The lack of limebloods - in my opinion at least - represents what's missing from Alternian society. The blood aspect is related to unity and interpersonal bonds, and by extension empathy. Yet these are all things which were destroyed by Alternia's system: caste chauvinism is rampant and betrayal is seen as a good and necessary thing. Being a knight is defined by compassion and the willingness to help others without necessarily having something in return This is pretty much non-existent in Alternia, the only time someone serves is when they're subjugated. The seer aspect is defined by the seeking and sharing of knowledge, LE's influence on Alternian society is kept secret from it.

An idea I had: the reason that Limebloods were subject to genocide on Alternia was because of Lord English's influence. He wanted to kill them because of their connection to Calliope.

I always kinda assumed that the shoosh-pap strong enough to pacify a raging purple blood was a lime blood thing. iirc the shoosh noises are written lime colored text in that scene. A caste of trolls with the power to psychically calm others would be counter to Doc Scratch's vision of Alternia, thus the genocide.

The best part of Friendsim was the entire fandom playing "spot the secret limeblood" every single volume, and going nuts over re-readings of every detail. "But Chahut tells Daraya she can smell her blood and Daraya gets nervous, WHAT COULD IT MEEEEAN?"

limeblood psychic abilities might involve some sort of calming or pacifying effect, because the most notable time that the color green appears in connection to karkat is the text color when he's calming gamzee down. and having a fairly abundant caste of trolls capable of defusing contentious situations is extremely threatening to alternian society

My old theory about limebloods was that they were hunted to extinction on Alternia by the Condescension because they were the only ones that could keep the highbloods (especially the fuchsia bloods) in check. It was the limebloods who established the Beforus system where the powerful helped the weak, probably because their abilities had to do with somehow making everyone want to work together, utilizing the greater power of meaningful connections between people, compared to cheap temporary tricks like fear and mind control. Essentially, they were the "power of friendship" class, doing what Karkat did during his session to unite all 12 casts and keep everyone from killing each other, but on a much larger scale. It probably wouldn't have been too hard if there were a lot of them, which seems to be the case, since limebloods are on the lower "commonblood" end of the spectrum. There's a hole in that theory, though, since we get to see Beforus in the comic, and nobody mentions limebloods at all. Kankri doesn't even seem to know what his own blood color is a mutation of, so either he legit doesn't realize that he's actually a limeblood (not entirely impossible since red blood is so rare that I doubt there's a proper diagnosis for it) or the limebloods were all culled in the dancestor timeline, too. If so, then by who, how, why, and when? I guess it's possible that limebloods were just never mentioned because it wasn't relevant at the time, but still, it's fun to speculate.

I think that lime bloods are empaths, because in karkat case he was realy good at sympathizing with his friends and constant selling them on their emotions, and due to him being an empath he could have a higher chance of changing other people's emotions if you look at at the shoosh popping with Gamzee. So I think lime bloods are powerfull empaths that could senes emotions and could change the emotions of others if needed.

You might be wondering what this comment has to do with lime bloods. NOTHING! I TRICKED YOU!

I am fairly certain that Daraya Jonjet was a limeblood. I can back this argument up to some degree, as well. The three largest pieces of evidence are that A) She has been isolated from society heavily by Bronya, who keeps her hidden away in the Jadeblood Caverns "for fear of what could happen to her outside", and her frustration from that isolation reflects Karkat & Calliope, both in the form of being heavily educated on the eradication of the limebloods and the ruins of their culture, and being angry about the terrible system that allowed for their execution. B) There is a very odd moment where the writers call attention to her blood color. Chahut directly questions her blood color, if I'm not mistaken, which visibly shakes Daraya. I don't believe that it would be such a jarring thing to bring up in a society dominated by blood color if her blood wasn't taboo. C) The best evidence of this though is during the scene where she brings the reader to the mall, and then it goes ablaze /right as she's becoming overwhelmed emotionally/. There is a panel or two where Daraya has bitten her lips and expressed blood, and you can clearly see that the blood on her lips doesn't match the color of her supposed sign on her shirt, as well as the fact that the color of these panels overall is very green, but not "Jade" green. In fact, the vignette around her fades from a darker yellow-green color around the outside of the panel to a /Lime Green/ circle around her character sprite. The isolated sprite from the game files of Daraya during those panels has her bloodied lips as being transparent in color, meaning that the color that shows through is from the background vignette. By that line of thinking, her lip blood color is Lime. What do you guys think about this? Was I incorrect in any way? Let's have a discussion about it. Honestly, it's been quite some time since all of this happened, and so I might be forgetting some of the specifics, but I feel quite confident in this assessment.

