I don't know Hozier personally but he really doesn't know how brilliant he is as a lyricist and musician. He is, by far, one of the Superior writers and music makers of today. I only hope he keeps putting his mark on this world with his gorgeous songs and music , along with the musicians he has currently working with him on his tours. They are incredible as a little collective on stage. Hozier needs to accept that he is fantastic. His live shows are better than most. I saw him in Belfast in Dec 2023 and seeing De Selby performed was....WOW........Amazing and beautiful.

What you should tell yourself is that you have created something, even if it doesn’t sell. How many people can truly say that? Probably not one in every ten thousand. Who knows? Nick Drake was like the Van Gogh of music - he only became famous years after his death. Having said that, I wish you the best and hope that you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour. The point being is if it’s down, you never know when it will touch people. Herman Melville’s book, originally The Whale, became famous about 60 or 70 years later, at around the end of the First World War, nearly thirty years after his death, as Moby Dick Get it down first.

The best part about Hozier is he is true to himself while making his art. Why release music that isn't expressive of who you are at the core?? He makes music for a very specific ear and I am so here for it. And he is cool with that. And he's just one of the best artists and singer/songwriters all around. He's down to earth and so vulnerable. Saying he doesn't really need external validation goes to show that he is so humble. I love him. I can't help it.

But it's also important to practice self-compassion and remind yourself that you're doing the best you can. Take some time for self-reflection, focus on your strengths, and remember that personal growth is a journey. Really loved this whole interview and the emotionally intelligent interviewer, I'm really impressed. One of the best things about being around the same age as Hozier is that his music really does have emotional truth that packs a timely punch. There are lots of great moments in this interview, but I think the ones that I most vibe with is the purpose of art and the artist - healing, solidarity, and being the hand the squeezes before a catastrophe. I suppose another surprising moment was the discussion about sound being an even more fundamental perception than sight.

I relate so much to how he described thr hamster wheel and how hard it is to just STOP and stop avoiding what doesnt feel good. Having to face yourself instead of distracting yohrself by constantly climbing 👏

Wow, lots to think about here. This was a deeply moving conversation and I know I'll be returning to it over the years for reminders of these bits of wisdom. I'll definitely be checking out that Seamus Heaney lecture, too. F*cking beautiful sentiment. (I'll hazard a guess that it's an inspiration for Hozier's song Be, which floors me every time I think of the message behind it.)

Lewis grateful for your work, the affects of a male athlete opening the channels of discussion concerning masculine toxicity through this channel and your book "The Mask of Masculinity," will change many lives. I gifted my son the book and I hope it will help to redirect him from the affects of toxic masculinity exemplified in his life. You are a blessing it's amazing to see you apply your knowledge to your relationships and discuss openly your significant changes with each and every guest. I can't thank you enough for getting us through the tough days.

Anyone else think it’s fascinating that the two most popular songs are from the circle gluttony? (eat your young and too sweet). They are the two song which, if only listened to in a superficial way, encourage hyper consumption and self indulgence? He is the master of presenting a challenging theme to a mainstream audience without them even noticing it

So true! I keep seeing Too Sweet being dismissed as just a pop song, but I discover deeper nuances every time I listen to it. Which has been often. 😂

It's so funny to see Hozier talking about his music not necessarily belonging in the 10 most played because they are "not necessarily clubby", and then hit number 1 on Billboard with "Too Sweet". This man is amazing. May he continue to be able to do what makes him happy (cos sure it's making us happy too).

As a former 10 year old when TMTC came out to wanting to get tickets to go see him recently I can really resonate with what he said about that ;w; I think my music tastes have really matured over the years and I just absolutely love Hozier's music, it has a lot of feeling to it and never feels surface-level.

I am discovering a lot of music now that my kids are grown. When they were little, in school, and I was working, I didn't have time to go to concerts or search out new music, so I listened to stuff I already knew. Now, I've found 20 years worth of music I missed. I only wished I had gone to some of those concerts. But it's so wonderful to be listening to it even years later.
