The driver's seat stayed in the "relaxation" position. That is why the seat won't go any lower. Hit the button dedicated for the relaxation mode until the seat will return back completely and the you will be able to lower the seat position.

Just drove my Ioniq 6 (First Edition) to Rome from the Netherlands. I was amazed at the low consumption. I did around 140 km/h in Germany wherever I was allowed. Zwitserland I stuck to the speed limit and Italy I did around 135 km/h wherever possible. 1650km. Average consumption according to the car was 181 Wh/km which I found funny, because I charged a total of 299,5kW. So if you do the maths that would be 181 Wh/km even with losses, but I left with 100% and arrived with 52% SOC. I am curious what you can do on the 1000km challenge.

SOC-scale is not linear. You can compare average energy consumed on trip vs Remaining Energy kWh (accessible via obd2 dongle).
@Mr4headCS
@Mr4headCS Год назад
@@EV_OBD Yes I noticed that as well. When I charged with a higher SOC (over 60%) my spreadsheet showed a lower consumption then if I started the charge with lower SOC. What I did on the return trip is start at 100% and top up to 100% once home. Then looked at the invoices so at least I know actual kWh charged. It came out at 199,7 Wh/km. So that is with losses. Not bad. Still I would need a dongle to get a better understanding of actual used kWh, you are right. 👍🏻

Impressive numbers and an interesting test, as always! Temperature is an aspect with respect to capacity, and companies normally give capacity at battery temperatures of 27 degrees Celsius. If capacity is different from factory data, battery temperature from the OBD could also be relevant as an explanation. See (BU-502: Discharging at High and Low Temperatures): "Like humans, batteries function best at room temperature. Warming a dying battery in a mobile phone or flashlight in our jeans might provide additional runtime due to improved electrochemical reaction. This is likely also the reason why manufacturers prefer to specify batteries at a toasty 27°C (80°F). Operating a battery at elevated temperatures improves performance but prolonged exposure will shorten life...All batteries achieve optimum service life if used at 20°C (68°F) or slightly below. If, for example, a battery operates at 30°C (86°F) instead of a more moderate lower room temperature, the cycle life is reduced by 20 percent. At 40°C (104°F), the loss jumps to a whopping 40 percent, and if charged and discharged at 45°C (113°F), the cycle life is only half of what can be expected if used at 20°C (68°F). (See also BU-808: How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries)".

Hey björn, I have a ioniq 5 and charging att tesla super chargers are limited to 42 kw and results in this all the time. I contacted tesla about this, they mentioned that this is a bug on the supercharger side and they have this on their roadmap for software update for q2 release. I just see a lot of people blaming the e gmp cars for this and it is misinformation, which can be quite detrimental especially if you are a car journalist. BTW I have received 150 kw on a 400v based charger with my ioniq 5! I think it would be good for you to mention the limits of 400 v architecture on chargers with low amperage. (Saw your BMW ix video)

So if I buy electric car that means more money for car and electricity on fast chargers, because I don't have ability to use my apartment electricity which is cheaper. It's a shame that the Ioniq 6 doesn't come close to the very low values of the original Ioniq either. So it seems to be about on par with the "old" '21 Model 3 LR, but which is AWD. Of course, these are still very good consumption figures, but I was definitely hoping for more.
@michaelcollier8768
@michaelcollier8768 Год назад
Eh? Not quite. The original Ionic was a small car with a light battery and a low range. You CAN'T add battery weight to get more range and not lose a lot of efficiency. As far as Bjorn's test goes, the Ioniq 6's efficiency is pretty darned good when you are comparing 9 degree test conditions with 25 degrees for the top Tesla LR M3. At the latter temps, the Ioniq 6 should match or beat the top Tesla on Bjorn's list for EFFICIENCY. Tesla's are great cars and the Tesla EV system (charging and software, etc) is way ahead of everyone else. But the Ionic 6 is a BETTER car.
@Hans-gb4mv

From my first drives with the Ioniq 6, I would say that it is actually not that far off from the original Ioniq which I drove for 4 years. Already been able to push it below 9kWh/100km on one of my drives.
@Zedus-rl9hp
@Zedus-rl9hp Год назад
@@michaelcollier8768 The Ioniq 6 is mainly longer than the Ioniq, which tends to benefit consumption. The Ioniq 6 is between the Model 3 and is almost identical to the 2021 at 2°C / wet road. If you also include that the Model 3 has AWD, the Ioniq 6 has a noticeably higher consumption. Other testers have shown the same result. The weight is almost negligible over long distances. How the Ioniq performs in warm weather remains to be seen, but depending on the region, you have to assume the worse value if you need range. What the "better" car is is subjective

@@AnoopSinghRanhotra that's correct (at least that's how I understand it in a plausible way). Yeah, really don't like the TomTom navigation that Hyundai uses. Went to a concert on Saturday, on the way over I used Waze which nicely sent me around a major city on the highway. On the way back, as I needed to charge, I attempted to use the built-in nav. It wanted to send me throught the major city and also had some other strange choices where I had to essentially overrule the thing.

No, my Ioniq 5 consumed the same for the heater at this temperature. ECO Mode doesn't do anything on the motorway, particularly not with the RWD. However, driving at 105kph on the motorway (avg. speed over ca 70km = 103kph) I had a consumption of below 15kWh/100km with my Ioniq 5. So something is strange with the consumption of this Ioniq 6 at 90kph.

Wow, I was hoping the efficiency numbers would push the bar higher and edge out the Tesla since it is reported to be better aerodynamics. Not sure how the EPA fuel economy/efficiency numbers were obtained then. The report was they were in line with the Lucid and top of the chart. Something is not right with those EPA numbers. Thanks for doing the tests and showing us the numbers. It looks like Hyundai has some work to do to sort out the battery conditioning and some of the rough edges. Hopefully they will get that all sorted out, but it appears it isn't going to be that Model 3 killer.
@Hans-gb4mv
@Hans-gb4mv Год назад
I think the car will be similar to a Model 3 if you were to test them in the same conditions. The 15 degrees difference in outside temperature does have some impact and in this case would probably favor the Model 3. And that is immediately the biggest difference between real world tests and lab tests like WLTP and EPA. Those lab tests happen under controlled conditions, eliminating every variance. You place the car in a climate controlled chamber, give it perfect conditions and let the computer drive a test pattern. And then you measure the consumption. For example, I'm currently doing my first drives in my Ioniq 6, and today, according to the Bluelink app, I drove 80km and had a consumption of just 8.34kWh/100km. That is of course at lower speeds and in nicer weather (sunny and 20 degrees)

Depends on the market. The Ioniq 6 kills Tesla here in Canada because the long range base RWD is the same price (54.9k) as the base LFP Model 3 which is nice but no contest. The Model 3 Performance is 72k! No thanks. The M3 Long Range is coming back but will probably be at least the same price as the M3 Performance. The Ionic KILLS both here in Canada for price and performance. Plus, Tesla financing, at 8%, is 2-3% higher than Hyundai.

Amazing how prices differ between countries. The Model 3 qualifies for an $8,600 government grant here in NZ, which makes it $58k for the RWD. We'll be lucky if the Ioniq 6 is less than $90k (the 5 is similarly expensive here).

They make their cars too heavy and they have too many « toys and whistles » on board that impair concentration. The « KISS » approach of engineering should make their cars cheaper and reach more customers to join their ranks.
