Even if you use the iCloud restore method, the home screen would have been the same. If you see his video titled something like how to transfer data from old iPhone to iPhone 6, you’ll see that he use the iCloud message as this one wasn’t available at the time, and he had the same home screen layout when that was complete. The only difference was that the iPhone 5s that he was using had a smaller screen size obviously, then he would have had another area to put a few more icons.

did it transfer absolutelty all your photos, apps etc, even if they weren't all stored onto icloud? im out of icloud storage and im not sure if this still works since i dont think everything is on there, and im on an old phone so dont have the option for the ios15 unlimited storage feature he mentioned.

I upgraded this week from an iPhone 12 Pro to an iPhone 13 Pro Max. This activation/transfer process went by much much MUCH more smoothly than last year when I upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro. It was a nightmare last year that kept me up all night and it didn’t even transfer most of my stuff! 🤬 I went nuts for days afterwards transferring things and matching my old settings. I’m glad for this year’s big change I watched this video first. I was absolutely dreading the transfer process but this calmed my nerves and gave me good tips. I was so happy when the transfer was complete. The process was simpler, all my data transferred over, and I barely had to tweak anything afterwards. I was so relieved! 😊

Moving from an iPhone XS Max to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. This cover the transfer of everything across to the new phone; but, although briefly spoken to, it does not include transferring the SIM in the old phone to the new phone and in particular any additional steps required since carriers often times need things like the IMEA number, and other particulars. In this case it would be AT&T. Good video instructions by the way! Thank you.

Thanks, this has been helpful. For some reason although my contacts switched over my phone works my messaging works my Photos switched over, most of my apps have not switched over though. Facebook the Lyft drive app etc. I know my iCloud storage is full but they share as much as needed I remember. Anyone know how I can troubleshoot this? Hello, yeah, I’m sure she will. Keep in mind that your older phone might be on a newer iOS version than the new one. That’s fine though, as the new one might prompt you to do an update on it. That should be easy to do and shouldn’t take long depending on the Wi-Fi connection you are using. It will prompt you before it transfers the data.

Great review of the direct wireless transfer process. I used this method for the first time in years, to move from an iPhone 12 Pro to an iPhone 13 mini. One thing that cropped up, the new phone couldn’t be activated via cellular network, and so I got an early error about that. But, since my WiFi networks had already transferred over, it let me retry via WiFi, which worked. After that, the transfer proceeded smoothly, as described here.

Thank you for taking the time to explain how to transfer everything from my 2020 iPhone SE to my new iPhone 12 Mini. I think this is my favorite iPhone so far. When I purchased the 8 Plus it was simply too big. Using just one hand I can do just about everything on this perfect size iPhone for me which is now the Apple iPhone 12 Mini. Thanks for your clear instructions. At the end of your video I see that many apps are grayed out and “waiting.” My new iPhone (13 pro) seems stuck like that. I have lots of apps and the only usable ones so far are the native Apple apps. Do I need to keep the old phone (XS) next to the new until it finishes downloading all my apps? Thanks again!

Yeah, you have to verify your phone number again in WhatsApp, but all your messages and media should be there, as when you do the data transfer, as well as downloading the apps, it will then re-download the data from within those apps.

It is helpful to be near your mac book for these instructions AND to connect the new phone to icloud if necessary. 3. make clear all the way through which is the old and which is the new iphone. 4. Also, make clear how to scan the pattern to start the process. In my case the pattern scan just didn't work so I pressed MANUAL; the instructions were clear. Glad I had my Macbook and cords close by. 5. Note that the new phone may want to update its version. 6. What about the sim card. You saidh 'anytime' but never got to it. Just a quick question… I have the 8+ and I am switching to the 13 Pro. You said after syncing all photos from one to the new phone if you delete any on the old phone it will delete them on the new phone. So instead of deleting any pictures at all from the old phone do I not touch the pictures at all and just wipe the whole phone out? I just want to make sure that none of my pictures go missing on the new phone

Was it very difficult to switch to Face ID from Touch ID? I’m concerned about learning the gesture compared to using the home button.

@@patdevine2368 The transition was extremely easy! Don’t be concerned at all. I was a bit “resistant” to using Face ID….and just used my password….for a couple days. Finally, I bit the bullet and initiated Face ID and I LOVE it! Lots of luck!

Question: I'm in the process of transferring from iPhone 10 Max (256 GB) to iPhone 13 Pro Max (1TB). I'm using the wireless method and my stuff is currently uploading data to iCloud with a time remaining of 2 days. Two days is quite some time. I'm wondering is it safe to use the new iPhone during the day and continue the uploading process during the night?

Hello thank you for the helpful video! I was wondering if there is a way to transfer everything to your new phone without transfering your photos. I have too many phones and would like to just keep them on my old phone instead so that they don't take up space on my new phone and then just leave them on the old one for backup. Also if you if you delete pictures on your new phone does that mean they get deleted off of your old phone as well? Thank you in advance :)

for new phones I don’t transfer, I do a fresh setup and then reinstall anything I might need. It helps clean out bloated apps I never used.

Technically nothing other than the amount of time it takes. If you have faster Internet, the restore from iCloud is faster. If you don’t, then transferring directly to the phone might be faster for you.
