@@bomberri cant recall which computer i was referring to. But i do know that if you use mismatched memory sticks, the computer will run as fast as the slowest one. So if you get a faster one but slower already in it well it runs same as the slow one. Dont think this was the case here with me bcz they weren't very different at all and stick inside was already good i think, it just ran slower, not sure why. At the end of the day its more to do with hdd, ssd would have helped. More memory is for games and opening tabs and help with doing stuff in the background i think etc. It just sucked that it seemed even slower than it was.

There are different types of RAM like DDR, DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L, DDR4...etc. Different Laptops can have different RAM types, configurations, requirements and limitations. Guesting is not the answer. Google your RAM spec's for each laptop via brand and model number or use crucial ram finder/scanner to determine what you need and what you have in each laptop.

$300 for 4GB? fuck that, I could buy 2400MHZ 32GB RAM at that price, much cheaper to upgrade it yourself, plus you can put better RAM in it.

You can, but it probably won't perform as well as a 4+4, or 2+2. Also, you need to make sure they have the same timing.

Most laptops today will automatically see your new RAM right away.

I believe the max is 16GB. Do research on your end to confirm.

Joe Hodgeson It depends on the mother board type and model you have in your laptop. Go to Crucial Memory website via Google search and run the memory scan Advisor tool. It will give you every possible memory configuration for your laptop model and the cost.

i have the same exact laptop as you there is two slots for ram...all you need to do is put in another 4gb of ram. this laptop runs on ddr3

Oh yeah btw if you buy another 4gb of RAM buy the same brand. This computer uses ELPIDA ddr3

They would be laptop RAM sticks. They are physically different.

Most likely not. Old memory is most likely a different type and will not work.

It's better to have two sticks installed for dual channel speed tech functionally if your laptop supports that, however, you will work just fine with a single stick inserted into the memory slot. fistopain679

The maximum supported memory in your laptop is only 4GB. It's not upgradeable any further.

6gb may be enough, but the processor is what makes it run faster and the i7 is good.

***** I'll explain PC parts in a nutshell, your CPU does the math, it does all the math processes so you can see your dude in a game walk forward, the graphics card gets data from the CPU or Hard drive to display it onto your screen, your CPU and Graphics cards are the Processors of your computer, RAM is memory, all the data inside of it is erased when you turn off your computer, it holds data for the CPU to use very quickly, the graphics card has it's own set of internal RAM (Usually 1-4GB), imagine RAM as data sortof on your toolbelt, it takes a short time to get to it, The hard drive is the computer's strorage, Modern computers have Two types of storage, Hard drives and SSDs, Hard drives are mechanical goodies that store data on a magnettic platter, while SSDs pretty much work like RAM storing it digitally, but are slower, but they keep that data when the computer doesn't have power, SSD's are much faster than hard drives due to them being non-mechanical (Though no where near the speed of RAM) but are more expensive and usually have less data (128-256GB Usually, though some high end ones have 512 to 1 TB of storage, but they're expensive, a 1 TB SSD would be $300 while a 1 TB Hard drive would be $50, but SSDs are becoming cheaper and cheaper every year and are expected to become more common than old school hard drives) Hard drives are where you store all your photos, videos, games, and shit, while RAM is quick access memory for the CPU to have quickly, it pretty much strores the map you're curently on in call of duty.
