"Graviteam Tactics: Mius-Front - tactical battalion level combat simulation. It is a sequel to Graviteam Tactics: Operation Star and Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.
Game is comprised of two modes:
Operational - turn-based mode where you can shift and concentrate forces in the chosen directions, resupply and replace units, repair and refuel vehicles.
Tactical - real-time mode where you are conducting fire combat with the enemy, capturing territory, destroying vehicles and the enemy manpower.
Four large-scale operations for the Red Army and Wehrmacht with realistic organizational structure. The campaign features more than 100 detailed vehicles produced in USSR, Germany, US and UK. Over 140 sq. km of realistic landscapes were reconstructed from topographical maps and photo and video materials.
-New enhanced UI: streamlined interface of various panels, radial orders menu and other enhancements.
-Interface appearance and customization: three variants of appearance are included, customizable unit markers (Red Army, Wehrmacht, NATO).
-High replayability and advanced AI, which selects the best strategy based on behavior, not a predetermined script.
-Advanced management of forces in the operational phase: reinforcement strategies and management of reserves.
-Statistics keeping: performance of each unit is recorded (kills, losses, awards, etc.). After each battle, damages and condition of forces and vehicles are shown in the after battle statistics.
-Battlefield simulation: realistic vision devices, smoke screens and flares, creation of trenches, explosion craters. Remnants of previous battles remain on the battlefield until the end of operation.
-Realistic soldier behavior: each soldier has several essential parameters, such as experience level, stamina and morale, which influence their behavior and effectiveness.
-Detailed weapon modeling and realistic ballistics: bullets and projectiles follow ballistic trajectories, taking wind, temperature and other parameters into account.
-Advanced armor penetration: modeling based on ballistic histograms without simplifications of probabilistic methods, generation of secondary fragmentation fields takes into account many parameters, such as the change of the field shape in space, fragments and armor characteristics, armor thickness and damage conditions.
-Complex vehicle damage system: engine, suspension, sights, weapons and targeting mechanisms can be damaged separately, affecting the combat capabilities.
-Destructible environment: almost everything can be blown up and destroyed, from landscape surface and buildings to vehicles and enemy defensive installations.
-Advanced control of the off-map artillery, featuring various fuse settings and shell types.
-Formation and movement modes: lines and columns, movement by road and covertly, infantry following behind tanks, setting a delay, fire sectors, etc.
-Automatic smoke screen laying: units set up smoke screens when enemy is spotted.
-Dynamic change of the time of day, light sources and weather effects, influence the course of battle, visibility and area passability."

They need to add your tutorials as just in game videos or convert them into actual tutorials. So helpful. I saw a lot of the separate pieces but you made it easy to understand how it works as a whole. I'd watch a whole series of you just breaking down the game.

Great tutorial! I'm new to the game and still learning a lot, but this really helped me get the most out of my artillery in my last battle, even though the battlefield really wasn't good for it.

Nice tutorial. I liked that it was calm and to the point, instead of trying to make jokes etc. Actually I thought I wouldn't learn anything new, and then you showed it's possible to drag the direct fire marker to make a line. Played for something like 200 hours and never realised that before. Thanks!

Gutes Tutorial! Nice Tutorial. The other ones one RU-vid might be helpful, too, but are outdated slightly. I recently got into Graviteam Tactics and enjoy it very much. Its a unique approach to the genre. I wish there would be more games like this. The only real competitor that comes to my mind is combat mission (you surely know it), which i played a lot, but its so heavy on micromanagement that it becomes exhausting and the performance is atrocious. However, keep up the good work

Great tutorial! A good place to practice using this is the Defense tutorial in Tunisia Tank Warfare. You will get your a** kicked if you don't use your guns and spotters correctly.(Which happened to me a few times). You have it a bit easier as your guys have radios, so no one has to run cable around!

Thank you for your excellent tutorial on artillery. I'm brand new to this game and your videos have gotten me into giving it a try. I hope you'll consider making more tutorials in the future with this game as it is not beginner friendly and the UI could use more work to make it more intuitive. But at least now, I know what to do with command units and their telephone wires.

