Have you ever used paper templates and found them frustrating? Or found they took forever to trace and then cut out with scissors? Paper cutting templates don't have to be frustrating! I'll show you how to use them with the regular cutting rulers you already have to make the job much easier. Then we will assemble this Maltese Cross block in three sizes!
💕 I have a brand new premium pattern out! The Kirigami quilt is a fat quarter friendly quilt in two sizes. It has some slightly fussy cutting with templates but, after that, its smooth sailing to get a quilt that looks totally impressive once its together! The pattern is 11 pages of color assembly diagrams, cutting schematics, color pages, and more! My paid patterns are what help me produce all the free content here on my youtube channel. Check it out here: tinyorchardquilts.com/product...

I really appreciate that you did the “wrong way” example so it is clear why the technic is needed

This has transformed my template-based cutting! Thank you! Taping two or more identical templates to the back of one ruler to guide different cuts is an amazing time-saving hack.

What a smart way to cut out different shapes! Instead of having to buy a bunch of different rulers. I really enjoy watching your videos 😊

Genius! I'm not only impressed with tapping to the ruler, but how your nails coordinate with your quilt pieces. Nice touch 😉.

Great video with an excellent hack! I have intentionally not made certain quilts because of the expense of buying a special ruler. Not anymore thanks to you!!

Another super video, thank you! Such a clever idea to tape the paper to the top of the ruler. I have had paper underneath in the past and as you note, that paper can slowly become cut away little by little! Your points come together beautifully. I really enjoy your videos and learn a great deal.

I AM A beginner that is why i am asking i was under the impression that to have perfect matching it is important to press the fabric well before cutting but i have seen a few people cutting the wrinkled material

It looks like you pressed to the light (green to white) side which may make a fabric shadow. In this block is there a reason to press to the light or is this a personal choice. Love the paper pattern trick. No more fancy rulers I have used once. I have many. Thank you.
