Hello, Great stuff on the video. I'm about to fit a Vintage air to a HZ so you have provided some useful tips. Could you tell me where you got your air compressor mount from? Thanks

Hey @fulio31 it's an aeroflow alternator bracket. Flipped upside down and I just cut down the spacer tube to fit the compressor spacing and belt position. Plus I like symmetry with both brackets looking the same and it tidied things up from the original brackets. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need to know anything else. 👍

I would think ant A/C service place could do it. It's really not hard. Instructions are really good.

Its from a Mercedes. Ill be wiring it up this week, its only 3 connections, active and neutral to battery and trigger wire to alternator. Ive used astra electric pumps before, but this is the first mercedes one ive tried. Copy and paste the following into ebay and you will see it. POWER STEERING Electric Pump Mercedes Classe A - Vaneo A1684660101. Stay tuned and see if i can make it work or if i cock it up. Lol

Hey @Kiyawebb9789, its a Vintage air compac gen 2 heat /cool /defrost unit. My advice is work out how many ducts you need, connect the hoses and blank the ones you dont need before you bolt it up to the dash. Its a real shit to do once installed under the dash. Alot of swearing/skinned knuckles and contortionist moves to connect them once in position. The two small ports are defrost vents, the 3 large ones at the back are dash vents. The foot well vents are built into the base of the unit. I dont know how im going to connect something to the floor vent to get heat to the drivers footwell as ot only blows down in the area installed??? They offer no advice on that. Ive installed a gen 3 unit on my previous chevelle and oldsmobile 442 builds, same process to install, but it has a floor vent that blows to the drivers side. The gen 3 is much larger though and double the price.

It`s hilarious people disconnecting and throwing out factory air for HQ=HZ . Also contributing to there rarity was Holden more interested in selling poverty models at max profit . Time consuming to fit a/con and anybody with moderate skills can do it . Be easier to fit factory a/con and performance will be the same as after market retrofit . Beaware some basic retrofit kits are very low on features . The highend units have better electronics and better refrigerant performance .

I agree 100%, this car had no a/c from factory. I bought a used factory unit for $600. Condition unknown as I like the look of the factory stuff. Took it into a local a/c shop to inspect. He said it was stuffed and would be a very costly repair. I on sold it as damaged only to be used for parts. Lost $400 on that process. So opted for the Vintage air system. Easy to fit, I charged it with gas last night. It works awesome. A little tricky to install, but any one with a bit of patience can do it.

Factory systems for most under 40yo looks impossible its all about time . A used a/c kit supply the hard parts and u replace all the refrigerant parts anyways . Evaporator 700$ ,, compressor 375$,, 3 x flex hoses 200$ ,, condensor 200$. ,,heater recore 200$ ,, 1000$ misc R/drier orings / electronic thermostat / upgrade block T/X valve , Q--Z ducting demister 20$ ,, HQ vents 300$ repo ,, flexi tube face ducts cheap . Recirculation vent always need repair ,, engine bay box repair with f /glass heater blower fan need stripping blast paint new wires / cooling tube for fan ,, evap box drain valve ,, 3 way vacuum valve for heater Approx refurbish cost no labour $2000-3000

Yeh I'm hearing ya. I think I paid about $3200 for the vintage air gen 2 cpmpac setup. That had everything in it to install in the car.

Yup ,most people unfortunately over pay for a factory system , Unless they are in good order which is only 10% cases or less . Good running order is 600$ . THE biggest part is that u remove it from the donor car ensuring u get 100% of parts .. If not complete or damaged no more than 200$ All old systems that are non functioning need flushing and leak checked . All late model need flushing due to the oil being very very moisture absorbent . Out of wrecking yards eventually systems get heavily contaminated with debris and moisture . Compressors cannot be flushed . Late model electric car a/c compressors are up to 5000$ WOW. The wreckers still want money for these . Any used compressor reused in a system voids , full system warranty