Great tutorial thank you. Just a tip. It is my opinion that tutorials should not have any music. We are desperately trying to hear the information in your voice and sometimes we struggle with accents so any music in the background can be a little frustrating. Unfortunatelly not, if this highly trained person dies, you loose their abilities. These are very high value units, try to keep them out of trouble :)

fantastic tutorial, didn't know the chain of command also worked for arty spotting! One question though: I seem to remember reading there was a max distance for telephone wires. Is that correct?

I don't know how current this is, but this definitely helped me make more sense of on-map artillery, and use it more effectively. Will we be getting more tutorials soon? I always get overwhelmed in the deployment phase.

I appreciate the time you took doing the training videos. I am just starting out and doing the training missions. I could really use some advice on 2 issues. I struggle with moving the camera/view around. Several of you guys make it look so easy. I find much of it counter intuitive vs software that I am used to using. Maybe if my MMB worked for camera rotation instead of just the "C" key, it wouldn't be as bad. Can you tell me what combination of mouse and keys work for you? 2nd, I haven't loaded any MODS yet. Is installing them self explanatory? If not. how? Any issues I should be aware of using them? Thanks 😊🤷‍♂

For some reason my old Logitech mouse with middle scroll wheel and button. The Graviteam software didn't see when I pressed the wheel in. Just got a new Logi MX Anywhere 2S. It has programmable buttons. You can set them globally or per application. Now the user needs finger memory training. ☺@@Tonci87

Question : on the main menu - options - game settings - Difficulty : use of artillery : there is 3 possibilities among the choice ('normal', 'maximum' and 'only pre planned' ). What do we have to take and can you explain the difference between these choices ?? Thanks !! You're video are awesome!!

The Option controls how much Artillery will be available during the battles for use by the player and AI. Pre planned means that you won´t be able to call in more Artillery after the battle starts. I advise to use maximum.

I was unsure toward the end, did you give the regimental commander an acquire target order or does he just spot the target and order the fire in purely on his own initiative? Never knew about that use of higher commanders. Brilliant, thanks!

which game of the graviteam series do you think is better, mius front or tank warfare tunisia? I was in doubt because tunisia has a relatively larger map (from what I read in the game description)

They are both running on the same engine and have basically the same features. Tank warfare Tunisia focuses on the North African Theater, while Mius front mostly covers the eastern front up to 1943 (a few DLCs cover some more modern conflicts). It is up to you to decide which theater you prefer, I will say this though: Mius front continues to receive new DLCs with amazing campaigns, while Tank warfare doesn´t. Mius front has a very nice selection of DLCs available, so that you will definitely find a Campaign that suits your preferences, be that a small skirmish, or a massive grinding battle on a huge map. Tank warfare and its DLCs can be bought for very little money on a sale, it´s more than worth it.

I hope we get a tutorial about HQ and Support Units and how exactly resupply works on the campaign map. Just do we need a repair unit close to our damaged units? Or must we put a damaged tank into reserve for repair? I know the Force List and all the stuff about moving Units into squad to replace other units or giving them support units. But Resupply ist still a big question mark for me. And: Can i do anything with repair truck on the battle map? As far as i know only the crew of tanks can try to repair minor damage. :-)

There will be such a tutorials at some point. You only need to have the repair unit close to the damaged unit. The damaged tank will be transferred to the repair unit and they will take care of it. You can use repair trucks on the battlefield to move soldiers or guns. They can´t perform repairs during the battle.

Sorry - I'm a newbie so I have many questions. I try to find it out on my own but somethings are not in the manual. When in the Operation mode and you select a BG, you can then goto the Unit List. What effect does the strategy selection make. Ex. None, anti-personal, mobile, supply, etc... Which should you select and for what effect? Thanks.

That is the reinforcement strategy for that unit. They will receive additional units according to the selection from the Regimental reserve. If you select mobility they might for example receive a few trucks. Anti personal will usually add MGs or Mortars, etc.

Regarding the trick of moving the battery commander up then back to the original position, if a new wire link is established to the commander's new position, and you move the commander back to their old position will the new link remove the telephone from the old position?

One small thing missing from this tutorial is how to use the German spotters that come with a halftrack. It's difficult sneaking a halftrack into position without getting spotted, and if you dismount it, the dismounts are not able to call in artillery. Only the actual vehicle can do that. So I'm a bit unsure how to use it really.

