How to test and replace your Harley Davidson Voltage Regulator
If your motorcycle lights are dim, your dash lights go out, your engine sputters etc, this could all be possible signs of a bad voltage regulator and/or a bad stator. Here we test both to help you determine which if either is your issue. Start by first making sure your battery is good!
PARTS:
Voltage Regulator- Drag Specialties 2112-1316 (check fitment, this varies by year/make/model)

I'm watching on my bike(buell) my voltage hold at 14.2v then drop (not trickle, but drop) to 13.6v and hold there for a min. Then drop and hold again to 12.6 For a min, then finally kicking my cel and holding a voltage of 11.6-11.8v. I was thinking vr. But I have a feeling it might be the stator

That happened to me now but I replace regulator ignition coil spark plugs and the drop voltage still happend in my RGS what else I need to do??

You test the battery itself yet? I'd go to the forums too, I find a lot of help there.

Possible difference on number of pins on connector but process the same yes.

What if voltage increases when throttling up? Still voltage regulator?

Always have the battery tested first It is possible for a bad battery to cause an overvoltage even with a good regulator. After that though you'd be looking at the regulator.

To test the stator, one probe goes in each of the two or three holes you have on the end of the stator harness one at a time, the other probe is grounded to the battery or frame of the bike. So the ground probe STAYS grounded the entire time as you then probe each of the two or three holes one by one.
