Hey lash artists!
This video runs through all the basics of working with layers ❤️ Once we take these into consideration, our Lash game will grow to a whole new level! 💥
Working with layers in mind can drastically change the outcome of a set. Sometimes when looking from behind our client at a downward angle, we may think we have achieved a certain look until our client opens their eyes and it looks very different than we had thought.
By working with layers and knowing where to place each lash extension, we have more control over the visual outcome of a set!
Side note: Super blonde lashes are the exception (if we don’t place the extension on the bottom of the bottom layer, the blonde lashes will show a heavy contrast which we want to avoid).

The shorest ones on the top layer. Because when they open their eyes you'll have all the shorter ones behind the longer ones. I swear the linger ones on the bottom layer come up and over all the shorter ones behind them and looks better.

😬 I think the eye pads were toooo high up🤭😬 That can cause irritation in the eye (bottom) speaking from experience. Pretty lashes and nice explanation btw! TY🤍😊

How are you able to see the bottom layer while lashing? Usually when I go to lash the bottom layer, I’ll use an eye pad to pull back the lashes but it always seems to get in the way to where I can’t see the root of the lashes on the bottom layer. Should I lean in more over my client?

Absolutely, I find I have to move on many angles to see as well. I’ve also used crappy lash pads when attempting to isolate using eye pads and they just didn’t work. I use our Lost Artistry Lash Standard Gel pads which are the best for this technique. They stick well but never leave residue on the lash.

So when doing the bottom lash layer, depending on the NL, would you suggest always using a smaller curl than the top layer or bigger curl than the top layer when doing a volume or mega volume set?

Kaitlyn Wesley I like to use a stronger curl for the bottom layer ex if doing a C or CC .15 set, I use a D .12 or even .10 curl in a lighter weight.

I use a curlier curl for the bottom layer,otherwise they tend to lay flatter and look obvious and not in sync

Lashing can absolutely take a toll on your body! I find doing yoga and certain stretches has really helped me. We actually made a video on this below, and have a blog post on some stretches. I will link both below for you

if you lash by layers does that mean you would map differently than the basic one where its like 9\10|10/9 if that makes sense ... bc the way i was taught you would do each section not by layer.. sooo would theyre be a different way that the mapping would look written down?? i have no idea if that makes sense

Great question!! So, the mapping is the same. Working by layers you're following the same mapping on each layer, just sectioning the lashes off so you achieve better isolation. Long story short, section the layers then follow your mapping section by section. THEN move onto your other layer and repeat. Hopefully I helped :)

Except it's not the same bcos you drop down in size on the bottom layer? I tried shorter lengths on the bottom layer and they didn't sit well you could see them. Maybe it's bcos it was the same curl as the top layer and I should have changed the curl?

I would strongly suggest doing the top first, this is wayyy better for isolating! :)

Clients can sometimes have 3 or more layers, so depending on the clients natural lash health you can work accordingly! My clients usually have two or three, so I work from the top, middle then bottom!
