A power screed is a vibrating tool that smoothes the top surface of fresh concrete before you bull float it. In the old days, two men did this task by pulling a straight 2x4 across the concrete. It was horrible back-breaking work. This power screed saves vast amount of time and makes chiropractors unhappy.

The right tools make the job easier and more profitable. I balked at the fluke cat5/6 cable testers because of their price. I used to use a cheap $40 home Depot purchase continuity cable tester. Ended up spending hours working on replacing patch cables, rj45 jacks, only to find out some drywall guy nicked a cable that i ended up having to rerun from end to end. The fluke told me where the nick was and sometimes I could pull the slack and fix it and other times I'd return it. You never splice network cables.

You have no idea how much it saves your back. I only wish this tool had been available back when I was pouring slabs decades ago.

I definitely remember the 2+4. Fk concrete work. It's a Back Breaker.

It sure was horrible work especially with a 4-inch slump! This pour was a 5-inch slump. Like working with applesauce.

I helped a crew yesterday that had 4 trucks worth to lay and still tried the 2x4 method . . .needless to say, it was a disaster

No matter what tool you use, it's all about placing the correct amount of concrete so you have to pull VERY LITTLE with the 2x4 or the power screed. You need a very experienced person or two who can rake back 98% of the excess concrete. Too many people try to pull 2 inches of concrete with a 2x4. That get's old in a hurry.
