I'm happy that you discussed placing jackstands to support the vehicle for safety while doing repairs and maintenance. Twelve years ago my neighbors kid was crushed to death under hi Honda Accord. He was not using jackstands. Be safe everyone.

Spot on video for us guys that rotate our own tires and do our own brake jobs. I've always jacked up my vehicles from the diffs and never had a problem, no way I'm gonna use the factory jack and use the jacking points illustrated in the manual, I'd be there all day just to jack up the truck!

Not that I don’t trust you arod but from all the forum cruising I’ve done every one says to avoid jacking from the diff. Is there a certain spot that worries people when jacking up from the diffs or something? I’ve personally been using the factory bottle jack and lifting up where the manual says to. But if I can I would love to just use a ford jack
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod

Jacking from the diff has absolutely no bearing on anything while lifting. #1 reason WHY I am not on forums is because of this goofy nonsense. There are hoists that lift up these trucks that actually grab the tubes....stay here!!!!.....NOT on THERE pal

you do NOT want to jack the pumpkin on an axle with press-in tubes (Sterlings, Dana 80s, AAMs) with a lot of load on the truck. You can distort/bend the axle tubes doing it that way where they are pressed into the carrier. Axles with drop-out chunks (Ford 9", Dana S110s, any semi-truck) are not quite as sensitive to this but still use some common sense. If the truck is heavily loaded, either get the load off or jack as close to the wheels as possible. The heavier it is, the more you'll want to use the bottle jack & as long as the vehicle stays in place, it's actually safer. Just my 2 cents based on my years of "shaking hands with danger" 🤣

Promoting jacking on the differential is insane. You are taking the distributed weight from both springs and placing it in one center point. The weight of the truck is still on the springs yet not on the wheels when jacking in this manner. This may have been fine in the days of a continuous, solid rear but those days ended decades ago. This is NOT a safe method of rear jacking with a modern, live, rear end.
