I use the low loss hoses on my 2 gauge sets, but for the yellow hose i use a regular hose with a ball valve so I can let out left over refrigerant. Nice video on showing the different options.

I learned from the older guys when I started. As I worked, their advice made more and more sense. Had knee surgery from not wearing knee pads, I grab them with my bag every time now.
