I have been using a similar machine doing sets of 360 five times. Was also a gymnast in the past. Love....lats are the hardest set of muscles to actually feel engaging and using. Try increasing the weight to where you can do a set of five. If you don't feel your lats,, you probably wont, you know you are engaging them. My experience is building lats is a very subtle activity, unlike say bicept curls which is very obvious.
For that machine you don't lean back it's designed for a straight torso and you pulldown and point your elbows back and make sure to control the weight on the way up.
