If you are struggling with loafers because your feet are wider than average, do look for shoemakers that offer EE width instead of the standard D width. You’re welcome.
I have a pair Reiss moccasins driving loafers in suede. I love them and look forward to wearing them with out socks in spring and summer. Even if you say they look old. You just have to pick out the right pair. Say brown, tan, blue or green to start of with and pair them with a stylish out-fit like you would style loafer shoes. Moccasins driving loafers has nothing to do with age!
A pleasure to have found you! I'm so glad the algorithm put you in my feed. You're well-spoken, your taste in style is impeccable, and your voice is very pleasant to listen to. I've been watching several of your videos. I plan on sticking around! As a fellow fan of classic style and dressing like an adult, it's always nice when I meet someone with a similar mindset. Till next time, all the best! ^-^
Hi Jeremiah, it's great to know that RU-vid is showing my channel to like-minded people such as yourself! It is a pleasure to have you join the community.
Loafer Gang! Currently rocking my Dior tassel loafers in black. I was able to nab them from eBay for an absolute steal. Solid recommendations in this episode - especially the Charles Tyrwhitt pair. Another killer vid, mate!
Nope, wearing any kind of closed-toe shoe without socks, or for that matter, wearing trousers without socks is DISGUSTING! It is no different than wearing the same pair of socks every day without washing them. And no one wants to see your hairy ankles under a suit. And who on Earth is tailoring those trousers like they're capri shorts??? All this stuff is going to look sillier in five years than disco boots and bell bottoms have ever looked!
@@new2000carsome of the points raised were legitimate. Classic style is about what is timeless, not fleeting trends. If you want to look like a classy gentleman, stick with established sartorial principles. If you want to look like a trend-chasing boy, rock the modern fast fashion
I was at university in the 1960's. Ivy league styles at the time included the penny loafer and some more plain styles as well. I still like penny loafers and may go back to buying another pair. I am a fan of slip on shoes. They are comfortable and still stylish.
Hello, Top Man loafers destroyed your feet but, loved them anyway lol. I was wearing proper made in England DMs, cheap Tassle Loafers (feet destroyers) and cheap Royal brogues (and platforms lol) as a teenager in the 70s and loved them all. I now have, have had for a long time and, always will have DMs, Loake tassle loafers, Loake penny loafers and Loake Royals in my collection along with all sorts if lovely dtuff e.g. Red Wing boots (zero platforms) and still loving them. I even still have some electric green socks but only for the memories, haha. 50 plus years of loving great shoes and still going. Perhaps have a look at GB early teddy boy and mod culture for a video subject some time. Great video and great channel :-)
Oxfords are foot shaped better. Think practical and health wise. And there is no wide feet. Only unnatural shoe shapes. I have to say..you are not logical nor sophisticasted and masculine, if i see a shoe on a man, who destroys masochisticly his feet. The beach and running and cuddling feet fantasy is gone. Be an adult, be sophisticated: Buy foot shaped business shoes and invest in health. You want to go without hurt during work. These shoes cost like 120 to 160, so not really more expensive, but better in the long run
I really like loafers also, but being on the older side, 79, I tend to frown on the idea of going without socks. No one wants to see a man’s bare ankles and veins. Of course, my opinion only.
@@casualarrogance as I said it’s my opinion only. It’s just something I, personally would not do. There is an Italian fellow with a you tube channel that has a clothing store and he wears a 2 or 3 pc. suit, scarf, etc. and doesn’t wear socks. He wears the same shoes in every video and they appear to be brown suede. In addition, he’s missing his cufflinks, that might be another new trend but I wouldn’t do that either. Guess I’m really old fashion.
@@DavidS-pt7hc I mean wear no socks with loafers in summer and not with a 3pcs suit or in a formal occasion. For an informal dinner, on vacation, travelling, or with casual clothing it’s perfectly fine.
Hi James, great question. I think the quality and value is good for the price, but the fit of their clothes generally does not work for me. I need a very tapered shirt which is not what Tyrwhitt generally sells. But I encourage you to either order a variety of items and return them or try them on in store if you have one nearby. The store’s styles and variety are great though!
@@Gent.Z appreciate the advice. I prefer a more classic fit so it may work for me. I hear their customer service is good and the current sale 3 shirts for $99 is definitely worth a shot.
