I remember laughing when I watched the moment of Princess Zelda worrying about the upcoming conflict against evil, looks out her balcony window, and IMMEDIATELY locks eyes with the hero Link. It's like she's going, "Where the hell am I gonna find a patsy devoted enough yet strong enough to shoulder the job of saving the world--OH, there he is!" Also, in Hyrule Warriors, the character Sheik is seen as a girl.

I honestly had enough fun with this game that part of me wants there to see Nintendo do more Warriors Spin-Offs. I mean, Mushroom Kingdom Warriors would probably be a trainwreck, but a GLORIOUS one.

So they put Wind Waker in it. Also, you could tell from Zelda's expression and the way she bounced her hips before running off, when she first saw Link, she was already DTF. Funniest thing in the game if you ask me.

I'm a huge Zelda fan and Hyrule Warriors fan, and I found this video absolutely hilarious!

I actually enjoyed this game but I didn't get it until legends. Though the game does have problems, such as the mentioned "only competent person" thing (though semi-frequently I have noticed my troops taking over the enemy keeps) Also the difficulty seems to pick up once you reach master quest in the adventure mode. Hero difficulty is a nice little difficulty spike but it never did anything for me but delay my inevitable victory by about 45 minutes and give my dodge button a good spurt of cardio

I figured he'd mention Team Ninja. When I saw Cia and then I noticed Team Ninja's logo on the loading screen, I just went "WHELP."

I love Hyrule Warriors. That being said, he's right about everything.

I found this game pretty fun when playing with my friend. It was a TON easier having both of us able to take keeps and not have to run all the way across the map because of an enemy with a name and a health bar. Definitely better with multiplayer, a lot easier and removes most of the boring running across the map to the keep to defend times.

Great video as usual. Hyrule Warriors is great fun, having a blast with it.

Hey, Yahtzee, they actually did put in Windwaker, as DLC, and this isn't just the DLC that adds a few small things, it's one with a new adventure map, more story, and more characters, all in one set of DLC. If you're still paying attention, then you should check it out. It's worth it, even for a few bucks.

When Yahtzee gripes about something you gripe about its its almost orgasmic. I like that game, but sheesh Yahtzee nailed the flaws on the head.

Welp, compared to Dynasty Warriors, this game at least has this Nintendo polish to it. Everything just feels like it should and the controls are just great. Having played Hyrule Warriors first and then playing Dynasty Warriors 8 on the PC afterwards makes you realize how much better the Wii U game is. No glitchy, weirdy controls, a proper lock on system, an actually good combat system where you can dodge shit (holy cow!!), the worlds are somewhat interesting and the menus are NOT hideous mazes you have to enter blindfolded and all drugged up! And I haven't even taken this Zelda branding into consideration. It's just that Hyrule Warriors feels like a proper quality product, even though it is admittedly repetitive. But you know what to expect if you've watched a gameplay video of it before.

Even before I *knew* Shiek was Zelda, I never assumed Shiek was supposed to be a boy. lol

Nintendo's like the Disney of video game companies. What we're experiencing now is that period from Walt's death to The Great Mouse Detective where the stuff they put out is pretty "meh" for the most part. Though we still haven't seen anything that garnered the same level of dislike as The Black Cauldron.

Jesus fucking Christ, I've been told about this a few times by fans. But does the Escapist watch my reviews of game then re-use all my jokes now?

Nintendo follows the "If it isn't broken don't fix it" rule. People can complain all they want about how Nintendo basically takes the same formula and publishes it for almost every game franchise but at the end of the day they're still making money and selling games (no comment on the Wii U console itself). Not every game company has to be like Sony or Microsoft, Who by the way didn't even start off as a game company so who are they (the fans of those companies) to tell Nintendo how to run their business? Sit down please.

While I know he rips apart all games, and he has some pretty good points, I do wish he would have talked about the Adventure Mode portion of the game. It's that part that adds so much more to the game (including some real difficulty.) It also makes the bows, bombs, etc. actually useful (especially in the ALL ATTACKS ARE LETHAL maps.) The variety of stages and what you ahve to accomplish is quite widespread, from defeating the right enemy that fulfills a certain criteria, in the form of a quiz, to defeating X amount of enemies while having to avoid the ten Gohma bosses that appear, or having to kill enemy commanders in an all attacks are devastating map while avoiding hits from grunts because they can one shot you. I actually completely stopped spending time on Legend Mode and have been putting all my focus into Adventure because it's just so much more fun. And the different weapons to choose from are also pretty fantastic.

