Reminiscing about Cardiff and the vibe during the late 90's early 00's. That was exactly how it was. Things are different now and people grow up and move on but watching it is the best blast from the past ever.
As most have already said, as a 39 year old today, I lived this life from 1999 through to about 2004. Everything is so spot on in this film. The Essential Selection references, the soundtrack, and the characters. All relatable. Watching it every once in a while always a bring a tear, mainly because that time of my life was the most amazing time.
Agreed. I'm 44 and hence spent my best years in the 90's going to the top clubs in the UK (in my opinion!) and so many after parties/clubs. Never went out in Cardiff, but I can relate so easily to all of the scenes in this film. Top film. #WestEndBar #Wobble #QueClub
I was aged 16 to 24 from 1999-2004, they was the peak years especially for funky house that golden era will never be beaten, was just as important as the 60s
Human traffic is an awesome film. Reminds me of the group of friends I had that did similar stuff to the group in the film. It’s weird to hear Danny Dyer talk well spoken now he speaks with wideboy east end accent
Best British film of all time. The script is so natural and spot on, doesn’t ever come across as forced, fake or fairytale, just raw and genuine. Pure class. And with a soundtrack to match, oh my god!!
It's so interesting to hear how accurate it is. Being born a few years after the movie came out, it's more difficult to imagine. It feels exaggerated...but it's amazing. I love the movie, it's kinda wholesome
I was 15 when the film came out, and it was everything i wanted to be doing! me and my friends were already into the drink & drugs just too young for the clubs, that soon came though.
Not exaggerated one iota, man. I was born in 82, and was at the start of my chemical journey just as this came out. Treat this film as a time machine...I PROMISE you. This IS what it was like. It was beyond sublime. Sniff out your gens version of it and jump on in! Big love
Not exaggerated at all. I was born in 75 and this was my life in the late nineties it’s more or less a documentary about me and my mates Friday night escapades. It captures that scene so well it’s the little details like the bullshit drug fuelled Star Wars philosophy session at the after party that make the film do real. I swear I have literally had that exact conversation. Spliff politics - spot on. Chatting to a mate for ages whilst trying to chop up a line - been there. This film could only have been made by someone that lived it.
Not exaggerated at all, I watched this in 2001 when I had started getting into the club/party/techno scene in Malta. That's how it was, even here. It was the best time
Easily in my top 5 movies of all time. Can relate to it as well. Never really had huge come downs but thats for another thread. Honestly its so true this one. Good old days. 😃🙂 I was in Cardiff quite a lot in 99/00 and it was mental. 😎
I turned 16 when this movie was released, but didn't see it until I was 18. First year of Uni. The parties were different, ours were more low key, but we tended to do it for the week and then recover during the weekend. Unless there was an event. Then it was probably six days a week. It's what parties were like, and the way we all behaved. I was Moff at the end of every week. No more drugs. Once I got back down after a weekend of relaxation, it was straight back onto it.
I know EXACTLY what Justin means when he says that strangers say they know the characters. I know someone like every character, even the one he plays ;)
14 years on and at the age of 29 i can still relate to how our generation lived. Things are very different different these days, with having duties and famialy responciblities, but dam its good to watch this film to reminiss the times of "whats your name, where you from? Reach for the lazers, safe as fcuk!" ;-)
"I lived that whole life for about a year" 😅 calm doooown!! Anyways I've never seen a movie that I feel so understanding of each character. Will always be a top 1 for me! Muff's the man, cmoon!! Nice1 🤗
Who Ever wrote this, was on point, those were the days, believe it or not, i watch this everyday, the writer of this film, i could watch his movies forever, it bought back a spark in me, even if its only 1 half hours or so long, but id rather have that spark for a short moent of time, than not have that spark at all, life would be mondane, ("GREAT FILM") ("WELL RECOMENDED)
Saw "loved up" a couple weeks ago, was a good portrayal, reminded me of the Swansea escape days. We were all mental during the day, but it was a loved up philosophy enhanced by the drugs of the day.Have you wondered why the human species love to dance and make music so much, it is because we think in waves, wave after wave after wave.Wondering if Justin got hold of any of the footage from John Ketchum at all. "Serious?" ;o)
I loved thru those years, and this film glorifies what was essentially a fucking dull shit time bumped up with the addition of drugs. that's why we took em
@Alannbitchh i got the tarzan and jane of jungle, just swinging of the vine this morning, i tell ya this shit makes Hare Krishna look like a bad boy........
Agreed Liam's comment below all of it. Jerry factsman "once they've assured it's nothing but good e's, it's, what's ur name, what have u had, reach for the lasers, safe as fuck!" *dances wildly the man in the tie. Lmao can't do a best of the entire films the best of itself truly a masterpiece of all time greatest movies. Is that right brothaaa nice broo nice one bruvvvvaaah. Haha it's the e's of film, as in like e nothing can top it drug wise really, but the film nothing has topped it. The light hearted comedies suck are too dumb or fake not funny but one time. But this is the greatest movie of all time, & has one of the worst titles lol cuz the stigma to the ugly side of its colloquial term. Which is a shame cuz this movie would maybe be a lot more popular if the title were more fitting to its content. As its not about traffic or slave trade. Or maybe about escaping that now thinkin of it I get the title being raped by corporate d-bags all week & that's the human trafficking business for real! Aside from sex slaves. So it does make sense but still can't help but wonder how much bigger itd be with another name. Still love it as much as I did 15yrs ago can't find it to buy anywhere :( but Netflix instant which could be gone anytime sadly. But those days appear to be back as adulterants have been made outlawed and harder to make n get than the real deals e's so it looks like a fine time for a come back new studies show the dangers are nothing remotely close to wtf propaganda told us. Like factsman stated reach for the lasers safe as fuck! Safer than drink tobacco and Tylonal. So wtf is it illegal so what if ppl want to let loose on weekends or every month or 3 mos. ideally or even 1-2x's per year. The creator of the stuff said 3mos. Is the max but all that happens is the magic gets lost in which case a break is in order & switch to weed, legalize shrooms, LSD, DMT at least DMT 15min effects. & just regulate it so people have to do so responsibly mescaline if they stay in safe place don't drive or try to fly off talk buildings or walk off into streets which they could equally do on Rx drugs & ALCHOHOL I've seen idiots ruin their lives over all the stupid wannabe legal highs and research chems that have come n gone. But this is one of the most accurate movies ever done about this substance only a few myths but they weren't over done. Logic would say legalize it & make it safer & everyone can be happy in such a fake society everyone loathes all week now on weekends too cuz of corporate greed & alchohols sales go down when better stuff is legal nearly a sole reason for all other drugs to be wrongly outlawed. Besides people adults should have the ability to make up their own damn mind and ingest wtf ever they want in a supposedly free country. Legal will never get its head out its ass. Smh or politics & political enforcers who used to be cops aka citizen on patrol. Need to wake up & help the people cuz their freedom is at stake just as much as everyone else and 2014 is an important year makes or breaks freedom forever.
