Thank you buckin! I’ve been watching your wisdom for months now and it’s great to see your acts of kindness and patients when passing on knowledge! I just cut firewood for the household but you have opened my eyes to a new passion of power saws! Thank you and good bless ya billy ray!
Awesome video Buckin! Let’s continue to evolve and spread the love! I pray for your continued healing, and am feeling joy to see you getting all your equipment and vehicles absolutely dialed in to get back to cutting! Love you man! Let’s finish our week strong and with patience and kindness friends!
I have a Donny Walker mufler on my 261 with his dual pipe outlets. In fact a few years back you did a short vid with a walker 261. Another great episode sir.
It is nice to kick back and watch some of your videos, my friend. This snow has been absolutely crazy here in Northern California. Its been cuttin into my Buckin time... Haha get it, cutting into!! 🤣🤣 The dad jokes are gettin real. Grateful for the weather and water but its nice to get a break! Love ya Buckin, go on and get some! I am ready to cut but the ground is under 5 feet of frozen stuff! 🤣🤣
I just rescued a power Mac 310 from the curb. The guy ignored me and just stared at me when I said hello and asked about the saw. I said I live around the corner neighbor, nice to meet you, and drove off with the saw. I need a carb kit for carb 94496 zama, an air cleaner cover and the plastic piece that sits on top of the air cleaner cover, that the choke lever goes through. All that left of that is a piece of broken plastic that says throttle latch on it. If I could get a carb kit I know I can save this old gal. Oh, my neighbor, he had the chain on backwards 😅
Amazon, Lil Red Barn are good places to start. Just start putting model numbers in the ole web and you'll be down the rabbit hole of parts before you know it! Good hunting!
I’ve done very well with curb finds over the years. Almost everything with a 2 cycle motor in my garage is something someone put out with the garbage. I have a stihl 024 AV super hanging on the wall waiting for a top end and piston. Everything else is fine.
@@americanlivesmatter-BmanWild no worries friend. I got it running today. I bought a donor saw on eBay, tore it apart and made a great saw. I just need a lock nut for the chain cover assembly. The oem nut on both saws backs off rapidly. I used buckins video on carb adjustment and she rips. I did not even have to rebuild the carb. One fuel line was thin, like a wet noodle and probably sucking itself shut. I'm guessing ethanol. What a sweet sound those old mac's make!
That's a damn fine saw. I remember back at my job before retiring I worked on small engines, everything, I remember making chains and I had the same setup,I really miss working I tinker around my house with mowers weed eaters and chainsaws but it's just not the same. That husqvarna is a fine saw Buckin.
Thanks again Buckin for another great video!! Can't wait for the day to shake your hand. I have been selling firewood for 22 years now, love my saws, and the woods. Recently in the last year my best friend has started helping me and have partnered up. He started off not as crazy about powersaws as I am, but I turned him on to your channel, and everyday at work(we both work together at our full time job) we talk about and discuss your videos!!! He is all about chainsaws now and I love it!! We hope to chat with you in person one day, hopefully at a bunyon show, or buckinstock!! Thanks again brother!!
I run my Stihl 661Mag with a Stihl 36” lightweight bar it came stock with a 36” standard and I also have a Oregon 42” bar the weight between them all is just not comparable! I use them all but when it get into falling and running saw all day you find as Buckin said every way you can to benefit on being lighter! And the big part a lot of people over look and nothing on anyone but for us that are on the stump all day it has a lot to do with balance! With a heavier bar you get tip drop so when you are try to make your money cut you are fighting that weight all day to be straight and flat on your horizontal cuts when falling! With the light weight bar my saw is perfectly balanced when you pick it up by the rap! No drop at all it makes such a big difference you just can’t compare the two! And it is so much easier on your body! Great video Buckin glad to see you are doing better let her rip tater chip!🤟🏻👊🏻
Buckin’: I don’t have enough for this stuff… The walkers: It’s ok. Just pay us when you get back.” That’s stellar. Unbelievable. What’s the saying? Random acts of kindness and Senseless acts of Beauty…?
I learned how to file watching your videoes. At the beginning, I didn't get the sharpest chain with my hand file. So i took the raker down to .040"/ 1mm to get the saw to bite a bite more. Great chips, but the chain didn't like bore cutting. Or get a bit moody, especially in the hardwoods when i didnt reach all the way through the log. Then I started rewatching the videoes, and found out the 0.25" / 0,65mm depth again. And my oh my did that make a huge difference. When I start to borecut now, I hardly need to hold the saw. I just need to guide it a bit and swoop it goes into the log. Thanks for all the great tips, tricks and entertainment friend. Yall have a good one!
Hello. I am not a logger and also not a person with much knowledge about thoes issues. I just cut my personal firewood and help friends. I have a Stihl MSA300 with original Stihl 18" light 04 bar and chains, I not understand about all thoes size gages but my idea was to be able if possible to install kind same gage bar and chain on my old Husky 162 but in a 24" bar lenght. I very seldom use my old husky for I have went to battery power, so in my case now it with be to set up my old husky with a 24" bar just for any eventually ticker log. Do you have any advice about a 24" bar and chain size? Also what brand with be recommended to keep weight down on this my old husky witch in fact still in top performance even after so many years? Thanks in advance for your advice.
