in place. Haha! Again, thanks so much you saved this senior citizen a chunk of change.

So thankful for your helpful video! The soap dispenser door had worn out and would not latch shut. The instructions that came with the replacement part were "OK" (at best), but your video explained everything exactly as it was needed to remove and replace the soap dispenser. The entire job took about 15 minutes from start to finish!

Be advised to pull the cover off the door and check the wiring to the detergent solenoid before ordering a new part. Turns out there is a nice place for a rodent to chew on wires when it is hanging out bored. Thanks for the great LG dishwasher videos. I have also had issues with the door shut switches on the top of the cabinet, on mine the connectors are very loose and any intermittency in the electrical connections will cause frustrating cycle aborts.

For the diagnostic steps: What if you don’t have a start button? My control buttons are on the top of the door. The dishwasher starts when I close the door.

My dishwasher detergent dispenser doesn’t open during the cycle, but in test/diagnostic mode the dispenser opens every time with no issues. What else can I check. I don’t want to gamble and replace the dispenser when it works fine in test mode

It sounds more of like a control board issue from what you are describing. That would be tough to test, but you could test for a voltage signal to the dispenser while the dishwasher is running through a normal cycle. The only problem is that you don't know at exactly what time it is supposed to send that signal and it might only happen for a very short period of time.

Unfortunately, LG does not sell any parts of this dispenser separately.

What can you use if you didn't buy the shims or tools or whatever you call those 3 plastic pieces with 2 prongs that you insert before you pull the unit out from the other side?

Maybe try some wood shims?

@@PartsDr Thanks. We used some plastic shims we had leftover from installing linoleum planks and some cards like debit cards or gift cards, even tried dimes. The cards worked best. When I pushed the unit out while someone else pulled from the other side, I cut my thumb so people might want to wear gloves if they push. Those metal edges are sharp.
