Thanks Leila, I have just downloaded the desktop and the mobile app, but they dont have the flagged email feature. I tried to flag emails in MS outlook but nothing happening in the To do. What can I do?
I don't want to start my next day fresh. I want my incomplete tasks to roll-forward to the next day automatically. Is there a way to do that, or do I always have to manually move incomplete tasks forward using suggestions?
The only one that's missing in my opinion is to have anything due today and uncompleted automatically added to "My Day". So when I start my day, I have "My day" ready to do.
Correct point.. but there is option named "suggestions" where these items will be present and we can add them in my day if we plan to do today. There is option of "App Badge" for the same thing.
I own a small business and we just switched to 365 and your videos are what I provide to my staff to learn useful hints for them. They are short and concise and easy to follow.
I like the app but I would love to see my tasks and calendar events together in a calendar view so I could plan my week ahead and move things around. I would also love if the My Day section would be automatically populated with the tasks with reminders and due dates.
@@philluken5640 yes indeed, you’re right. However, this only works in the Outlook desktop app. In the online version you can only see the side bar. And if you drag a task into the calendar, a new calendar event is created, so if the To Do task is rescheduled, the changes are not reflected in the calendar event. I just think the integration could be much better. I would have loved a calendar view inside To Do where calendar events could be visible and tasks could be scheduled too.
@@ceciliala have you looked into putting your calendar and to do list on a board in the online application? That may give you what you're looking for by having multiple applications easily accessible in one view

I absolutely adore your tutorials and find them all super helpful. But with "to do" I just notice my head starting to spin. I feel more secure and efficient if I put my to dos on paper by hand. I find it easier to structure tasks in my head if I can directy write them down. But another great tutorial for people who prefer the app option!
Making notes can get very messy for me and on occasion redundant, BUT, I totally agree that sometimes turning away from the computer to the old-school analog, do it by hand version can calm my mind and actually focus on the list itself without being distracted by all the apps, emails, screen-elements. It really feels good to cross an item off the list :D
I’m excited to try this today. This channel has made me more knowledgeable. What a treat to view more ways to be efficient. Such awesomeness in Leila’s videos. Thanks.
When I flagged an email, it only links to the flagged email and not any subsequest emails that email chain? Please advise if there is a way to pick up the whole chain when I clicked on the outlook item in the To do task?
One useful feature I have found is dragging items up or down within the 'My Day' screen to personalise the order in which you want to work on things. This can also be done with in a task to reorder the sub-tasks, if required. Thanks for highlighting flagging tasks from within Outlook to make them appear in To-Do, which I haven't used before.
If you use the other version of OneNote that comes with Office 365 (vs. Windows), there's actually an integration with Outlook from there, which then integrates with To Do. I find this handy for taking notes in meetings, and making my to dos right there when taking the note, and then it does fully integrate with Outlook & To Do.
Is there any option in "TO-DO" to have a like calendar view, so that you can visit the past dates and see what you have done on that day? (Please let me know, Thanks! In advance ;)
Fantastic video. Looking forward to see the video about integration with other apps. Fyi, I'm using To Do with Power Automate. Whenever certain conditions are met, Power Automate creates a task for me. I'm really happy using it and your video gives me more perspective, different angles. Thank you very much for sharing. My best wishes from Colombia.
This app saved me from my overarching urge to make complex workflows and always end up switching to something else. It's just ENOUGH! Every list and tasks in one place and no upper limit to the number of lists you can have. It's literally so simple! For a student, tasks are most of the times very straightforward and i know what to do, just spending the minimum amount of time to plan it in MS Tasks saved me!
Thx for a great video. Is it possible to compile an audit trail of the completed taks (maybe on all who work on the same link). To see who have done what when?
In my outlook, I manage a few of my gmail and yahoo ids. Tasks pour in across gmail and yahoo ids. Is there a common place where I can integrate the tasks across gmail and yahoo ids, without having to manually enter the tasks ?
I’ve just started using to do at work and this video is much more useful and clear than anything provided by my employers so far. Thank you for creating this
Without a doubt, Leila is the best person I've come across as explaining Excel (as well as a number of other areas). No, I'm not playing favourites just because I also am a Carleton University alumni. I'm not sure how she does these, but they sure a loaded with a lot of VERY useful content!
Can you please show the way to print a list of task in a "Compact" format? Regular print option creates a really long spaced list.. Not good for printouts
Thank you for being detailed. I am trying to simplify/minimize my life and reduce the millions of places I keep notes and tasks. I think this is a great place to start.
You can also add the hashtag in the task description itself. Also searchable. I manage several projects and instead of having a separate list per project, I just start the task description with the hashtag corresponding to the project.
Ahhhh, Thank you, Leila, this morning I was trying to figure out how to view my To Do with due dates and in your perfect explanation method it popped up and my question was answered. Your videos are great and the content is really informative. Thank you
That’s what the suggestions are for? Also isn’t doing your day at the start of day sort of like your on personal stand up meeting? In my experience, I would not necessarily say it’s a question of best practice, but we all have our habits.
@@paulspray8363 there are dozens of requests on the Microsoft site to add this very feature but they have yet to acknowledge them. Any time-management book will insist on making your to-do list the night before so you can hit the ground running in the morning.
