Huh following this logic the Robots Eqius builds are actually his familiars suffering from his aspect the viod via a his LACK of control over his strength, yes?

I understand that you wanted to illustrate the oppositional nature of Scratch and the Horrorterrors as Rose's familiars, but there's two other examples that I feel are worth mentioning. First is Viceroy Bubbles Von Salamancer, whom Rose refers to as her familiar explicitly (p=004586), though the only power our little yellow friend grants her in the story is the ability to bypass the need for a sylladex. Then there's Jaspers/Jaspersprite. Cats, especially black ones, are a textbook example of witches' familiars, almost to the point of cliche. Jaspers' whispered secret spurs Rose into writing out the MEOW code. Further, it's Rose's desire to bring Jaspers back to life that drives her initial enthusiasm for SBURB, enthusiasm that she passed along to John. Now these two might not be the best fit for the familiar archetype as defined in the video, as the power given is not as grand in scope as the other examples, and subsequently, there isn't a struggle of willpower demanded in payment, but I think they still should be noted.

This would be interesting for a witch of void..

You know, not just Jake is a Page with a familiar/protector. Tavros has Vriska, who is more than a little bit worse to him than AR is to Jake but still fulfills a similar role as a romantically confused and honestly negative but still attempting to be beneficial mentor figure, and like Jake has an "imaginary friend" figure who is a more positive influence in the form of Rufio (although since Tavros isn't a Hope hero, Rufio is rather less effective than BGD). Dammek can also be read in the same way for Xefros, which is part of why I agree with your assessment that Xefros is a Page. I have to wonder if both of these classes have a similar "feature" - the Witch's familiar and the Page's...servant? Suzerain? It's hard to tell with these kids. Also it's kind of neat that the trolls see Horrorterrors as associated with Life while Rose sees them as associated with Void, since the source and protector of Rose's own literal life, her Mom, is herself Void-aspected. I could go into a whole Freudian analysis on this but I can do that about the Lalondes basically any time so I'll spare you. EDIT: Also pointing out John and Equius's coteries of familiars have me more convinced than anything else that Heir = Passive Witch so good job.

If Witches have a familiar (or more?), then this supports the belief that I and a decent amount of others have that Mabel Pines is a Witch of Heart. Xyler and Craz always agree with how she feels, and are yet another pair of love interests for her. However, she eventually needs to learn to not dwell among them and many other imaginary characters in Weirdmageddon 2.

Man, classpect videos are like, my favorite thing, it'd be really cool to see an analysis of some of the other classpects like rouges or pages.

We definitely need one of these for each individual class AND aspect. Perhaps having a description in the relevant class video as to how the player of that class might relate to their aspect, and vice versa.

I've heard the idea that the brain ghost Dirk is actually due to "splintering" of Dirk due to his heart powers and Jake's hope powers combined rather then being an imaginary friend. Somewhat unrelated, but I thought it was worth sharing.

I don't know man, I don't think the horrerterrors or Lord English work as examples of familiars, they are much closer to demonic patrons rather than familiars. For example there was never any possibility of Damara dominating Lord English, nor Rose dominating scratch to get them to do their will. If there is no possibility of coming victory then it can't be an equivalent struggle to Jade's relationship with Bec. I would hesitate to call that a struggle at all. Then you have the Felt, who are far closer to Lord English's familiars and they don't really fit into this dynamic at all. Anyway, you seen to conflate familiars and patrons to liberally. Familiars are supposed to be granted by patrons. I know these mythological refreces can't all ways square 1per 1 but if you have to dilute the original meaning and ignore more conventional examples that line up with the original meaning in the frist place (The Felt) you may be reaching. Furthermore Lord English as a Lord operates by exerting his will over others. If you will call him a familiar of Damara because he controled her, how many other characters now have a Familiar because Lord English was pulling their strings? Sprites also fit the peramiters of a familiar far more closely, of which Bec also becomes one. Lastly, each of the kids are attended on their home planet by large numbers of small symbolic animals. John by fireflies, Rose by cats and her consort cult, Dave by Crows and Jade by Frogs and hummingbirds. These also seem far closer to familiars who scurry to please their patrons rather than say, Lord English. Remember that the kids are being groomed by the game to be god's in the new universe where they will have access to large numbers of people who more than likely will desire to please them or ingratiate themselves with them. depending on how they decided to interact with mortals they may eventually play patron to a very large pool of people who seek power in return for becoming their affiliates. I don't think it will be right to then say that the God's will be the Familiars of the people who are seeking their patronage.

