I think this is a fair impression, but I don't believe any official statements have been made to this effect, and we don't know it's canon. furthermore, if you watch the class and archetype videos I think you'll find that oD makes a pretty strong case for Knight being passive.

Tony F I did that’s why I started saying this. You could use his argument to “prove” prince is active too. Knight is definitely active.

@@Brodysseus113 I'm mainly taking issue with the certainty. if I remember correctly (which I might not), the basic idea behind Knights being passive is their use of their aspect to help others (e.g. Karkat calming Gamzee down). I suppose one could turn this argument on its side and say the defending requires action on the Knight's part, but I think this is at best as strong an argument as the basic one, and in no way does it give cause to say Knight is "definitely" active. furthermore, Knight being active raises the question of what Page is. I don't think the Page is a passive "butler" - Jake's metaphorical "shield" of optimism, for example, almost tore his session apart. I don't know what you mean by "you could use his argument to 'prove' Prince is active". maybe I'm forgetting the presented argument or maybe I'm just missing something, but I don't know what you're talking about.

Tony F All classes help others though. Helping others is what a healthy player does. That’s why OptomisticDuelists argument is bad. Princes can help others too and so can pages. They do it differently though and that is where the difference between passive and active is. Pages get others to help them. They work “through” others so that makes them passive. Knights work “for” others which makes them active.

Just because you are a furry, doesn't make you any less of a person, just like how each classpect, for any person, doesn't tell us wether they are a good or bad person by themselves. New Vegas was already out by this time, and considering hussies proclivity for referencing pop culture to establish familiarity, it wouldn't be too much of a shock that he took influence from the best fallout to establish a grand clash between two different ideas of a civilization and different ideas for the formation of society. Replace Caesar with The Condesce, and that's pretty much the Legion and Alternia.

You know, I hadn't thought of it that much, but yeah pretty much. I've always considered the general technology of Sburb to be vaguely Space coded--its part of the story's setting, and so part of what defines the space the players inhabit, after all. And like I mentioned in the trolls' video, I consider the Black Queen's Ring's Red Miles attack to be a manifestation of Blood powers--a symbol of the monarch's collective power over her peoples, linking to Blood's ideas of societal binding. I'm sure you could parse all sorts of other parts of Sburbs game design this way, too. Good catch!

Obviously a symbol of Heart - a kiss, representing emotions and the connection between two souls, that allows a soul to move from one body to another.

@@lordbuss That makes me think Heart is heavily linked to Dream selves for kind of the same transfer reasons. You could throw in a little Light in there as well, since awakening involves learning something about yourself.

lord buss yeah, you’re right. If there is one aspect connected to corpsesmooching, it has to be Heart. I thought of breath-life, not only because of their literal meaning, but also because it gives the dead the drive to wake up as a dream self, which is a consumable resource in this context(life), and because the act of corpsesmooching is something that requires a certain level of.. ingenuity and motivation?(breath) Like, if a player doesn’t know what to do in such situations, kissing is the last thing that comes to mind, unless you’re about to find a clever, not so obvious solution, like John always does. ...But yeah, it’s Heart. I didn’t think it would be so simple!

Rose's drunken rambles reveal probably more about the setting and themes than her sober textwalls. Alcohol garbles the ability communicate effectively, but it has no effect on the truthfulness of what people mean, and by people I mean the Lalondes specifically.

Re America: We are clearly in the Post-Scratch timeline, where American politics becomes an unfunny joke and we're subverted by authoritarian-capitalist fish bug people. Re Alternia: It's not so much Alternia itself as it is Her Imperious Condescension specifically who is hypercapitalist, with Meenah being a money-grubbing Thief and HIC taking over Earth as a subversive monopolistic capitalist rife with references to cyberpunk and the movie They Live. Spades Slick takes on the "wealthy gangster" appearance in the same way HIC takes on the appearance of a blinged-out rap celebrity type of "gangsta", but he is ultimately most sympathetic with Alternia's cultural fixation on violence and cyclical revenge. Skaia: What oD means is that Skaia's oracular clouds afford anyone (such as Jade) a Seer-like capability.

An earth that has been subverted by a certain fish-bug people? Trizza Tethis, Mayor of Hauntswitch? "Post-Scratch". So why did we meet scratch in person at the end of our spinoff. I might have missed something but at what point do we see the doctor and the condense in the same story arc

Remember how Doc wanted you to read a brief webcomic? I'm talking about a Scratch as in what happened at the end of Act 5 of that webcomic, and the political situation on Earth during early Act 6 of that webcomic.

So let me break it down: "Post-Scratch" as a term doesn't have anything to do with Doc Scratch (directly). Doc Scratch is not involved in the allusions I am making. There are two primary timelines in each Universe in Homestuck. We are concerned with the Universe that Earth inhabits, which has a Pre-Scratch Timeline, where the Earth bits of Hiveswap and the first five Acts of Homestuck (less the Troll and Midnight Crew parts) take place, and the Post-Scratch Timeline, where Act 6 takes place, due to the heroes of Homestuck "Scratching" their Sburb session at the end of Act 5. Pre-Scratch Earth civilization ended in 2009, when Sburb was released, and the Exiles in this video are building on its ruins 413 years later. *Post-Scratch Earth* kept going for many years after 2009 since the version of Sburb played by inhabitants of that timeline was a Void Session without its own Reckoning. After 2011 or so, Earth fell into political corruption as the Troll Empress, Her Imperious Condescension (don't ask how she got there, it's confusing and also kinda gross), began subverting Earth's institutions and brainwashing the populace. As explained by resident of the future Dirk Strider's Auto-Responder, Earth between 2011 and the 2020's was turned into the Empress's puppet and did dumb things like electing both members of Insane Clown Posse Co-Presidents of the United States. I was alluding to this idea of political chicanery with my comment. Not Doc Scratch.

I'm not entirely sure who you're referring to, but I think the party line's long been that the kids are all aracial, and can be any race/ethnicity hc one chooses. It's understandable not to count them anyway, I think, but even then Meenah hasn't double died by the end, and I'm not sure what other black characters you're referring to, since she's the only one I can think of thats explicitly race-coded.
