Shalom.Bro. I watch this video on treating fish with symptom and some special treatment or care to bring about healing to the fish..Awesome video. GOD bless you and your family members and your aquarium fishes..❤..Amen!😊
@@davidrosenfeld9447 I didn't see this comment before! Unfortunately it was too late for that betta, but I learned to catch symptoms early and a year later I'm dealing with dropsy again 😢 it's been 3 days with this treatment and this betta's symptoms are still pronounced but he's eating normally, acting normal too. Hope it works this time.
for 40 years I couln't save a single goldfish from dropsy. Every one of my goldfish died of dropsy after 6 months and I have to replace them. What have I done wrong ? It will be a mircle if I can save them.
Will be getting epsom salt now - been using a tiny syringe to feed her orally with 3 drops of garlic water combined with a little green pea mush - but needs more help. Hope its not too far in delay. My Shambala knows I'm trying to help her, and always shows me when she moves a little better than before.
Hi Ervin.. Great video... I am in UK... the weather and water temperature is always changing..last week the weather was minus 10 degrees C ...this week is 15 ! Do i just use the water from my pond for the baths and the hospital tank..Does temperature matter if treatment is carried out in winter or summer as long as the water temp is the same during transfer to baths. .. What about feeding after/during treatment ... first up to 3 days in hospital tank maybe more, then longer in hospital tank. I was told not to feed for up to 8 days during treatment...I never feed my goldfish when it is 10 degrees C or lower Thanks
this is actually what we needed. I have watched so many videos but not showing the result. thank you sir! and also can you make a video of how to trear bloating goldfish? my fish starts swimming upside down. I even quarantine him for >6 days (feed him every 2 days with gel food) but still bloating
I use the same method for bloat.. if bloating happens very often to your fish, i think you need to change your feeding habits and also the food.. try feeding your fish with sinking pellets, enough that the can consume in 15mins.. you can do small frequent feeding than feeding in bollus at once.. you also need to increase aeration as this increases dissolved oxygen.. reduce water current as this gives stress to our fish.. you can message me in fb if u want to discuss more about your fish problems.. :)
Thanks for the easy remedy for this situation it was surely useful. Update: I used this remedy for my little friend and she's doing well and the swelling is all gone, thanks so much.

Great information!! I have just treated a Ranchu with your method and I have just put him into the hospital tank. My question, do I continue feeding as usual, if not what do I do?
Hello thanks for such an informative video. My flower horn is facing the same issue. Can I do the exact same procedure to it? R can I add the Epsom salt to his tank it's 2 n half feet tank.
Hello Jon! Thank you so much for this very great video..i need this as i deal with this kind of issue with my goldfish..... ...does it matter if i treat the goldfish with this issue at night? Because right now, my goldy is struggling to swim and its 8:48pm
Prefer doing it at daytime since i have heard from my friends falling asleep in the middle of the process while waiting for the time which may result to untoward incidents..
Hi. I only have Jungle Fungus Clear, but the directions say to leave it in the quarantine tank as opposed to a soak. Would you recommend just doing a higher concentration soak with it? And keep his quarantine tank with just conditioned clear tap water?
As what i did, i preferred doing the high concentration soak to address immediate concerns such s bacteria and fungal growth although not recommended.. we'll only soak the fish for a short period of time.. such short period won't have significant negative effect to the fish..
Very important information! Dropsy is known as impossíble to treat! I could never to save a fish (betta) wich had got it. I will try your recipe next time when dropsy shows up here (once I prefere it doesn't 😊) Congratulations for the video and thanks for sharing your knowledge. 🙏
Hi can I ask you something? Are you sure the water you used at the beginning is only half gallon? It seems more than that. May I know how much water you used?
Oo.. mataas talaga mortality rate ngndropsy.. and kakaunti lang na mga hobbyist ang sumusubok na gamutin ang isda kasi nasanay sa katwiran na "hopeless na pag nagkadropsy ang isda" which is not true..