@@Gent.Zagree with your stance on Charles Trywhitt..I have a number of their French cuff dress shirts that I still wear today..they have a number of stores in nyc... it's funny I bought my shirts when there was no internet ...manchester united was the power house and Beckham was still on the team😂😮😊!!!!!!...and I live in the states!!!!!..enjoy your weekend ..peace
Yes they do have stores in NYC! Sadly not in many other US cities, I think. And I find their associates to be pretty helpful. I will add that their casual OCBD shirts fit me okay not tucked in, it's just for formal looks that the fit of even their slimmest shirts is too loose in the body@@kenneth7826
Agree, absolutely the best footwear, classic Bass Weejun loafers like in record sleeve of Jimmy Smith record Midnight Special are one the rarest model.I like British loafers by Loake and Swiss Bally as they are very soft.I dream of vintage Gucci loafers.
I get it, but you are so wrong! Today, even well dress men want to wear comfortable shoes. Here in Italia, even sneakers are being worn with suits. So beautiful suede or leather loafers over very comfortable midsoles that don't destroy your feet are an excellent choice for the (21st century well dress men ) 😊
Thanks for the video. Took the advice and picked up a pair of Steve Maddens for a semi formal jean and blazer look for an afternoon out with the wife for my birthday. Jaronte Sand Suede - $120.
Now that you have mentioned 3 types of loafers, the next step is what outfit goes with which type of loafers, e.g., do jeans go with horsebit, etc. And I know you mentioned you don't like chunky loafers, but if possible, mention what those go with as well.
Loafers go with pretty much anything. You can wear brown loafers with almost anything. Suit, Bussiness Casual, Blue jeans, chinos, linen shorts. You can't wear em with sweatpants and workout shorts tho.
I like to wear shiny black derby shoes with chunky soles for colder days and brown loro piana suede loafers for more relaxed occasions. But honestly nothing beats my Adidas NMDs when it comes down to comfort and versatility.
“They destroyed your feet and then they soon fell apart after“ where were said loafers made? What you describe sound like they were Weaponized used against you ,take your money destroy your ,feet fall apart.
I've never been attracted to loafers, but yesterday I saw a pair that I thought were pretty nice, so I thought I'd be open minded and give them a shot. I put them on and wore them around the store a bit, and I still can't get down with loafers. They feel too much like slippers. I understand that that kind of comfort might be part of the appeal for some people, but before I started caring more about what I put on my feet, I was a boot guy. Even now, a lot of my dressy-but-casual shoes are lace-up, high tops. Gives me a sturdier feeling
I’ve been working to improve my style and dress more like an adult for about a year. I have a problem with loafers, though. I AM an old man (about to turn 62) and have upgraded the shoes I typically wear. Whenever I consider getting leather loafers, though, I just think they look outdated and “old”.
I’m a big fan of Paul Evans loafers. By far the most stylish I’ve come across. Hand made in Italy. Look for the sales. Typically run a little over 400.
I just got my first pair of penny loafers and Im 62. I used to think loafers were goofy and corny. But penny loafers are just classic. Oxblood color. But they don't fit. I walk and the heel slips. I put padding back there and it doesn't work and the toes are cramped. I hot some summer loafers too, variations on Espadrilles. And several boat/deck shoes.
Finding a pair that is sleek enough to be stylish but wide enough to be comfortable for the toes can be tough, for sure. Do you mind telling me where you got them from?@@JT-rx1eo
I wore Bass Penny Loafers in my college years. 1987 to 1991. It was a Kappa Sig’s uniform. Wore them with khakis, white Oxford Button down white shirts, navy blue blazer. When it was warm, dropped the trousers and wore them with madras shorts or khaki shorts with white crew socks. Girls swooned
Sperry Topsiders have been my go-to sockless solution for years. Like a Rolex Submariner, they dress down a suit with a sporty edge but keep it classy.
first bought my first pair of penny loafers from Clarks fairly cheap. now bought myself a tassle and horsebit one of higher price and quality. love loafers
You should have see the Doc Martin's loafers I saw. lol I agree on the chunky rubber sole, modern loafers should be slim and slightly pointed in the toe as you have shown. I don't think you should wear horse bit loafers unless you own a horse. The tassel looks a bit girlie to me and I don't think I want things flopping around, so i guess it is penny loafers for me.