i had a headcanon that in the genocide of the limebloods, some Void aspected peeps, or maybe lime Voids, managed to scurry away and became part of the beginning of the Signless cult in order to make the Crabdad and a starting point for the paradox that was to be Signless and Karkat. Cause they had to come form some blood lineage before they became a blood mutation, right?

ive got a bit of a theory that the total extintion of lime bloods on alternia has something to do with jade bloods not being allowed to give blood to the slurry, which was mentioned in one daraya's endings. lime bloods might only be able to be hatched from the mother grub with jade ancestors, so when you dont let any of them contribute, you can forcibly make them "extint". either way, its a strange detail that jades cant give to the slurry.

The reason Limebloods were killed is that their powers allowed to pacify the Subjugglators like Karkat when he shoosh pap Gamzee. Also their blood is the main ingredient in sopor slime hence its color. That's why it protects trolls from chucklevoodoo induced nightmares.

Spoilers! I have my own theory, not so much on what limebloods are like, but their power. We have Rustbloods with telekinesis, Bronzebloods with Animal communing, Gold bloods with Psionics, Ceruleans with Mind control, and then Purple bloods with Chucklevoodoos and illusions So,this means The Dead, Animals, Electronics, Mind control, and Illusion, are all types of manipulation. But limebloods have said to have a magic power. In my thoughts, it's Emotion, it fits into the powers other castes have, As seen with karkat, he is able to calm gamzee down, I'd say a more physical way, if he was actually able to intergrate without worry, perhaps he can unlock his powers of emotional control. Like kanaya with becoming a rainbow drinker, porrim helped her unlock her powers with it. Sadly, Kankri and The Sufferer are mutants, and never really had time to work on themselves, The sufferer is probably the best shown in all this, as he got a bunch of people to band with him. So if there's a continuation of the epilouges, since it seems like it's not over, Perhaps in this theorized 3rd choice, Maybe Karkat unlocks a little of his powers? Doubtful, but possible. ^-^

I had the theory that limebloods have the power over realtionships primarily the pale quadrant, and that they were truly malevolent, to give the parallel between the cherubs and karkat, trolls=lime evil red good, while cherubs=lime good, red evil, also that most limebloods acted benevolent contrasting with karkat's tries to act malevolent and always enraged

I remember reading a theory that the limeblood's power was essentially what Karkat did to Gamzee; quelling the rage of highbloods. The upper castes feared this as it meant the lower castes could start to influence and reason with those of a higher social standing, and give them a better chance of rising up, and thus were all killed.

Lime bloods could have the ability to calm down and neutralize angry trolls, such as murderous purple bloods. We've seen karkat do this to gamzee when he shoosh paps him. Whether or not it's some latent, long forgotten psychic ability or merely the power of moirailship is not clear, but its still something to think about.

Very interesting. I made a lime blood character once that coincidentally had similar aspects characterwise. I basically used karkat as a base and messed around with personality traits so that I had a similar yet completely different troll. The question I'd like to ask to make this comment a little more relevant is, if the limebloods are being killed on sight so to speak, why don't they pose as another blood color similar in coloration like olive for the non-mutated ones and rust for the ones like karkat? As long as they don't spend too much time around others in person and don't bleed when they are around others then they're basically Scott free right? With the culling rates and accidental deaths it shouldn't be too hard to just, slip on another troll's symbol or hell even alter your own clothes to make their own symbol the color best suited to mask their blood.

I do realize that I probably sound like a broken record here but you actually make Homestuck digestible. There is so much to analyze and honestly I haven't even played Hiveswap and have wanted to. Someday I will. I am really hoping you cover violet/purple bloods since Eridan is my favorite and the one troll I relate most to (I'm misunderstood and most people find me intimidating even though I get along with most people). Also, like the purple bloods, some people find me haughty, which I have no idea where they get that from.

I watched all of your epilogue streams and when I found out that Case voiced Kankri on Voxus' openbound dub I couldn't contain my amazement. Thank you so much for making the content you do and reading the epilogues with SO MANY notable people in the fandom like Aysha and James Roach, that was the best experience I've had in a while

if we go with the popular fan theory that posits that lime bloods were primarily exterminated due to their (again, fan theorized) abilities regarding being able to calm others and warp emotions/thoughts to some extent in relation to that (like karkat's inherent blood-ish nature and his shoosh pap scene), then a prospective lime blood may roleplay/evoke the image of a knight of blood by serving unity to others while calming them down, as well as the image of a seer of blood by knowing a bit more about their caste and how to unify others

im pretty interested to see what limebloods will be like, and i like to wonder how they could possibly appear in hiveswap, but tbh i love how this just turned into Karkat Lore the Video

conspiracy theory: the condesce has a bunch of limebloods chained up in her basement for the sole purpose of harvesting their blood to produce sopor slime.