I treated my 18-year-old goldfish for dropsy, though I wasn't really 100% sure that was the problem. Maybe the scales did stick out a tiny bit, but they don't now. It is still staying at the bottom of the tank, swims around for a few seconds a few times a day, it does eat, but there definitely is a problem with him. He is currently in a hospital tank, alone. If it ever did have dropsy, it most certainly no longer has it. I've been treating, as you do, with Epsom salt baths and the malachite bath dips. He has also been getting Metroplex and Kanaplex in the water every two days and mixed in with its food. What could it be and what else can I do for it? The large tank and hospital tank have no ammonia, nitrite, and very little nitrates, which go down with the weekly partial water change. Please help. thanks. Sarah
I hope im not too late.. in my own humble opinion, adding medicines, especially antibiotics, to fish food is not advisable unless specifically calculated.. doing so may damage the vital organs of our little fishes.. kidney damage shows dropsy manifestations.. Going back to your concern, it is expected that the fish is still weak if it is in recovery stage.. but if the fish has recovered from dropsy, thats a bit of a problem.. try increasing aeration in your hospital tank.. use vitamins if u have access...
Im sorry to hear that po about your goldfish. And you managed your pet well for 18 years, im relatively a new goldfish keeper po. And gusto ko po sana magtagal din fish ko. Can you share naman po how to take care like size of tank, water changes freq, etc. Big help po sa nagsstart pa lang ang want the fish na magtagal. Salamat..
Heres what i do with my tanks (not on free flowing or drip system): I do 25% water change twice or three times a week.. Scrape the algea if needed to allow sunlight for the fish.. I never clean tank, change water and clean sump all at the same time to preserve beneficial bacteria in the system.. i usually clean the sump a day or two after water change.. I give small frequent feeding rather than giving food in bulk.. Routine.. ;)

Hi I have been treating my goldfish with dropsy with low dosage Epsom salt (10g 20 gallon) with kanaplex for 2 weeks but not much improvement on bloating or lifted scales. Fish doesn’t seem to have fin rots or other lesions and still active and eating. Is it too late to try the Epsom salt bath now? Also in your video did you end up with more than 1 salt bath/ meth blue in the 10 day period when the fish recovered? Thanks
As you've seen in my video, my fish has already shown late stage of dropsy, although he's still active and eating.. in my opinion, it's not too late for you to treat your fish. I just did 1 round of treatment with that fish.. dont forget to have 50% daily water change to wash away water impurities..
ervin jaum -Hi I have done a couple of Epsom baths (once per day) and the bloating seems to have come down a little. However now I noticed there is sign of fin rot. I don’t have access to methylene blue so would you recommend if I put salt in the hospital tank to treat the fin rot? I am doing 100% daily water change. the other meds I have is Melafix and seachem stress guards. Not sure either treats fin rots😟
sir my betta is in almost last stages of dropsy i have bougth epsom salt now how often i should give him epsom salt bath? can i give him epsom salt baths 2 times everyday until he recovers?
I added aquarium salt to the hospital tank. Can I still do epsom salt baths or is it too much salt? I’m also using water conditioner and medicine for the bacteria
Epsom salt and aquarium salt are not the same.. epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, used to remedy some skin problems and as a gentle laxative, which is ideal to relieve bloat of our beloved fish.. on the other hand, aquarium salt is basically evaporated sea salt which when added to the tank would result to a better water condition.. I dont have concrete idea if adding both salts to a hospital tank would gain more benefits or the other way around since i only do epsom salt bath..
Need not to do it daily bro.. do it only once.. but if there's a need to do another treatment (if theres very little to no improvement at all), do it after a week.. you may add meth blue every after 2 30% water change just to keep the water treated..
Hi, great video. Treating a goldfish from my pond with dropsy. How often do you do the salt bath? Just moved it to a recovery tank today. Noticed its not happy and not eating. It was still eating in pond. See how we go tomorrow. Also, my pond fish are not beading. Its funny cause my first pond was ignored, green water, no filter, heaps of plants though and babies galore. In this pond, the water is so clear and no babies. In saying this, i am also struggling to grown plants. Water is in spec. Any ideas?
Usually they breed when theres a sudden change of temperature in the water.. at dawn, usually here in the philippines, where the water temp is lowest, they tend to spawn.. other than that, they need to be mature enough to breed.. maturity and conditioning plays a big factor in breeding..
My fish is not eating at all. Showing signs of drospy with slight scales protuding. I have placed in a hospital tank and added epsom salt to it and a scoop of kanaplex for 3-4 days now. But it does not eat. What can I do? Please help.
