Keepa is a third party extension that provides very detailed sales history and other vital information on Amazon products for you to make the best buying decisions. They provide you with information on pricing history, sales history, buy box history, whether Amazon has or is selling the item, and plenty of other information.
When using Keep for online or retail arbitrage, one of the first things I look at is whether Amazon has a history of selling an item. Personally, I avoid competing with Amazon because they have much more room in their pricing to beat me. They also tend to have more stock or access to restock than I would have.
After checking Amazon's history on an item the next thing I would look at is the sales history. You want to determine whether an item sells often enough to make it worth your time and effort to sell it. Next we want to check the pricing history to make sure we are calculating our profit margins off a consistent price. Sometimes when sellers sell out of an item the pricing will be temporarily higher, but will dip once stock is received at Amazon. You don't want to get caught when this happens to an item.
With this information you can make a much more informed buying decision with your products then if you just bought based on current profit margins. There's been plenty of times where Amazon is only temporarily out of stock or the price is inflated for a short time period. After that the price drops and you could potentially lose money.
