The eye part I was told is just something that comes on Tri tip it’s a growth or buildup. At work I had one that had 4-5 eyes on it. Just like you said cut it off and you’re good. Thanks for the vid

Oh yea, tri-tip...thanks for sharing the tips on trimming. I just bought a tri-tip today to do a smoke and sear next week. Tri-tip has an unbelievable beefy taste...I just subbed your channel

I love when you say make it more aerodynamic lol, I get what you mean more symmetrical. Great video, thanks for all the tips. I searched this video after cutting my fat cap off 😩
@odeed

Haha, yeah it's actually both. Symmetrical will help keep you from burning or crisping any little bits or pieces. And the aerodynamics keeps the hot air moving over and around the meat quickly. :0)

should've watched this before I started trimming myself. I really cut into my Tri-tip a lot on the top side too, mostly because the fat was really hard and I don't think it would come out nice. Well now it's dry brining in my fridge for at least 12 hours. Hit it with some garlic and pepper tomorrow and smoke it with some hickory. Greetings from the netherlands!

you shouldn't have used a chef knife from cutco to trim that it should have been a boning knife to trim the fat. I can show you the many uses of the proper knife in a demo if you would like

Oh you were being facetious in your first comment. I get it now. So as I mentioned in the video I used a basic kitchen knife, and this was done on purpose. As most people have regular kitchen knives in their kitchen, vs. a boning knife. Hence why I used why I used. But if you want to make a "how to trim a tri-tip with a boning knife" video you are more than welcome. :)

You need a smaller knife to trim easier...
@odeed
@odeed 4 года назад
Yeah I have one. But the average person may only have the average-sized kitchen knife. Hence why I used said size, and mentioned that in the video.
