Today we are talking about how to use the minneer milk/cream separator. This unit is designed to separate the milk from the butter fat in raw milk. Apparently there's some confusion on how to set up this machine so I'll be taking you through the entire process. If you have any questions leave them in the comment section below.

It boggles my mind that guys would spend so much time in designing the product and then throw in poorly written instructions, definitely not by a native English speaker. Typical for the Chinese, though there is a zillion of Chinese with English as a second language. So thank you for your help.

There is a learning curve. I have used it around 8 times and now would give it a 7/10. A couple of things: 1) The edges of the two spouts are sharp and can cut you. 2) the temperature of the milk is important with regards to the thickness of the cream that initially comes out - you really have to play with the set screw 3) you can’t adjust the cream mix once you start the separation process. It takes a constant temperature and slight adjustment of the set screw. 4) at the end, replace the containers and run through about 8-12 cups hot (150^) water. Clean up is easier

I just learned a couple of other things. The wafer must be dry. You have to gently push up around the edge (I used a jelly spreader) until it opens. Wash and dry it. You will need to do it every time you use the machine. Also the engine shaft and the small funnel with the yellow gasket stuck together. I must not have cleaned them properly. It was messy. Good luck!

I used mine today for the first time and when I turned it off milk would pour out the vent or also it happened when I turned the machine on. I turned it off to heat up more milk. I didnt know if it was ok on the motor to leave it running for that long. When I turned it back on cream came out of the vent. Sometimes it was cream and sometimes milk. I can't figure out what I did wrong.

I do appreciate you doing this video because it definitely taught me how to work my cream and milk separator. But I have a problem with milk getting down into the base of the unit it leaks down and in the bottom and I have to take it apart and it’s already started to rust inside. And I’ve only used it three times. Also what do you do about the little desk that’s like a pillow and has three bumps on one side and when you put it into the machine the bumps go downward? It gets filled with milk and there’s no way to get it out what am I doing wrong?
@2guysandacooler
@2guysandacooler Год назад
Yes. The bumps go downward. That creates a space for the milk to enter slowly. You should be able to just take it out with no problem. As far as the leak, you might want to reach out to the company and let them know. They might have a better answer for you..

I am trying to figure mine out as well, I have the same issue. I have to put everything on while the filter is spinning, when it starts, the motor makes it jiggle, it hits the spout rings, and it bounces back and forth like pinball, making the bad noises and not letting the machine start up all the way. About the send my first batch of milk through, water will only come out of the milk side, no matter what I do, so we will see 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had the same problem. There are three bolts underneath the machine. You can use the tool that came with it to align the central shaft. Turn the entire bolt, including both nuts, clockwise to pull the top towards the direction of the bolt and anticlockwise to push it away. You have to keep placing the pieces up to the cream spout back on to check for the correst alignment. I hope this helps

Hi Eric great video as usual. I have made some parmesan just recently with store bought 2% fat whole milk. So my question is what is the fat content of the skim milk you are producing with this device and how do you check fat content?
@2guysandacooler
@2guysandacooler 3 года назад
Hey Joe. When I start off my raw milk has a 4% fat content. This separator removes the butter fat and leaves me with 0% fat skim milk. It is hard to say but we can narrow it down. Jersey milk is typically very close to 5% fat. One (US) gallon is 3.78 liters and weighs about 3.91 kg. The fat will be about 5% of that or 0.195 kg. We'll assume a full separation and if we go with a 40% heavy cream then you can expect 0.195 kg to be 40% of 0.487 kg total cream or about 0.49 liters. converting back into imperial units (for those who desire it) that's about 0.13 (US) gallons or 0.5 quart or 1 pint.

We just bought one for our lab and it does the same thing. I originally thought that adjusting the three bolts under the unit would fix this but that just changed the balance, so I had to readjust them back. Any insight would be a big help.

I would check and make sure all the disks are in their correct place, then check the gasket and its runs for damage. Make sure the spouts are correct along with the funnels.

Will this machine separate cream from homogenized milk? We only use milk from our sweet jersey cow Blossom, and her milk separates all by itself! ( should have paid extra for that feature)😂

the screw regulates how much milk goes through the centriguge at a time. When more milk passes through the thinner the cream will be, when less milk passes through the thicker it will be

Just a few things I learned the hard way I want to add in case someone stumbles upon this: 1) make sure you pour the milk immediately after the hot water goes through, the device cools faster than you think and if it does the fat will harden and cause blockage (and farting milk) u really don’t want that. 2) if the device is making weird scratching noises it’s probably because one of the components isn’t put in place properly causing the stick under float bowl to scratch the inside of the disks while they spin (very bad). Make sure to be mindful of noise when u use it; it should be as quiet as possible and not very shaky. 3) it helps to mark the closed setting with tape on the edge of the milk bowl so the open/close setting is a no-brainer. Once I accidentally poured water over the machine while it was on and not spinning (oops) because I thought it was closed. It still works but caused me massive amount of stress. Good luck using!
@astudent8885
@astudent8885 3 дня назад
Oh and 4) make sure you do not skip any washing steps, or the milk will go bad
@astudent8885
@astudent8885 3 дня назад
5) and make sure you don’t get creative and separate cream from the cream after the cream has been separated. It will cause all the cream to go into the milk. I tried to save some milk after I set the cream setting to too thin… ya just don’t be like me

When you put together the main piece with all of the disks did you put the correct disk in first followed but all the other disks? There's one disk that looks different than all the other ones (the protrusions are on the inside rather than the outside) That part is critical. Also did you adjust the screw for "thickness" of cream? I like to have might tightened all the way (to the right) then loosened a half turn (to the left). Finally was the raw milk warm when you poured it into the bowl...

@@2guysandacooler sadly in Quebec the government control and set the price for many things like maple syrup, beer, milk... so even if the milk producers had big surplus and wanted to get rid of it fast they cant, and just pour it down the drain instead. they cannot even sell it locally, everything must come thru the controlled COOP. the state sell them a permit for Xliter of milk at Xprice for the year, and they cannot produce more than that. we literally have a maple blackmarkets, if the year is very good the maple production is higher than normal due to the weather. normally they are required to pour bleach into the maple water and dump it. it is illegal to make more than your permit. some people make maple product anyway like maple butter (crystallized) for example and sell it to friends illegally from their car trunk. i have bought maple syrup in 2liters pop-bottle in the past. the normal price for a single can of syrup in the stores is about 8$ CAD (5USD?). its very high for people with low income we cannot even afford syrup ourselves when we are the single producers in the entire world. anyway long story short, Quebec is a Communist state and its citizen are suffering. on another note there is so many problems i could talk for hours, but even our lake are controlled and they tried just 5years ago to put chains across the few public lake ramps and charge people 300$ for just a single outtings. it was and still is that way in many many villages in Quebec.
