See how to use a chain breaking tool in this video from Partzilla.com. John will show you different types of chain breakers, including a Motion Pro chain press tool and a Motion Pro jumbo chain press kit. You’ll see why the jumbo chain breaker tool offers some advantages over its smaller cousin.
We’ll also look at a couple of different types of master links before we head to the bench and get to work.
First, John will show you how to break a chain with a chain breaker tool, and then we’ll show you how to install a clip master link on your motorcycle chain. After we get things disassembled again, John will show you how to install a rivet master link on your chain.

Just done another chain on one of my Hondas. The tip about using calipers to check your clearance is gold. Also you can measure adjacent rivets to determine how flat is okay. I have done this before but the way he teaches is better by far.

The little hand tool works just fine. Used it on a super sport, first time ever doing a chain with no problems. Don’t need to buy anything more expensive.

Great. Excellent. I got my chain from ya'll a bit back when I started my 1975 Honda CB365t restore . I'd never replaced a chain back in the days (I'm 66) on my other bikes because there were a lot of motorcycle shops then that could do it in a heart beat. Got cancer right after I started the build and work stopped...Ha. Thankfully I was able to buy most of what I needed from you folks over the times in the hospital. Great quality by the way. Right now I need to break the chain on the old one and give a great cleaning, paint engine block and frame as well as super polishing. Replacing all electrical. Wish you guys had a long oval large half helmet. Those are hard to find. Anyway, thanks for one of the best instructional vids. You guys do great on that. I may have to upgrade my chain break I bought. Question, I assume it was for video you didn't put the breaker on a vice to steady it. Thanks guys

I have a similar chain tool however my (old) chain refuses to let me push the pin out. It’s pushed it out halfway but just refuses to go any further, the chain is in pretty bad condition, it’s been daily driven in a wet climate and poorly maintained, any tips?

Beat just to buy a new chain because I once had a chain brake On a small motercycles it could lock up your back tire if it brakes and jams most chang's have a master link thats easy to pull out to take a link out of chain to make your strach out chain shorter just make Shure you check the clip that it's on all the way ,I see he has greese on the chain never use greese on a. Chain it will not pentrate the rollers on the chain I would clean chain with and good cleaner with a small paint brush and put on with cloth soak in 90 weight gear oil by hand and saturate the chain in oil and another clean cloth to wipe off any excess my chain would last a very long time With out have but very little slack up and down to tighten up to a up and down movement of 1/4 in. It's not only saves your chain but your sprockets also I learn this a long time ago from a old biker 🧝⚡🌴

Depends on how hard you ride and maintain the chain.
