Because I live in a hurricane area, these are great to have, the ones with a handle and gear have a tendency to break at the least opportune time. When you have no electricity for days at a time and living on canned food you don't want a mechanical geared can opener that can fail. Keep it simple. With Elsa we had no electricity for 18 hours, While others were scrambling with no way to open anything because electric can openers don't open with no electricity I was all set with my hurricane prep kit.
Thank you. Just got an all in one tool for my car. Ya know, break your window and cut your seat belt. And then I can open a bottle AND now I know how to open beans. After that accident I'm going to be thirsty and hungry.
I remember renting a cottage for a couple of weeks. The kitchen contained only old-fashioned can openers. We would have starved if I hadn't figured out how to use those antiques.
