I've been using Eve Audio for nearly 9 years now. SC207 and SC208. Most honest monitor speakers I've ever come across. They replaced my Neumann KH120 speakers I never thought I'd ever part with.
Thank you for the detailed review Warren and good luck to everyone entering the giveaway! If there are any questions about our monitors feel free to ask!
Everyone is gonna probably look down on me for saying this, but for the lower end of the price range speakers, I love my JBL LSR series monitors. I've had a pair of Adam A7s which I loved. Would love to have a pair again sometime. I also love the original Mackie hr824s
I’ve got a pair of EVE SC207, amazing low end and smooth high. Had an issue with the power amp of one of them being fixed and returned by EVE them selves. Good customer service
Still using the well aged Klein + Hummel O110 (the predecessor of the Neumann KH120). Also producing a huge sound and decent low end taking into account speaker size. Though the EVE 205s sound really promising according to your evaluation. Also heard a lot of praise for the Hedds. We live in great times regarding what you get for the buck 👍
I would love to hear your take on HEDD speakers, specifically the Type07 MK2's. I think i'm correct in saying EVE and HEDD are made by ex ADAM partners, would be good to see who you think nailed it best from the 3 :)
Warren...that's really honorable to hear that you took the time and understood the need to defend and correct a company that chose to be rude and unprofessional towards a fellow patron. I believe that there is no better way of getting information about a product than threw the hundreds or thousands of customers who purchase and use tech on a daily bases. Great review with the Eve's and look forward to the next video with those Adam AX8's. Stay safe and best of the next!
I have been using a pair of PreSonus Eris 4.5 speakers and for my basic use, they are working fine. I also have a set of Tascam HP-VT1 headphones which came free when I bought a DP-01 FX/CD Portastudio, but the headsets do not reproduce the bass well at all. I can still use them as reference, but I usually have to play something I am familiar with before I try to use them to mix. I went for a small set of speakers since my room is fairly small 10'x12'x10', so I was very happy to see these Eve Audio small speakers get your stamp of approval.
Watched the FX80 video after hearing about it on Z Reviews, the residential audiophile, who describes audio in really odd non pin-point ways. I am just impressed how good your small mic sounds. My Topping A90 and NDH20 headphone setup really impresses me with it's clarity to mostly hear the original intent of your music.
I have the sc205’s going on six years now. they have only got better…Not ONE issue, the care and expertise from design to building is not of this planet. As Big W (warren) noted; the extended bottom end is deep with a clarity you can mix with. the top end is sweet with those crazy folded leafy tweeters! like i said earlier- i been thumping these speakers daily for six years, not one led light has disappeared and to finish my rant I say this: the detail in listening to the speakers on the lowest of low volumes is astounding and is a neat trick to getting a vocal to sit nice in a mix, something i struggled with achieving on other speaker systems. my room is like 3 by 4 meters and is perfect fit but my guess is they could translate ok in a slightly larger room as i have never needed to crank them beyond halfway on my interfaces. i love them so much because they improved my mixing and its like i was hearing the whole spectrum in detail for the first time. thank you to all at EVE!
I`ve just got mine... but going to return the, the hiss and noise when music is not playing is to mucho for me. Huge bummer....do you have that much hiss?
@@MartinMerayoUCDM no hiss from my set up. over the years I have had moments of hiss and it’s always been when i have added something new into my chain of equipments. I have a vague memory of having hiss issues with a parametric eq until i set the gains correctly. hope you get it it sorted with a cleaner result.
@@Producelikeapro I appreciate that, and finding the right gem at the right price point is the key to continued domestic bliss! ;) Thanks so much for providing your insights, I find it very helpful..
i got a pair of isoacoustics stands and noticed a massive difference in sound quality, they really opened up the bass response and sound stage of my monitors, they were well worth the investment.
I absolutely love the EVE SC 205. Use them already for years, but I was missing the sub low end. My setup is not directly against the wall as in this demo. Got the TS107 also and now my sound is just perfect 🤩 It is very important to set the cross over frequency that fits your room. Plus the TS107 comes with a remote so you can control the volume setting and cross over frequency. Just curious if you ever use a sub in the studio. I think it is almost necessary to get a good idea about the low end in modern mixes. Would be great to hear your opinion on this.
I’ve never had monitors, these would be perfect since my mixing space is definitely less than ideal! But alas, not sure if I could afford these or anything cheaper right now, but thank you for the videos I love the channel! Your videos help me so much with learning how to better mix and master songs!
