Healthy tip while doing the data transfer. If the software is not updated to the latest version, it won't data transfer so before transferring the data on the new iPhone, set up and blank iPhone, uodate the software and then reset the iPhone and then do the data transfer. I work in telecommunications industry where I have to do the data transfer a lot and I have learned if you do software update and data transfer together it will create a big mess.

No one is talking about the second method that both iphones have to be on the same software version or it won't work. I had this problem and wasted half a day trying until i figured it out. It will not work if they are not on the same software version!!! It happened that the old iPhone 12 was on a newer software version than the new 14 pro out of the box because it wasn't bought right away when it came out and several software upgrades happened in between.

When I transferred phone to phone. All the icons transferred but they were all showing the cloud icon. So had to manually download them. Is that normal? Also new phone said it had completed and rebooted and all appeared to be working perfectly. BUT my old phone said it still had 8 minutes remaining like it was stuck on that screen.

If your broken iPhone can still access the Recovery Mode, I think you can backup all your data to your Mac or PC, after that, use your Mac or PC to backup the whole data to your new iPhone.

Go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Backup > your device backup > wait for a few seconds and select Show All Apps > turn off the apps that you don't want to backup their data to iCloud and remove all the current backups from those apps. I think using iCloud is the simplest way.

Most methods assume you have stable wifi. Which frustratingly I don't. And now there's no iTunes so all those helpful videos are a waste of time. I just got a new iPhone 15 and it's driving me nuts that there's no easy way to transfer between phones. I even tried a physical cable - with no success at all.
