I just found my program from that production of 'Beauty and the Beast'. So apparently I saw Hugh Jackman on stage when I was 6 years old and now he's one of the biggest stars in the world. You're welcome Mr Jackman.
I saw him in Melbourne in Beauty and the Beast in 1996 when I was 12, and I got to meet him after the show as the actors would leave out onto the footpath at the end of the show. People would wait to meet them as they left. He was very friendly.
Holy cow, he's so YOUNG!! O_O Amazing to watch this knowing that he's currently filming 'Les Miserables', which hopefully will show the world what a fantastic actor *and* singer he is...
To think just a few years later Hugh would be playing one of the most beloved comic book heroes today. Gonna miss him when he's done playing Wolverine. :(
Hugh is one of the most talented men in the history of mankind. If Earth is ever attacked by hostile aliens, we need to just put Hugh before them and he will charm them into loving us within minutes...
Whenever I'm having a an iffy day or a "black cloud day" like Hugh said... this video is just so inspiring. To see where he started and how far he's come... Hugh is my absolute idol.
I remember coming here and watching this 2 years ago and being inspired. Now I'm back after watching Les Miserables. Hugh Jackman was amazing. I've never been so inspired. Seeing this again and seeing how far he's come throughout his career... I'm just so proud of him. I'm proud to call him my inspiration. I'm proud to call him my idol.
we all want him, we all want him :( I'm watching it in 2013 and i think he's the perfect man, after les mis, and wolwerine and all the musicals...TOO MUCH talent! :) ♥
Holy Shit, I saw that production of Beauty and the Beast when I was a kid! I had no idea that Hugh Jackman was in that show! He is so nice, how can anyone not like him
i still get shivers whenever i listen to my copy of his version of Oklahoma! and i agree: it's not fair at how perfect he is! why can't other guys at least be as sweet and modest as him?!
I saw this in Melbourne when I was 12. At the end we were outside, and he walked out the door to leave the theatre from back stage and a few of us met him and some of the other cast members. He wasn't famous back then and nobody was excited to see him really. Strange to think of it now!
I love this man. Granted, I'm sure I'm not the only woman who thinks so. He has countries full of ardent admirers, but with good reason. He's genuinely talented and judging by all the interviews and press I've seen about him, he's a good man.
god he was such a baby back then... but still as hot as ever!!!!!! my second fave actor - theatre and movie and whatever other form of entertainment he's done! love him
Holy Snap!! Who would have known that an Aussie unknown from 'Sunset Blvd' and 'Beauty and the Beast' would have come 'up' so-o much since 2007?!?! He's now one of Hollywood's most top men! A major fan of Hugh's and such he's such a sweet man to boot! I've met him and was floored by his kindness! And he's still so 'grounded'! Couldn't happen to a greater guy! God bless him and his family!
Actually it's 1996 and he is 28. He had just played in Sydney the part of Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, and was about to star in Sydney for Sunset Boulevard. He didn't become known outside of Australia until 1998 when the English director of Sunset Boulevard wanted him for the role in Oklahoma on the West End in London.
"You can be crazy in NY and nobody gives a damn!" LOL! Yeah, that's what makes it great. Good lord, he was so young in this video! He just gets better and better.
lolololololololololololol!!!!! To think, the most badass of the X-Men is, deep down, also an incredible song-and-dance man! AND he played the violin? Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the model for the Perfect Man!
@Muirin007 that´s why women love him.... He is a wonderful man in every sense of the word...!!! He´s a great artist, husband, father and human being... and he´s also gorgeous...!!! what more could a woman ask???
OK, I know Hugh Jackman has been part of broadway for as long as I can remember, but I didn't know he played a Disney character. But I guess for most actors or anyone into performing art gotta start somewhere to get the big break they need.
Hugh Jackman is awesome! He can do anything he puts his mind to. Disney has cast everyone except Lumiere for the live action movie version of "Beauty & the Beast". I think Hugh Jackman would be an excellent choice to be cast as Lumiere. Already, they have cast Emma Watson, Ian McKellen, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens, Emma Thompson, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad for this cast. I think Hugh Jackman or Sacha Baron Cohen would make great Lumieres. Hugh Jackman has a Journalism or Communications degree if my memory is correct. Hugh Jackman can host, he has great social & communication skills. He is an expert in wine. He is a good athlete. He has been a Tony and Oscar Awards host. He can act in movies & on stage. He can sing. He can dance. He can do rugged, outdoorsy stuff. He is a good husband to his wife. He has never had a divorce. He has adopted kids. He loves animals & has pet dogs. He is a very generous man - with his Laughing Man coffee, and doing fundraisers entertaining on his birthday. He is an expert in wine. He can do romance, drama, action, etc. movies. He can play both good & bad guys. Plus, he has aged well, and he is one of the most handsome men on the planet. He is charming, gentlemanly, funny, witty, sharp, articulate, nice, friendly. Guys & gals like Hugh Jackman. He's a good Dad. Not many people have said negative things about this guy. Almost everyone who has interacted with Hugh Jackman has only nice things to say about him. If there is one man who has the least amount of flaws - personality, behavior, physical, attitude, way he treats others, all departments-wise, it's Hugh Jackman. That's why I think Hugh Jackman should be offered the role of Lumiere. He's the perfect host. He makes all people feel welcome. And he is a fearless man. He can take on any challenge & is one of the most openminded people out there.
Kewlausgirl - I'm jealous! I have only ever been able to get a hold of a couple Snowy River episodes so I have never seen the whole series. That and the Correlli series always seem to elude me.
THAAAAANKS!!! I've never seen him in Beauty & the Beast, I just have the songs on mp3. Really rare stuff, thanks for sharing! His dad, his early career steps, as a student... Amazing stuff!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You might only know him from Broadway, but he spent several years working in Australia on stage, TV and screen BEFORE heading overseas. His Disney character was in Sydney, not Broadway!
anyone's else's mind blown that, when this originally aired, everyone took his words and naivete, but then all of his dreams of conquering Broadway came true? Makes ya think what you could do with a dream.... and an amazing voice... and having dashingly handsome looks.... screw it, nevermind...
