We finally get to do what we wanted to do at the end of our second 30 Days of Solar Shed - INSTALL THE WINDOWS! That's right, other than the door (which we'll wait to put on until the inside and floor are complete), we are officially closed in on the Solar Shed. Just a bit more cob facing work, and we'll get to move to the inside. Oh, and we have a new goat! Meet Bailey ❤️.

Just an idea, if you get 2 tarps from Harbor Freight and screw through the grommets with a washer under the screw head ( To secure the tarp to the underside of the front overhang. ) and let the tarp hang down. Then secure several ropes, also to the under side of the over hang, then stretch the ropes to stakes driven in the ground 10' to 12' out from the base of the south wall. Secure the tarp on top of the ropes ( Using the grommets along the sides of the tarp and at the bottom. ) and you have shade to cover the south wall and a space to work, and the cob will not dry out as soon ( You may have to wet it throughout the day to keep it moist and let it dry out over night.). Hope this helps!!!

Your solar shed is looking beautiful!!! Plus your children are getting a good workout mixing the Cobb and loading the buckets. , plus cobbing the shed. Once you get the windows in and a door on it the wind will be gone inside. It’s so nice to see your whole family pitching in to help build up your homestead. Love your videos, keep up the good work.

Nice teamwork with the outside round part scratch coat! You and the kids are really burning it up on that next day. Wow, only one hour to do the bottom half of the west wall, amazing. Such a huge difference it makes to put in those windows, it makes it look so much more done! Yay, Mark and Tina, the neighbors to the rescue with the window flashing tape! You got them all done! Also could you hang a tarpaulin to keep the sun off any new cobb? Keep up the excellent work and I'm looking forward to your next video. Much Respect from New Zealand.

We could use the cement mixer but choose not to because the noise of it plus the generator is just too much. It’s much more peaceful doing it without machines.

Have you considered whitewashing / limewashing the walls when you are done? The windows will match then and it’s an extra protection against the rain. Loving how this is shaping up.

We will be doing some kind of final plaster coat, but we do love how it currently blends into the desert. Not sure how we'll finish the color on the outside yet.

The building is not hot at all inside and the outside scratch coat doesn’t do much to improve that. It’s mostly aesthetic. We’ll finish it up after the inside is done.

Of course it will get sealed eventually. But what little cob might wash off temporarily this summer isn’t as important as finishing the inside so we can install our solar system and run the AC.
