I remember this movie coming out in the late 90’s. I was a student at the time and it pretty much summed up the feeling at that time - basically living for the weekend and the clubbing and excesses that came with it. Watching it now I do find scenes that are cringy and cliched but having said that, it is very much a product of its time. Overall not a bad movie if you experienced what it was like back in the late 90’s UK and a good bit of nostalgia as well.

I love Human Traffic, but I think it was due to that pretty much being my lifestyle back in the 90s. We were definitely part of the Chemical Generation when this film came out, going clubbing and raving. This was pretty normal in Essex in those days, as our lives seemed to revolve around working to earn enough to fund the weekend drug binges!!! I would love is they did a sequel showing these characters now and what happened to them all. Some survived these mental times unscathed, others not so much (me included, as I delved into that world far too deeply and far too long) I find it a reasonably decent snapshot of those heady days.

I just kinda missed all that, too busy locking myself away watching movies of people living their life rather than actually living mines. The film still has a certain energy about it. Apparently the director is working on a sequel!

@@manvfilm maybe I heard sub consciously about the sequel. But at the time this ticked so many boxes about what we did on nights out. I love the scene where everyones chatting crap and getting on like they've known each other for years, then the drugs wear off and you get the paranoia pop up and start to wonder who the hell is this person you've been talking to for hours. Plus Human Traffic was filmed in a time when having Danny Dyer in the cast wasn't an indication of a horrendously bad film. Dyers film Pimp had the worst cinema opening ever with only 1 screening and release on DVD after 4 days, it might hold a record on that!!!

Not just Essex, everywhere was like that in the 90"s, great times.

Unfortunately I'm in my 40s now lol but wish I was young again so I could re live it, the excitement and the atmosphere will never be replaced and I never seen fights or bad vibes, just pills and dancing until the early hours and then go to someones House for the comedown spliffs oh them were the days.

@@richardbryant3169 the 90s were a mad old decade, great music,great hot hatches, great drugs and we weren't all sitting on our phones all the time. Granted I think im suffering from the hedonism of those days, especially as doing drugs seemed to be my one and only talent (not much of a talent either, is it?) But I certainly had fun in the 90s, and miss those mad old days!!!

I watched the film a couple of years ago as I tend to like John Simm in his other work (Life on Mars, Prey e.t.c) and agree about the plot of the film not being an important factor for the film. I think the film isn't as much relatable now as it would have been watching in at the time of its release. If you enjoyed this film it's worth checking out 'Boston Kickout'

For me, the film was very much a product of its time. I enjoyed it when it was released and it definitely reflected the experiences of mine and many others' weekend antics. A few of the subplots, such as the story of Koop's dad, still work pretty well. It is indeed interesting viewing through a 2020 lens.

Hey Debagio, i was never part of this world although many of my friends were. In there opinion this film perfectly captured a time, a place and a generation. It has dated but i still think it's fun even though it seems a world apart from where i am now.

I think this generation never fully grew up.

I kind of don't want to see it, it would just remind me of the bad stuff of those days. I'm sure the film tries to depict what happened in a fantastical way, but having seen what for example Trainspotting did among so many at the time it wasn't fantastic or pretty, it was nasty and deadly.

I guess no it’s almost 20 years removed you can look back at it, but it definitely glamourises that world without much negativity.

@@manvfilm I'm late to the conversation here: the movie does take some time to show the come down at the end of the night and what that's like for the characters. It's not taken as seriously as Trainspotting but it doesn't just gloss over the negatives either. This was my favorite movie for a couple of years after it's release just because of how it reflected the disjointed events during a wild weekend. Not as relatable as I age though lol

It was one that I rewatched a lot when I was younger. I was never really into that world, but it was fun to experience it through this film.

it feels like a trainspotting parody for me
@manvfilm
@manvfilm 2 года назад
I completely get that and it was probably green light because of Trainspottings success

My mother's an extra in it. The reality is its just a very bad movie, possibly one of the worst films ever made. It exists outside of reality in a really bad way