Great question: Ideally you should be able to assign an importance to a task or sub-task (0-10) and To Do should automatically rank them. And sub-tasks could automatically take the priority of the main task. Also, when a sub-task is complete the next sub-task comes up automatically in the day view..
Wait, what is supposed to happen when you choose 'Remind Me'? I just tested it and nothing happened whatsoever. I typed "Pay mortgage" and chose a time (two minutes from when I set the reminder), and then waited for a pop-up notification or something. But the time arrived and there was no pop-up or notification of any kind. ???
I’ve been using To Do for the past couple of years. I very much feel embedded in the Microsoft ecosystem. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, OneNote and To Do - all are great!
Thank you! I've been using this app for a year now, and just now learnt that we can use tags! Though Microsoft needs to add a proper tag system, I wasn't aware about the hashtags. Thank you so much for the info!
Hi Leila, at 3:20 in the video you mention the ability to add checklists as sub-tasks. Would you be able to make a video on that? I want to reuse a checklist for a repeated task; however, this isn't done on a set repeated schedule. It would be based on when I get an email prompting completion of this checklist.
Thank you for this video, it was very informative! Is there a way to keep the Steps under a task always visible? The default is that the Steps collapse under each Task. Is there a way around this?
Thanks Leila, I know you have done best to explain this app. But, there are still few pieces which are unattended by the design team. Like tags, yes, I know we have it here. But anyone can make mistakes by creating similar tags with different spellings if not careful. Thats where junk begins to accumulate. Other features missing are calendar view, global shortcut key, custom fields.
Is there a way to plan tomorrow? What I mean is, I plan my day the day before and would like to start my day with everything ready in the today menu. I haven't been able to do this and would love some help. Thanks in advance.
The one thing that is stopping me from using the To Do app is the 'postpone' functionality. I don't like the defaults and I don't see an option to change them or set specific time.
Thank you Leila. Great Tutorial. For me the most liberating feature of To Do is that you get a Fresh start each day with My Day. In the old days opening up Tasks and seeing 30 tasks pending is not exactly encouraging..
Can you tell me if Microsoft To Do is integrated with Apple Watch? I want to find a way to use my voice to set a reminder just like I am able to do with the Apple reminders app.
I tried to do few moths ago, but my main issue was wrong or any Outlook sync, or not sync between mobile aps and web version...task was not mirrored to cloud
Nice video Leila. Sadly, I've met some disorganised people - who will never have todo lists. There will always be those types in every industry and across other walks of life. For the group of people who want to become more organised, your video is excellent.
Here's a rewritten version of the text, improving clarity and grammar: Thank you for your excellent video. I'm experiencing an issue with my To-Do list management. I have numerous tasks that require daily review and status updates. When I update tasks 1, 2, 3, and so on, I often need to step away for other work. Upon returning, I struggle to distinguish between the tasks I've already reviewed and those I haven't. Currently, I use the star feature or manually move reviewed tasks to the top of the list to keep track of which ones I've addressed. However, I'm wondering if you could suggest a more efficient method. Perhaps there's a way to color-code tasks or use another visual indicator to show which tasks have been reviewed and which are still pending?
Wouldn't it be better if just use MS Planner so can see everything in one place? I'd prefer a simple To-Do with tasks and checkbox. Once is done checked. 🤷🏻♀️
Hello, I have Microsoft 365 but I don't have the integration features (can't sync my Teams or Outlook) for the task feature or flagged email feature? are you using Personal or Business?
I'm using Outlook and To Do for MacBook. But when I flagged an e-mail it doesn't appear in To do app. In fact, that option FLAGGED E-MAIL it's not on my To Do app for Mac. How can I fix this?
Leila, could you pls find (or CREATE :) ) a way to migrate all the tasks and reminders from Google to Microsoft TO DO?? Lot's of contents in the web about comparison or how to use, but NONE about migration existing tasks.
I just got a job as a transaction coordinator for a real estate company. I'm watching a lot of your videos to get more acquainted with the Microsoft products and find your videos very informative and helpful. Keep making more!
Drag and drop from Task to a list doesn't seem to work for me. Can create Lists, but even "move to" with a right click is not working. but Everything else is exactly how Leila explained... any help from anyone? Looked through settings etc...
Hello Leila . . . love your videos. Super Helpful. Question: I really like the look and functionality of the 'New' Outlook . . . finally a clean look (relatively) for MS. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to drag an email message in outlook to the 'Task' icon and create a new (and separate) task as shown in your video at about 9:53. This was the best feature of the "Not-New" Outlook! Any suggestions?
I have a question regarding flagging emails on outlook NOT SHOWING ON Microsoft TO DO I started using Microsoft To Do today, this was a very helpful video. I flagged an email on outlook but it isnt showing on my To Do, there is also no Flagged mail section in the sidebar and I cant find it in settings too. I also can't find tasks tool in my outlook app. Can you explain why this is? And how can I go about it?
Thank you for the explanation 🙏. However, I've observed a critical feature missing in this application: The inability to manage access for colleagues on a read-only list. I'm uncertain as to why this isn't possible with Microsoft To Do. Anyone can make modifications, even with mistakes, and regrettably, we cannot track the history of changes.
