How To Use E6000 Glue In Jewelry Making

Hi there. In this video I'm going to tell you all about a wonderful glue that you can use in your crafting. It's called E-6000. So E-6000 is a clear glue that is wonderful for many of your crafting and jewelry-making needs. You can use it to glue multiple things: wood, metal, fabric, glass, ceramics, leather, rubber. In your crafting, especially if you like to do multimedia, you can glue rocks, seashells, beads, buttons. It's got a lot of wonderful properties. It's waterproof and also it's flexible, and that can be important.
Here's a project that I just finished. This is a cuff bracelet, and all these little pieces were glued on. And when I put it on, it flexes a little. I try not to flex it too much, but you know, even just through wearing, it's going to get a little bit of flex and movement. And because my pieces were glued on with E-6000, I know it will move with them so they won't pop off. So that's a really useful benefit of this glue.
It can go in the washer or dryer. It can be painted. It's photo safe. And the way I like to use it is I grab a scrap of paper or an index card, and then you just glob out a little bit what you're going to need in maybe the next 5 or 10 minutes. And then seal it up securely. Try to keep those threads cleared off. And then you can use a toothpick to apply it, and notice how it's stringy, if you can see that. And it's kind of runny and stringy. You want to use it while it's like that. I like to just take my toothpick and twirl it a little, and that gets those strings off so they don't follow me to my project.
Do make sure to use this with good ventilation. It is kind of stinky. You certainly don't want to be bending over it, smelling it all day long. But if you have a fan and an open window, you'll be fine. If you need to clean it up before it's cured, you can use acetone. And after it's cured, it's kind of rubbery. You can actually use a craft knife to cut and then peel off pieces, cut and scrape. So make sure it's stringy and fresh as you're using it. And once it starts to glop up, don't use that part anymore. Just go ahead and get some fresh glue. And E-6000 is surprisingly strong, but you should always test the bond on a practice piece before gluing something where the hold is crucial.

Use Vaseline on the threads before putting the cap back on and that seals it so it doesn’t dry out and keeps the glue from glueing shut tight the lid!

Brilliant, thanks! I will also use this trick on the threads of instant glue tubes, so that the cap doesn't permanently stick.

I just glued a brooch pin to the back of a wood disc with E6000, using your video with tips on how to handle the glue. It worked perfectly. Thanks for an excellent how-to video!

Thank you so much for this video. I was apprehensive about breathing this stuff in, but I followed your lead and used an index card with a fan and good ventilation and it was all good. Hardly smelled anything and then folded the index card over on itself to seal the glue and discarded the index card, so I was good to go and the E6000 worked incredibly well. I lined everything I needed to glue up ahead so that I was ready to do this quickly and efficiently. My husband even successfully glue a broken pair of eyeglasses with success after his Gorilla Glue debacle.

I've got a broken tiara. The arches/swirls look like rhinestone chain. I tried different glues; this last time I tried to hot glue it to hold in place then added E6000 on the backside. After it dried both the wax and the E6000 just peeled off. Do you have any clue what might work? Perhaps a trick with E6000 I don't know about? Thank you.

it should only be used in Well ventilated areas. This is industrial strength, toxic.

That strong? I've got this stuff for the first time and I live with a pet. I don't want to endanger said pet, so I think straight-up *outside* is the way I'll go.

Claves Septem that’s the best option. When I first bought it I would use it @ my craft desk but after using it I would get light headed. I should of read the warnings first.

Just make sure NOT to buy E6000 Industrial strength, and that one will solidify, will not stay rubbery (so Industrial, do not buy).