They also looks very good, the cheaper options with great budget performance is kinda ugly in general. I know its superficial to say, but I also likes to be inspired when you enter the room.
I went from a pair of Alesis monitor ones to a pair of Yamaha HS8's, my mixes. man what a difference speakers make. The Yamahas to me blow the Alesis's away!
@@Producelikeapro Hey Warren! Just wanted to check that the giveaway has ended now? Has the winner been chosen and where can you find that out? Thanks again. 🤞🏼 for better luck next time I guess aha
Great review Warren & it's easy to tell you're very impressed with these. Wonder if you'd do a review on anything Tannoy. Been around forever as you know, never get mentioned much with all the later boutique stuff. I have a pair of 502 Reveals (not produced any more as Tannoy have brought out the Golds) the 5" reveals are spec'd 49hz to 43khz +/- 3DB. Front ported, & sound pretty damn good for an inexpensive monitor especially in a small room. btw great haircut! 😁really suits you as does the natural shades of grey.
Very interesting review. I have 5” Adam’s and I have never been entirely happy with them. Maybe it’s my room! Keep up the great work, Phil from Basingstoke.
@@uwebaganz5144 Each AMT is 3.3 ohms and in parallel (that might actually be in series to get) 6.6 - there is no benefit other than that (plus I had a ton of them available as I live about 20 minutes from ESS - not even sure they are in business anymore). The mid-range is an 8" B&C covering 400 to 3k; previously had used a Davis 8". These speakers are bi-amped. A bunch of rack mounted crossovers, and Mackie Quad EQs. I think total amps is 14,400 (from memory).
@@mutantryeff ahh ok, you need to put them in series to double the resistance, but the AMTs where so effective,as far as I remember, you could have also used a resistor in series, maybe just 2 Ohms, so you now have 2 sources for high frequencies and that can cause problems, but don't have to!! The last judge is the ear and I guess you love it, that's what it's all about in the end, i have for example just 2 fullrange drivers and a sub for mixing and I love that setup for that purpose, i have measurements and eq it in cubase, the fullrange driver is a special version of a tang band driver with an underhung voice coil design, it's made for a german speaker shop and designer
A. Love you Warren and what you do, thanks 🙏🏻 ever so much. And separately for yet another genuine overview. B. Been using my pair of SC208s and am absolutely in love with them; these are way too powerful for my 2.5m x 4.5m room, but what do I care. C. My next level up: oh yeah, the monster SC3012s coupled maybe with some SC4070s.
¡Hola Warren! ¡Gracias!
I'll be honest Warren, ive spent all my money on mics, computers, sound cards & plugins that I had to use any & all Hi fi speakers until a guy gave me his busted Rocket 3s but I think those new 'Eves' are the best for small room based on your test run, if you where that impressed right away - I wreckon you've just gave me a goal to save towards after Xmas (kids man) (santa) Yeah their blinding though your lav mic so ill put up with the busted rockets & keep recording as I'm a lucky lad to have what I've got.. Thanks for show & tell 🎓👏
Munro Acoustics Egg 150 is probably the best used deal in pro audio regarding speakers, seen them go for far below 1000$ used. Best speaker I heard below 10 000$. They are not far of our custom built large soffit mounted Snake Speakers with Dynaudio n Focal drivers.
Compared to the speakers in this price range such as Eve, Neumann, I would be interested in the coaxial KSD C5 and C8 with digital equalization. They are a little more expensive. However, the coaxial design is certainly exciting. And they look great.
Mine would be these here, because my home-studio is extremely small for home-studio, but of course I can‘t afford these anymore, as I‘ve already invested too much money as (for?) a hobby-musician. So I do my mixing on headphones mostly as my Presonus Eris E8 XT are too big for my room, but I have should thought about that earlier.
Atmos? I've seen a few vids, and I've played with surround, so the fascination says, yeah, I'd love to do it, but the wallet - looking at the installation costs - says, Son, maybe in a couple of years, eh!. Saw the EVEs, saw your response, thought, they are really nice, too nice to give a pair away. So, I didn't look. Mucho surprise, when there was. Thank you EVE, thank you Warren
Thanks Warren. Even through a Lav mic and over RU-vid the low end sounded amazing. I am not equally amazed by the mid-range, but it is a high bar compared to the low end.. I know that this is an unfair question, but given the choice between SC205s and Adams T7Vs which would you choose?
