There is no biblical precedent including dating. Nobody dated. Dating is a fool's errand that is predicated on the false philosophy (of the world) that it's "love, then marriage." In the scriptures, it's "Marriage, then love." People who date will naturally hand-hold, kiss, neck, and..... That is how we're wired. Those activities create lots and lots of oxytocin spilling out into the body---the bonding hormone--which is great if you're married to the person or a parent to the person, but not so hot if you're not. Oxytocin causes temporary blindness (to flaws), deafness (to the pleas of those telling you he/she isn't right for you), and short-term insanity--when you agree to marry the person based on that warm tingle you have now--that will last approximately two years, if you're lucky, and then one day you wake up and think "Why on EARTH did I marry him/her??? I must not be in love anymore!" Stop following how the world says to do it OR reap the world's rewards: misery, brokenheartedness, dreams crushed, children torn.

Hey Jenna I (Scott) totally agree with your sentiment, I think Arranged Marriage is the best way! Kelli never followed the world's way, and I repented of it, you can watch our love story once we upload it. That being said, 0.0001% of Western Christians are getting married through arrangement. We are involved with many college kids. We realized pretty quickly that telling them not to date, falls on deaf ears. So our biggest encouragement is for them to protect their purity and set clear deadlines for exactly the reasons you explain. Now please make a video on how Western Christians should get married biblically, we'd be pretty interested to hear your practical advice. May the Lord bless you!

Hmmm...dating wouldn't be the way then...because you out in this time and energy and invest emotions into liking one another...why couldn't you find out those values without dating? The marriage of Adam and Eve and virtually all subsequent marriages show that dating was not even existent. I think Scott brought up some points which show the hurdles associated with dating especially within the Church. If these problems exist within dating in Church they surely wouldn't disappear outside the Church...