If you're looking for wind waker, they just released an updated version called Hyrule Warriors Legends which has that Link, Tetra, and King of red lions as playable characters. Also has Linkle, which you might find amusing

As much as I know you'd drill this harder than a miner in crunch time, fitting because of the cave ins, the other versions of the game, Legends and Definitive, they actually do have a Wind Waker map, two in fact, for the adventure mode, and a short post game story to go with it, involving the main cast, and also Medli, who's character I quite enjoy, almost as much as a nice bit of BBQ wings. See? They did get things right, even if it took them another go at it, this time with companion fairies more useful than "glorified target", which is just about all of them. I could go on, but instead I'm going to go conquer Hyrule. I've heard there's a nice view from the castle balcony, and I'd like to go see it myself, right before getting a new arrow shaped forehead implant, and failing to learn bungee jumping.

It's confessedly true. When I see a t-shirt in the bin at Wal-Mart that just has a simple print of a Triforce on its front, my thoughts don't go "should I buy this?", but are more rather like: "I should _not_ buy this because I should be able to demonstrate to myself that I possess at least the bare minimum of impulse-control to not randomly buy things just because they remind me of a Nintendo series that I've established a strong affection for. Also, I might actually own this one already, and should at least check the vault before I go buying another one."

So many people are losing their minds over Age of Calamity, but this video is all I could think about after the announcement. It's just a holding pattern till BOTW2 lands.

I never really played a DW game seriously, I played the demo for the gundam one and half a mission from the one piece one. I find Hyrule warriors really fun. The story missions are kind of laid out for you as a checklist but to me it made it feel like each battle was handcrafted, and it did not directly tell you what to do. You can take keeps or kill generals in different orders, and you sort of add your own strategy to the mix when you do that. The game provides a wide array of difficulty levels so you don't really know what you are gonna get when you start a mission. Leveling characters is fun and acquiring items is exciting because it builds upon the "I am a really really strong army-razing badass" theme, and those levels and items become necessary to acquire A ranks in Adventure mode. tl;dr this game did not lie in the trailers

Gotta say, even though Yahtzee ripped this game apart like he usualy does in these videos, i coudlnt find any point where i disagree. the diffrence only is: everyhting mentiont as "bad" in this video is something i call "good". i'm a Huge Dynasty Warriors fan since.. uhm... well that was back in the days when ... god its been a very long time. well! but i saw this game, was a bit suspicious at first but atfer the first 15minutes (including cutscenes) of gameplay i bursted of pure joy. hyrule warriors is indeed a perfect "Warriors" title. it does the same Dynasty warriors does since... since.. hrmm since ever and thats a friggin long time. but with zelda characters! so either side (warriors fans and Zelda fanboys) will get what thy are looking for. sure thing its not inovative, its nothing new, its nothing special. es the Houndretst version of a game we already have, with a slightly diffrent story (what is very very new for Dynasty Warriors, just remember, the last 13 dynasty warriors titles have the same firggins tory over na dover and over again but with more and more and more characters and weapons in it) BUT(t) (hihihi) its exactly what the Fanbase wants from this game, atleast me in my part. i love to get Dynasty warriors games, because its steady. i know what to expect, i know what i will get, dynasty warriors is the only constant thing in my gaming-history its the red-path showing me the way to joy and relaxing. if i want somethings pecial i look for titles that try to inovate their gerne new. dynasty warriors 8or in this case hyrule warriors) does what it does best. the same thing again, and thats why i love it. good game, highly recomended, 9/10 8because no one deserves a 10/10 ever) will play again 8and again..and again..and again in aprt 2 and as the sequel of the prequel...and as the sequel of that)

Much as I enjoy Dynasty Warriors, this is pretty accurate. Never claimed they were good, only fun, mostly with couch-co-op.