Oh thats a good point, I didn't test that. Are the dismounts really unable to call in the artillery? I was under the impression that the halftrack is just their transport. I will have to take a good look at that when I play a campaign with such a spotter.

@@Tonci87 Yes, in my experience only the actual vehicle can call in artillery. It depends on the LOS of the halftrack. I was hoping maybe I was doing something wrong and you could help me find out what.. but I think it's just made that way. Maybe a kind of bug?

That’s a pretty’s cool observation! That particular part of the artillery mechanics didn’t get any TLC yet - we no longer have fireballs, but we still have telepathic connection between FO’s and batteries. If anything, this mounted FO works “more realistic” than other FO’s, since the half-truck has a radio :) but I don’t think this was done on purpose (checking LoS from the vehicle as opposed to the FO squad).

Great tutorial. I would personally mention that for establishing cable connection you need to have activated maneuver control on telephone unit. And there is one more use for smoke shells that just covering your movement and that is setting things afire. I use it on tanks, buildings, forests, infantry in general... Its just super effective. ( Sorry for bad english, im not native speaker )

Can you tell us anything about what determines call-in times for off-map artillery? I noticed that the farther from the spotter, the longer call time, even though the weather is clear and there's perfect LOS. But there are other factors at work too. Sometimes I get crazy high call times, more than 12 minutes for a 10cm battery. Other times, I can call in 15cm in 5-6 minutes.

I´m not 100% sure either, but it seems to depend on a combination of the type of gun (big guns need longer) and on how well the spotter can see the area.

So 'Fire Control' and 'Fire at Will' only needs to be enabled for the actual guns, not for any of the commanders. correct? Also, the 'higher-ranking officer' then really just acts like an additional spotter, there's no other benefit to them?

Well there are a few other benefits to the commanders. Better morale in their vicinity, faster replenishment of command points

Can orders come across from an infantry unit? so can a unit like an infantry unit and mortar company be linked by an officer and use the infantry los to call in arty?

No, that doesn´t work. I guess the regular Infantry does not have the knowledge to act as fire observer.

@@Tonci87 An infantry platoon commander can do it though. But it's difficult to do in practice, as you have to run a wirelink to where the platoon has moved, and the link gets broken very fast once shells start to land.

@@Tonci87 There's a guy who got an example of getting automatic observed fire from some rifle squad all the way up and down the chain into the company mortar battery. Are you by any chance playing an older version of the game? There was a UI update which moved some buttons from the left-hand pane to the bottom. Another possibility is loading an older save (a tactical battle save) - these usually aren’t backward-compatible, so you get weird effects.

@@СергейБалаганов-г1ы Absolutely, but not right now. The Devs are still changing stuff. If you switch to the Beta branch, you will discover that they added new Artillery markers and the possibility to fire a moving barrage. I have to wait until they finalize these changes before I make a tutorial about them.

@@forgiven88 You have to consider how information (fire orders) is transmitted through the chain of command. The platoon commander (who is assumed to be a trained fire observer) will see the target, and order his subordinates to engage it. Those in turn will give the information to the guns and order them to engage. If you send out one of the subordinates to scout, he won´t be able to give fire orders to his commanding officer.

This video perfectly shows both how good and realistic this game is and how stupid and unintuitive the UI is: Switching from HE to smoke rounds through "Act with caution" button doesn't make any sense. 1) Firing smoke shells doesn't mean that the artillery unit is acting with caution, so it's misleading. 2) It's completely different from what this button does with other units, so it's inconsistent. 3) The button tooltip doesn't say anything at all about smoke rounds, so you can't figure out this function even when you carefully read all the tooltips. 4) It's inconsistent (again), because when using off-map artillery, you switch the ammo type with normal buttons for HE, incendiary and smoke rounds.

I agree. I think this was a little better in Operation Star. I seem to remember that OS had a dedicated button for smoke. I´m not sure why they did it like this.

There are many many such inconsistancies in the game unfortunately. For example, the same icons are often used for different things. On the campaign map, the icon of some troops with radio means "combat engineers", but on the actual battlefield, suddenly this same icon means "artillery spotter".
