We are taking safety precautions here, but do expect to be without electricity for an unknown period of time and may also experience storm surge. Due to USPS mail service interruptions, I will not be able to ship any Etsy orders out at least for the next few days. I live in Puerto Rico, and we go through the passes every year, wondering if we’re going to suffer a Hurricane, but as you said, I would not live anywhere else. Keep save and stay alert
My husband works at ERMCO and they make transformers. They have been working overtime in anticipation for this weather. Our county and city utility departments always send volunteers to areas in need. I live in Tennessee and we get tornadoes and there’s nothing you can do but get out of Mother Nature’s way. Be safe!! Last December there was a tornado that demolished a store just minutes from my house. This is the same tornado that hit Mayfield, KY. It jumped over my house and only destroyed that one business. Two women made it to the interior shelter just in time.

Glad you didn't get hit directly. Praying for your safety. Don't hesitate to evacuate, trust your gut. My mother inlaws parents house was lost in a fire in California just a few months ago. They had zero notice. Embers were falling from the sky and they only had time to put shoes on and leave. I was living just north of Orlando in 2004 for Charley and the wind gusts at 105 mph was wild enough.. no flooding and most in the area lost power..we watched the transformers blowing out all around.. uprooted trees and snapped branches. Relatives had a branch break thru an upstairs window.. it took them 2 weeks for power to get fixed. I guess our transformer was hanging on by a thread and kept working.. 2 weeks later they fixed it in only one hour of outage. Stay Safe! P.S. Enjoyed your "tangent" personal story.. It is unnerving when something like that is bearing down on you! 🙏🙏
Remember, flooding is THE worst of a hurricane, not wind. Never forget your pets. Be safe, and keep up with updates. The track will change every day. Mandatory evacuations aren’t just for your own safety, cities have to deal with the post hurricane and can’t send rescue teams to help people who stayed.
How did you manage to escape Irma that occurred 5 years ago? We've been living in the Tampa area, New Port Richey to be exact and made it thru Irma, which was very scary when it happened.
