These steps will work with BMW chassis codes E60, E61, E90, E91, E92, E93, and probably many others. Stay tuned for more BMW-related videos! Music by Quincas Moreira: Ladybug (RU-vid Audio Libary) #bmw #bmwdiy #elitebimmers
I’m not 100% sure about the engine temperature. I did it on cold engines. I think it shouldn’t be a problem if engine is warm. This method is just to siphon air from the system. You may need to add coolant if it is complete.
Hey man the water streams out good when my car is on but when doing the bleed process when off no water streaming through the hole at all. I can hear the water pump activate but no water brand new water pump any suggestions?
Not sure what is going on :( Sorry, you have problems with this. This week I worked on a car where this process lasted only 5 minutes and the car would go to sleep. New battery and stuff. We ran it several times and it doesn't overheat. BMW diagnostic software showed everything is fine. On these cars, it can be a nightmare to perform such a simple thing :(
Yes, instruction was only for ELECTRIC water pump. For those E60 owners with mechanical water pump including myself, we are out of luck. No instruction at all online :(
With mechanical: park up to hill,( higher-better ) with nose ( engine ) up! Open tank, start the car,put heating to max/fan to min,and wait till coolant go down, add a bit of coolant if need, press gas pedal from time to time… in aprox 1hr the job is done.
Hi I want to buy a bmw 520D 2009 and I live in Sweden, do you think that a BMW can be a good car here in Sweden? I saw also you have snow near there and that what I mean. I like BMW and your BMW 5-S
Hello! Thank you for your comment! I talked to several BMW owners from Northern Europe and seems that 520D is a solid choice for this part of the world. Sweden gets a LOT more snow than the place where I live now. My car is all-wheel drive, xDive, and it handles great on snowy and wet roads. If you can, get an xDrivr car too, unless it’s not possible, good winter tires should be sufficient. I owned a couple of rear-wheel-drive BMWs and drove in the snow without problems.
It's venting inside the reservoir tank. There's a small hose inside, if you open the cap during venting, the flow or bubbling can be seen. If the car has extra coolant, it would just drain outside. Most likely you would need to add more, and will not see overflow.
Will be nice if u answer that, what if my bleeding is so slow? I mean coolant is bleeding slowly or its stops sometimes and then it start to bleed again… cause ur car bleed coolant so fast. Thanks anyway for vid!
That’s a very good question. I’m not sure, but I would guess you don’t have to because iDrive would say that when you get a warning about adding a coolant.
The car that’s on the video has an electric coolant pump. But I learned that mechanical pumps (belt-driven ones) use the same venting method because those cars have electrical auxiliary pumps. Learned this a month ago.
@@EliteBimmers I went today with my bmw e60 520d N47 engine to change coolant and they didnt vent the system ,they sad it will vent by herself and they let her runming for about 10 minutes ,it seems the engine is working at normal temp by now 🤔,that’s why i was asking about engine code ,probably n47 is different when it comes about venting 👌
Giovanni Ramirez It could be few things. I would start by checking if your coolant pump is working and if your battery is strong enough to handle 12 minutes or so of the venting process. Good luck