Hello . Many thanks for this video...You are speaking about gallon...is it american gallon ? and is the methylen blue absoltuly necessary for dropsy only ?best regards
Im talking about US GALLON.. meth blue is a very potent anti fungal substance.. it helps the fish not contracting fungal infections due to depleted slime and or lesions.. it protects the fish and aids in recovery..
this was really helpful and gave me hope for my little guy going through dropsy right now. I hadn't heard of using Methylene Blue as a bath for dropsy but obviously looks very effective, thank you! glad your little oranda made it 🙂
@@ervinjons yes I like your method on epsom salt too. Did you use any in the hospital tank or just in the bath, and did you give the epsom salt bath daily?
Uhh does this work for bettas..? My betta has just looked like this and it’s just happened but she’s quite bloated and her scales are *pineconing* I’m looking for ways to help this and Epsom salt seems like it will help but I’m not sure yet
Thanks for the good quality tutorial :) subbed. Just wondering...what did you do to treat the underlying condition? And how often would you Bathe the fish? Can you also use this salt ratio for Betta (Siamese fighting) Fish?
All i did was just this salt bath and meth blue bath.. i waited for the fish to recover.. did not need to do another bath.. i usually repeat bath if theres no improvement within 3-4weeks.. thanks for subscribing sister... ;)
@@ervinjons :) I will. I did a Salt bath today. 1tsp to 1.5 liters water. After bath i put him back in his tank (13lters) and added 1/4 tsp of magnesium salt to the whole tank and some fresh garlic juice. He seemed to really do well in the salt bath. He was there for about 15 minutes. Tonight he is more active and even ate some blood worm. See how he goes. You have to try give him a chance. I will do this daily bath now for as long as needed and change his tank water halfway daily. ps you have given some good advice here, and it has encouraged me. Thank you so much.
So the Epsom salt bath is a ratio of 4 tsp Epsom salt to 1 gal. water. What is in the recovery bath and what do you put in the hospital tank. Also, what do you feed the sick fish with? I heard one feeds fish food soaked in a tiny bit of water with 1 scoop of Focus and 1 scoop of Kanaplex, as well as putting 2 scoops of Kanaplex and 2 ml praziquantel in the 10 gal. hospital tank. Does one add more to the tank when making water changes, to the changed water ie. the 50% new water one makes as a daily water change? Thanks so much.
Yes, thats right.. 4tsp of epsom salt in every gallon of wster.. with what im doing, i use clean water, nothing else, for my recovery bath.. then, if needed for skin and fin lesions, i do methylene blue bath.. i use clean water for my hospital tank, nothing else.. with 25% daily water chage.. Those medications that you've mentioned are antibiotics, if im not mistaken. Im not using antibiotics since it is not an over the counter drug, which needs doctors prescrition, and i am not a vet to know the exaxt amount of dosage to give to the fish..Yes you can use those BUT WITH EXTREME CAUTION.. you need to have the exact amount of medication to give to your fish with the right dosage, right frequency and time.. antibiotics are not single dose.. we dont want the bacteria to develop resistance to medicines and we dont want organ failure due to self medication.. best thing is to consult a vet if you plan to use antibiotic medications..;)
@@ervinjons OK, thanks. So not even a water conditioner for all the chlorine/chloramine and other additions that come already in the water from the sink?
@@mopsiecalopsie im using an artesian well so theres no chlirine kixed with my water.. you can use anti chlirine and other water conditioner if you're using treated water..
@@ervinjons I am in Brooklyn, NY and sometimes when I open the kitchen tap, the water smells like a public swimming pool, that's how much chlorine is in there. I can't use such water in my tanks without using something like stress coat or some other de-chlorinator!
Hi, dropsy look has gone. However, fish still has these white pieces of like loose skin attached to its head. Fish is eating and swimming. Looks very happy. Not sure how to get rid of the white lumps. Very small. Not like pimples. Thoughts?
We use liters, so can you tell me how many liters the half gallon is ? Plus can you tell me for how many days the treament should last if i apply the medicine in the main tank. Thanks
1gal = 4 liters 1/2 gal = 2 liters Use spare tank (hospital tank) instead of adding meds to your main tank as meds disrupt and kill beneficial bacteria leading to ammonia spikes.. This treatment lasted about one month till recovery.. if your treatment does not show any progress, repeat treatment process..