It is very interesting to weigh all the information and theories we have here with the other theories we've seen of possibly Boldir and/or Marvus being secret limebloods.

I never in a million years would have linked Karkat to the cherubs, but when you tell it, it makes perfect sense.

Ok so I haven't watched any of your other videos before this one, and I knew when I watched this one there would be a lot I didn't understand. But gosh darn this is crazy it's like your speaking in a different language, honestly I'm now absolutely fascinated I have to start from the beginning, when I get some more time, and try to work this all out. I knew Homestuck and Hiveswap had complex lore but this is a whole different level, it's like I'm looking at a whole culture I know nothing of. Thank you so much for making these videos, I'm sure there going to be of much help to me in getting introduced to ... well all of this, I'd say universe but I'm not sure that would be the right term in this case. 😊

Perhaps the so dangerous psychic powers that Limebloods had was something related empathy, both in the manner of sensing others' emotions and communing with them. A power that relates to emotional communion might lead to unity and comradery between the oppressed, which is fertile ground to revolution, like both the Signless' and the Summoner's social upheavals on crack.

Real quick am I the only dude who has noticed the similarities between Homestuck and the two most important event comics ever those being marvels secret wars and DC crisis on infinite Earth's. Think about it in secret wars the heroes get taken to a new world wall earth is dystoyed and have to fight in a game put on my a nye omnipotent being and eventually all the heroes must face a green bad guy with that power. In crisis on infinite earth the similarities are even more apparent with the multiverse in dangered from an Uber powerful being who represents destruction and death (the anti monitor) wall the beings cosmic sibling representing the opiset (the monitor) asembles a group of super powered beings to stop the cosmic sibling along side that the monitor has contact with a kind of apprentice who eventually turns on them. Alongside that the story ends with an army of these super powered beings fighting the big bad at the edge of abluvion after the death of the big bad sibling. Not to mention the other comic similarities in Homestuck (in particular how a cirten version of Dave and a former us president are re trace the steps of billy batson and the wizard Shazam respectfully). Just thought I would share this cause I feel like Homestucks possible comic influences are kinda overlooked by the community for the most part and that kinda bums me out.

Fun fact: in Vast Error, the Limeblood caste is associated with White Noise, and thus, the Green Sun. Plus, Ellsee doesn't seem to have the empathic powers normal Limebloods do.

So what are your thoughts about Nepeta and Eridan, being the supposed prototypes for Caliope and Caliborn, as stated by Hussie in the book commentary? People have made compare and contrast with Karkat and the two Cherubs. More often with Caliborn. I find it strange Hussie chose Eridan in place of Karkat. Nepeta would make sense to a degree, but there is some proof of Karkat being connected with Caliope.

Do you also notice that there seems to be no police force on alternia? My theory is that lime bloods were cops, and they had control over the drones, then they rebelled, the empress killed them all and replaced the drones with robots.

Knowing as karkat has his theme of being a mix of both cherubs and he has the knight class, one of the hardest to classify as passive or active, I would guess limebloods might be inclined to be either knights, pages, seers or heirs. These are the more 'mild' aspects when it comes to passivity and activity. Oh, and also, I've got an idea but I need someone to tell me what they think of it. So like, I don't know how to put it into words, but maybe pages don't really fit into this passive/active scheme. I think they kindoff shift. Like, at the start of the game Jake is being a dumbass with selfish reasons, even if understandable for his situation. Then later, in both candy and meat (yes, at least a part of meat IS cannon,) he becomes this literal and figurative beacon of light and helps people. I think this is a part of the character arc, and while weird, there's no rule prohibiting it. It's understandable Calliope didn't know shit about this, as a page did never really flourish, as far as she knew.

I see blood players as representative of responsibility, self-sacrifice for the sake of responsibility, and growing up and giving up the things that are wrong for you, while its opposite aspect breath is about being carefree and childish and accepting thing for what they are while trying to explore and learn more about the world. If lime-bloods are linked to the blood aspect in general, they could have been like the bards of old that could cause a monarch to lose their place on the throne. Of course the fushia-bloods wouldnt want to take responsibilities for their actions or give the lime-bloods the power to change the course of history with their words/songs/influence. I see them as trend-setters, standard-setters, and natural philosophers. I imagine tradition would be important to them, but it would be their own individualist version of tradition.