I hate when people say Hyrule Warriors was a copy of Dynasty Warriors. Nintendo worked with the creators of Dynasty Warriors (Tecmo) to make a game like it so of course they'd be similar. Although Cia and Lana were obviously made by Tecmo, they always have to add a busty girl in here and there. (Lana was actually really kickass though so I ain't complaining about her,)

As a long-standing fan of the Dynasty Warriors games I have to say I completely agree with the annoyance of allies being utterly incompetent when it comes to attacking or defending anything. However, that is why the Dynasty Warriors Empires games have always been my favorite and why they should just implement the features of Empires into all future games of the series. It lets you control which units and generals are going into battle with you and lets you direct where they go throughout the battle, where they will start on the battlefield, and also manage their troop number and morale.

For some reason I feel Yahtzee let this game off easy. I won't comment about what this means, though as I will inevitably be wrong. Have I just grown numb to him bashing one of my favourite franchises?

This video seemed a little hard-pressed to find things wrong with the game, so I'll assume the game is worth getting :)

To be fair, some of the older games of Dynasty Warriors had an edge to it and you couldn't charge your way to the boss, kill him and win, you had to thin the ranks and try not to die as you slowly get your way to the boss. The evolution of the series seems to favor more of the visual appeal of blowing away enemies like a mofo, but I think adding too much and stripping away to leave too little in return isn't a good design choice. Although, most of the stories and characters are compelling, and I think Samurai Warriors 2 is one of the best examples of the Warriors series. Battles compelling enough to matter and stories that have dramatic weight do give life to the spinoff series.

You can be a fan of something without loving everything about. Fantards are the ones that love things unconditionally. Like all the people that claim Sonic Adventure is a good game.

I'm a Zelda fan and I wasn't really that into Hyrule Warriors to be honest. Then again having a fucking roommate who constantly harasses you to help her with missions and then can't fucking do anything properly kinda fucking saps what little fun could be had. Honestly I've had more fun replaying A Link to the Past than I have any of the newer Zelda games. I mean Twilight Princess was nice but I don't wanna play it again. I haven't even bothered with Skyward Sword cause I don't have a Wii U and honestly...there's nothing on the Wii U that makes me want one either or any of the consoles really.

This game is really just for shits and giggles. Nobody is buying it for an indepth story or gameplay experience. This game was made to tickle the genitals of Zelda fans. And I think it succeeds doing that. It's not a bad game it's just a dynasty warriors game with zelda characters. And that's fine, because it's obvious who this game was made for. They marketed it as a Zelda fans dream come true, because of its large scale battles and the fact that you can play as a lot of different Zelda characters that you otherwise could not have. It's by no means a masterpiece but it's not trying to be.

The reason wind waker wasnt in Hyrule Warriors was because in the "Zelda timeline" the wind waker is in a alternate dimension... Twilight Princess and Majoras mask (which is dlc) is in the same dimension, and Skyward Sword is the beginning of every dimensions timeline and after Ocarina of Time where each timeline branches out into different dimensions.. idk why they had a "Wind Waker" weapon that Zelda could use... Maybe its just for references, but I dont believe it would technically exist in that timeline... Nor would the classic 8bit sword because thats in a alternate dimension or whatever... so appearently only items show up, and not characters.

I don't understand why yatzee hates Nintendo and its IPs so much. I'm mean sure they have made some shit games but in general most of their content they've made is pretty good. But hey that's my opinion

So, the first little bit of the video is Yahtzee complaining that Nintendo rehashes the same games over and again, but then goes on to complain about those same things in relation to Hyrule Warriors which is wholly different from every single Zelda game ever made previous, and he already admitted that he is unfamiliar with Dynasty Warriors as a franchise (which is what this game *does* play like). That makes a lot of the complaining at the beginning of the video fairly disingenuous, and while the analogies are still somewhat amusing, at this point the, "Take the piss out of Nintendo" joke is being beaten like a dead horse more than Dane Cook runs his own jokes into the ground. Honestly, he's getting about as bad as Nintendo about this kind of crap, same house (griping about the franchises. every. single. video. for a Nintendo game), different coat of paint (new euphemisms). Rest of the review was kind of awesome though, I found the latter parts funny because he was poking at the things that don't make sense or are amusing seen from a different angle: "You play as Ganon to conquer Hyrule, and then you play as Link to beat up Ganon. They don't even bother changing the signs with the rollover rate." Amazing.

Well good news for Yahtzee is that they ARE adding Wind Waker characters now.