Howdy Mr. Bucken, great info for sure,I got a handful of them adapters but haven't used them yet, didn't know you would lengthen the stihl bar so it fits the
Hey Buckin about having your wood on the ground and using a tractor, well that's what we do mainly because it's all in the firewood yard. BUUUT for small stuff we recently bought a "Timber Croc" that will hold logs as heavy as you can lift into it at a nice height. So far I'd recommend one, if you didn't have a long bar it'd definitely save your back!
What an Absolutely Awesome Video Buckin!! What I've learned from you I can't thank you enough!! I'm definitely looking forward to more of your knowledge!! Thank You!! I love all your videos but I'm glad you're able to cut again!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank You Billy that u share yours knowledge, im study every Day yours video even those ones form couple years ago and getting so much very important things, U teach me how to really sharpen a chain how to really run saw to not burn it....and ofcourse to be good kind hard working person... Thank you ❤️🪓💪
The Stihl bars are all steel but they are actually hollow. They are great with a few caveats, they usually don't bend until they snap. I love the light weight but have had one of them snap right in half. Also the 36" is quite flexy and will throw a chain in novice hands if even just slightly loose. When treated gingerly and handled properly they are the best. For a workhorse bar that will be run hard I prefer the sugihara light, in my experience it is totally bulletproof
How long has walkers shop been around? I wonder if my old man bought his 066 from him between 94-97...He's gone now and I couldn't let that saw go. Just good memories of how happy he was running that saw falling on rodrick island, bella coola, bella bella in the 90's. He worked 20 on 10 off when I was growing up. He moved to Nanaimo from Newfoundland in 94 and we followed a year later. It was an amazing time and my dad fell in love with the west coast. He retired in Newfoundland shortly before he died. We had a connection through woodwork, axes, powersaws, and the outdoors...sorry for rambling lol watching your videos just really makes me reminisce and want to get back out there. Thanks for what you do man.
Nice I like to do light bar on saw buying this year. It important to me to have 93 drive links like my other two saws. Nice running saw thanks for sharing.
Best sounding mufflers you can put on a saw those original Walker mufflers, they look like they pull hard too! I’ve got one like that for my 281XP I’ve been wanting to try out but there ain’t no way I can start that saw right now. Like you I’m battling physical problems that hit me unexpectedly so I got to run the “easy to start” saws. We’ll heal up eventually.
Hello Buckin and Donny from Florida. The old boat racer ,250 cc . Cut slit and stacked about 3 or 4 chord of would with my old Macs and one ported husky. Thanks Donny for your help with that wrist pin tool idea for my right clutch side recoil 1010. Ported it to. Why not right? Take care y'all. It's about to get crazy
Those Stihl light bars really do save the back. I run them on all my saws as well. If you haven’t ran one you definitely should. Don’t know what your missing.
Just bought my first professional saw this afternoon. A stihl 461r with a 32" bar. Now I just need to find some EXJ here on the prairies and get to work! Lol
You are a down to earth guy i love you videos ,,,Donnie walkers saw shop is awesome but hear in ontario we are having a hard time finding the light bars..... keep on keeping on man ..
I have been a Husky man for years. Stihl has a so called rep for being the best saw but I think it is a lot of hype as I have never had issues other than normal wear and tear, etc. with Husky. The nick name truly fits the brand.
i bin cuttin' along time and have never herd that,, this rep you speak of . what i have seen is that there is ford guys and chevy guys and that they both are the best ,.. thx Stevie
Big difference for me is and this just my opinion… husky is all performance and stihl just lasts longer with the normal wear & tear side of things. Husky has the power & stihl has the durability for short!
@@mrtreejunkie Probably why I like Husky and little or no issues as I am not in the business and have dropped many a tree in my time but nothing like you guys. I continue to learn tips and tricks thru the vidoes of pros so thanks to all who continue to post
I have a host of Stihl’s, a 372XP, and a few large Echos in my truck for work. They’re all set up to take modified lightweight Oregon & Tsumura bars with a Stihl mount. Getting everything set up to take the same bar & chain system is absolutely the way to go!
have you posted a video of the story of how you managed to get into old growth felling etc. I know you talked about it a bit in this video but it just sounds really interesting
Hindsight I wish I would have had Donny do the 75cc mod to my 372 when I sent mine to him. I like it far better than I did when I first got my 372, but "More Power" right?! Thank you for the Stihl bar info also. Keep on Buckin'!
Buckin I have two cotton wood trees i need taken down. they are right over one of my out buildings. not good. i will trade you a 79 ford 350 camper special 4wd 4 speed, 30k on a rebuilt 400 big block new edlebrock carb seat redone. love your vids. oh ya im in west central idaho. I know you like fords. couldnt go to a nicer guy..be safe my friend.
Hey Buckin what kinda of chain did you have on the roll you made , I was just curious what your running. I would like to start making my own chain but not sure what’s a good brand. Is that exl ?
Hi mine friend Super buckin man! A have my first tassie axe and i fell a Douglas fir tree... Wow Man awesome profite.. IT DON'T STICK IN WOOD !when i split firewood TANK'S
Can someone send me a link for adapter for the 562xp to mount a stihl light bar! I’ve ordered like two different kinds from eBay and neither fit!!! Very frustrating.
Buckin, give us an update on the Castrol go 2t. Can you still find it in your neck of the woods? What else have you been using besides stihl or husqvarna oil?