These are really great speakers. I know the sound of Eve Audio: detailed, clear, and very very precise. I have heard them in Music instruments shop, compering to another speakers. Yes,OF COURSE,- I WOULD BE JUST HAPPY TO HAVE pair of these. Let me just say,Warren - it's my dream. And i will just think about this giveaway with Frank Sinatra words: " ..Luck,be my lady tonight!.. "
Yea... good to see others here still using Tannoy PBM 6.5s, as well. I’m looking at new monitors, but don’t want all that DSP-based mucking about... just a simple clean internal amp... a ‘stepped’ volume control... and the speakers... so as to have the most ‘honest’ even/flat result (within reason). Oh... and definite left & right (or ‘middle’) versions... couldn’t bear to have both monitors ‘weighted’ visually to the same side, as it were. Any thoughts..? Q: Why did the cannibal ask his girlfriend around while breaking his new monitors in..? A: Tweeter..!
I’ve been using the Eve SC205 in one of my studios for several years. They are great monitors for the price. They lack a bit of bottom end, but other than that you can get great mixes using them. Unfortunately one of mine is now faulty. The U.K. distributor isn’t interested in helping getting it fixed and Eve in Germany refuse to send me a replacement control circuit board for the speaker and insist that I have to send the whole speaker to them. So 10/10 for a great sounding speaker, 5/10 for reliability and 0/10 for customer service. As for my favourite speakers my Adam A7X are better than the Eve’s, but are also a lot more expensive and suit a slightly larger room. The Eve’s are perfect for the room that they are in.
After talking to Kevin from the Akademy comunity im thinking about getting better monitors ( not my crapy 250 Euro konsumer speakers ). Im thinking about Kali , Neumanns or the ones in the video ...
Thanks Warren. I wonder if you have an opinion of the Yamaha HS8. I had NS10Ms and Tannoy LGMs for a while, but I had to start over and went with M-Audio BX5; which, after listening to lots of my favorite tunes on, I'm now used to. They are not great, but I am familiar enough now, so my mixes translate to other systems pretty well. But my budget is improving, so I'm starting to look into other options. Love your videos, cheers.
Looks like a great little lair of air cans. Got to say though... the ring of lights would really annoy me. I'll stick with my Kali single blue light me thinks. ✌😎
@@Producelikeapro Very true .... I find it a bit hard to mix on anything else .......its the only reason I am looking to get another set just to be able to switch sets and mix on either. The same goes for plugins I have 17 plugins I use nothing else.
So the SC205 go up against the Kali IN-5, what’s your pick ? Because that is what I am struggling with right now. Not only in terms of faithfully reproducing the frequencies but also the sound stage/stereo image ? I have read reviews where the IN-5 gets called out for not having much depth/not the best soundstage. What is your take on that ? As a main monitor (neither space nor budget for two sets of speakers) which do you pick and why ? Thanks in advance!
I've had a pair of Dynaudio Acoustics BM6 A Mark II's for about 10 years as an amateur musician. If I ever made a living from music would I upgrade? I doubt but I'll let know if I get there...
Super wonderful review and demo Warren as always! These speakers look and sound incredibly great! Entered the giveaway hope to win something good this year :)
Your anecdote about the European headphone company treating you poorly reminds me of what I'm going through at the moment. I bought a pr of Austrian Audio HX55's based on 2 glowing reviews from a couple of youtube personalities and only after 10 mins wanted to send them back. Uncomfortable for my largish head but worse, an incredibly hyped upper mid range that actually seemed to create sibilance. StudioEconomik hides their no return on head phones ("worn items" as if they're underwear) and AA , the Distro and StudioEconomik are all ghosting me. Anyways, I digress it's just that that comment struck an open nerve being stuck with an expensive pr of cans I have no use for. In the end, I bought a pr of OLLO S4X and what a world of difference, from quality to fantastic service - 30 day no questions asked return policy as well. Small boutique company that values it's customers.
@@Producelikeapro Yeah ! My humble house PA. Three way electronic X over 3 stereo amps ...has lots of de coupling. Sound panels, tube traps , bass traps, loud n kleer !!!!
A Hi-Fi buff is just someone who listens to the end product on a good system. Why trash them? They pay the wages of those further up the production chain. BTW, monitors like these make fantastic Hi-Fi speakers. Very happy with the Adams A5X and a Sub. Though this video makes me want to upgrade…