Welcome bai.. hindi na po ako nakapag re-treatment sa kanya since maganda yung respinse nya sa initial treatment and nagtuloy tuloy na and gumaling.. it took almost a month bago ko napansin ang positive progress nya.. and it took almost 2months bago siya nakarecover.. ill post an update on that fish soon po..
Wala pako katry bai.. pwede raman cguro.. pero maapektohan ang quality sa imong tubig nig butang nimo sa daphnia kay patyon sa meth blue ang good bacteria sa imong tank..
Hello, will this kind of treatment be also used for arowana? Mine has signs of dropsy and breathing heavily might be due to the bulging scales, my arowana is 10 inches long
Hi, thank you so much for the video. Today i notice that my fish have a mild dropsy. But i cant find anyone selling epsom salt with saline laxative. Should i mix it with different saline laxative? And may i know if the epsom salt need to be food grade ? Thank u
Look for epsom salt (MAGNESIUM SULPHATE).. magnesium sulphate is a natural laxative.. be sure to purchase the unscented as scented ones are used for skin scrub to treat skin diseases..
After the treatment. Will I put the fish back to its tank with new water? Or should I leave atleast 1/4 of the original water and add new water? Thank you!
You can usually see: -puffy eyes -raised scales -lethargy -no appetite Do not fear.. the only way to learn and experience is to try.... happy fishkeeping, brother..
My most beloved fish has Dropsy. I hope thats the initial stage. He's 3 years old. I've put him in a hospital tank, just now. Will Stop giving him food. Maintaining a temperature around 80°F. Using Metronidazole. Using Methylene Blue. Using Epsom salt. Will change the water every 2 days. I can't think of me, as a fishkeeper without him. Ive been in fish keeping hobby for 15+ years, and he's the most important one for me, ever. If anything happens to him, i will never keep a fish again. Please help me. What should i do now? My mind isnt working right!
First you say 4 tsp of epsom salt per gal. Then you go on to put 1 tbsp for half a gallon. So, which one is it??? I've just done 4 tsp per gal but don't think it is enough now.
Yes.. 4 us teaspoon = 1.33333 us tablespoon.. i just adjusted a little bit since i have already tried this formulation a lot of times, going above seems to work fine with my fish..
Hello. How about the food of the goldfish after the treatment? Is there any preferred food for them while in the hospital tank? How about the water that will be used to the hospital tank? Will that be the same water from the tank the goldfish used to be swimming?
@@ervinjons Follow up question boss, how many days na malalaman ko na kailangan pa ba e treat ulit ang isda? kasi ngayun its been 2days na already pro hindi parin bumabalik yung scales nya sa normal. Should I treat the fish again or ill still wait for how many days?
@@ervinjonsIt's not a hobby of mine at all. We got them all from my son's elementary school carnival, grabbing them from the floor where they fell, taking home the leftovers etc. My son is now married with 3 kids! I feel fish should be in the wild, not in aquariums, but I don't know of any safe place for them, where they would live their lives in freedom from tanks, in which to put them. A part of me dies wiht
with them each time one dies. Maybe you know of anywhere I can let them live their lives, aquarium free, in Brooklyn, NY, or the nearest place to here?? They need massive tanks, some are really big already, and definitely not in the 55 and 45 gallon tanks that I have.
@@ervinjons I have tried it regardless. Hehe. It actually worked! Nalessen ang inflammation sa mga mata ng aking isda. Ngayon, I'm treating it with Melafix as supplemental treatment. Salamat sa video mo! Kudos!
I don't really do social media so I don't know whether the heart means you agree., or what? Some of my goldfish are over 17 years old, at least that's how long I've had them, I don't know how old they were when I got them. I need everything spelled out to me so that I know I am doing the right thing. Please let me know the answers to the questions below. Also, does one put anything in the general tank besides Cycle and Stress Coat, such as any sort of salt or additives? Thanks.
Reacting with a heart is my simple way of thanking my viewers.. Wow! Those fishes are old.. and in my opinion, you're doing good.. fishes wont survive that long if you did wrong.. In my experience, im not using any water additives nor conditioner since i have a very nice source of water.. if tou have access to such additives and conditioners, might as well use it.. i would suggest continue what you are doing.. 17 years is not a typical life span of a goldfish.. i admire tour love and dedication taking good care of your goldfish.. salute!