Can you make a video with Karkat's Arc surrounding the search for the "missing quadrant?" My theory is that it's family, as tied to his aspect (blood) and the Brothers-in-arms dynamic shared between the two primary Knight Class players of the story (Dave and Karkat), with their relationship being platonic in the familial sense and one-another serving first and foremost as the antithesis of their failures of parental figures in the form of genuine protection and safety in one-another. This, to the dismay of many, does directly conflict with the prominent headcanon of DaveKat as a canon relationship, but, I think it's backed by a few key areas of dialogue, namely with Dave telling John that "if he thinks he's gay, he's missing the point" and an open-ended question towards Dirk being a red-herring for the "coming out of the closet" theory and actually being centered in discarding Dave's 'mask' of the Coolguy in favor of a genuine expression of self, which seems consistent with character development we see during/after the 3-year travel. We do have to consider how prolonged isolation in Dave's youth contrasts with his environment aboard the ship, which would force him to come to terms with the unsustainable Coolguy persona when contextualized with direct socialization instead of the removed nature of online interaction. Okay maybe make character arc analyses for Dave and Karkat respectively? They have A LOT going on, nearly as much as Gamzee does (though I suppose not at the same scale of impact on the primary plot).

What do you think of the relation between Space and... I'm not sure what to call it so I'll just call it "waiting" or "isolation". Calliope implies that a part of Jade's journey with her class involves her many many years (possibly longer) in isolation on both her 3 year journey and when she's put to sleep, wandering the void where time isn't linear. But because the Witches journey often involves them defying their aspect (in the same way they defy and try to take control of their familiar) Jade ultimately comes to realize that that isn't her way to self-actualize with the help of Davepeta. Godtiered Calliope fades entirely into the background and is seemingly an ageless spirit that has existed for just about forever due to how time works, existing entirely alone in the void and doing nothing except her great act in episode 7. I haven't read the comic in a while so I can't remember a specific example with the space trolls but you might. This was something I heard a long time ago and it makes sense but I'm having a hard time putting it to words.

So something that I found in favor for sylph and witch is that, like the heir, they have sidekicks that they give power, but they tend to be destructive. Kanaya had Eridan who she helped make a wand… only for him to double cross everyone and she had to kill him. Or Aranea with Jake making him hope-splode… only to kill him after taking the sword for Jane.

So could a Mage have a familiar both in homestuck and in magic mythology? Because I have a Mage of void who has a crow motif and a creepy undead taxidermy crow

Small prediction: knowing your view on the "serving classes" (Knight and Page), I have a feeling when you get to them, with a video like this, it's probably gonna get pretty controversial. You're pretty good at finding reference material, with many things in the comic. Which are, most of the time, fairly flawless. I for one, learnt of something pivotal in a witch's arc from this video. (which will be noted for storys of my own as well as others') It's just that one (technically two) small thing(s) that leave a crack in the crystal.

Also I was wondering I believe if there was a master and basic class then a group can have two of the same aspect but would each session be limited to just one space and one time hero?

At first, I was skeptical of the heirs having familiars; but them having them as servants makes much more sense. Question, though; who would be the troll heir's familiar? You showed Arthur, yes, but that's only one for Equius; and that leaves 0 for Mituna and his post-scratch self. EDIT: Oh yeah. This focuses on Witches. Whoops. That said, what about the Psionic? He is granted immortality by the empress, and yet forced into her servitude. Could he be being forced into the role of a witch there? Even if his power is innate, it is being taken from him.

Insofar as familiars are concerned, I believe you are misapplying the message, and in too narrow a scope. All of the players of Sburb find themselves having some kind of relationship like this at some point, wherein they are in control and must act in a way which is in their best interest without abusing those who serve them. Some have an easier time with it, some have a challenge wrought with the highest of stakes. The specifics are only important to each individual who finds themselves in this position at any given point, as it relates back to each of their burgeoning self-actualization. Thus your assertion that this dichotomy is a facet of two specific classes, and use of it as a means of proof to their own duality, is false. You should take a step back from Carl Jung, and reevaluate how you see the classes, if you wish for new insight.
