Omen 15 (2020) is the result of HP's drastic redesign of its gaming laptops, featuring a new logo and a more mature look than its predecessors. i bought this gaming laptop. Its great. I had a problem where it would reach an insane temperature but I managed to sort that by disabling turbo boost. I lost fps after that but most titles run at 100+ fps high settings.

Yes, all games were tested with the charger plugged in. I'm general, you should always play games on a gaming laptop while plugged in.

Everything we play is on the laptop's display. However, playing on an external display won't change the FPS.

It's pretty normal. I have a gaming laptop which is 10 years old and its charger gets so hot while gaming that I can't even pick it up. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, it should run both of these development environments but it highly depends on the complexity of the game you want to create. Highly complex games my require a more powerful laptop.

It's slightly better. Like, it has a slightly better chassis, battery life and temperatures. But it's not way better. Price should ge the deciding factor between these two laptops.

You can't. When the laptop is on battery it receives fat less power and cannot run as fast.

Which one has 16gb of ram ? The Ideapad has better specs but it has inferior build quality and cooling. Whichever you get, make sure to upgrade to 16gb of ram. To be honest, I wouldn't get either of them. Overall, I prefer the Omen, but the Ryzen 5 will hold it down in terms of performance.

No, performance will be noticeably lower with the 4600H. With the 4800H and 16 GB ram it would be similar.

I would recommend the Omen over the G5. The G5 used to be a great budget gaming laptop a few years back, but Dell has been cutting corners lately and the laptop is not as great as it used to be. However, we couldn't see any major fault with the current HP Omen.

I would go with the Omen 15. Of the 3 of them, we liked that one the most. The GP65 has the advantage of enabling undervolting, but for us at least, it didn't make much of a difference. The G15 is an OK laptop and has excellent performance, but we didn't like the design and overall, the cooling solution was good only because they use liquid metal on the CPU and GPU. The Omen has similar performance to the G15 without liquid metal.

There are no such video cards. Only 1650 Ti and 1660 ti. Are those the ones you are referring to? The 1660 ti is 40% faster then the 1650 ti.

That's not true. High temperatures will simply degrade the silicon to the point where the laptop simply fails, it won't be a gradual performance loss. Such gradual performance loss could happen with overclocking / undervolting, but it's complicated to explain how that happens.

That is the maximum framerate and it only occurs when opening menus or during loading screens, that is when the dGPU doesn't have to render anything 3D. It only lasts for a few seconds but the tracking software still records it. The average framerate is what you should take into consideration regarding the laptop's performance.
