Hi Tristan, some 30 years ago as a child my father taught me how to fish with long bare rod and a fly but moving downstream only. Now I got proper tenkara gears and catch mostly browns here in Bulgaria. By watching your videos I have learnt a lot about the technique you do and became a very inspired angler. Greetings from Bulgaria

One of your tenkara disciples here in the Iowa Driftless. Two years ago I hardly ever fished; since then (mostly due to your inspiration) I get out once or twice a week. Mostly wild browns here with the occasional stocker/hold-over rainbow. The Iowa Driftless also has the westernmost creek in the continental U.S. with native, wild brook trout. Thanks for sharing!

Southwest ID (Nampa). So far I have tried to fish all the local ponds, lakes and lately trying to hit the rivers like the Boise river and Payette river. I had a bad injury to my right arm a year ago so my Tenkara days have been postponed for a bit. I have been tagging creaks in the meantime on Google maps for when I can start exploring. I started getting back into fishing right when covid started. I started with bass and crappie. I started on trout last spring. Tried my luck with fly fishing and failed miserably but haven't given up. You keep me inspired along with the tuber "Bass'N'Trout" who is mainly a spinning reel genius with trout. Finding the spots and learning the lures is where I am now. Hoping to become proficient in Tenkara someday soon though. Like you, I prefer places less traveled or fished. Thank you for the time you spend sharing and editing.

Having bursitis in my right shoulder at 71 years of age, I quickly taught myself to cast left handed - it's easier than you might think. NOTHING is stopping me from getting out and fishing.
@TheDude1776
@TheDude1776 2 года назад
@@chriskight7080 Sorry to hear about the bursitis. I've been out bass and crappie fishing casting lefty just fine with the spinning reel. I've only postponed the fly fishing. I've attempted going for trout and have caught 1 river trout (rainbow) with a worm. Haven't had luck yet using Panther Martin's or marabous but I have been trying. Even with my father in law 50 feet away catching fatties. I'm still a novice with trout. But trust me, I'm still getting out there even with no bites. The scenery and alone time is worth it on its own.

That stream was indeed a gem! I’m in Virginia - my fishing is approximately 20% for native brook trout in small mountain streams, and 80% for sunfish in a couple local public ponds. Those percentages are the reverse of my outings long ago. But the aging process makes the mountain treks a bit less ambitious these days - but valued more. Nearly all my outings now are tenkara; only rarely does a conventional fly rod tag along. I greatly look forward to your new episodes each week!

I’m from Moscow, Russia. Wild trout is almost impossible to find in the region, but I heard it exists in one creek. So, I have to fish for different carp like species. Last year I went to the Kola peninsula where I caught trout, grayling and even pink salmon on a tenkara rod. Also had great success in Bulgaria. Next week I’m going to the Caucasus mountains for hiking and fishing. I bought an SUV and equipped it for sleeping after watching your main channel (I’m actually camping in it right now), but I have to rent a house because my wife and cat are going with me :( P.S. I'm from Poland. I fish, or at least try to catch, pike, perch, Zander. There is also a lot of carp family fishes in here. But the major target for me is chub. I try to catch them on fly rod, using foam bug imitation. Fly fishing is something very new. It's to far for trout fishing. So if you don't have what you like, you have to like what you have😉 I've found your channel, when I was doing some research on RU-vid. It's great. The best thing I can see every time, that there's nobody around, just you, and the nature. In my local rivers, sometimes there's more fishermans, than fishes in the water.

I'm in Virginia and was inspired by your videos to get a rod and take up fishing again. I haven't used it yet, but hopefully soon. I was reluctant to fish a local stream because of the algae bloom, but looking at that stream it doesn't seem to be an issue. Thank you for all the great content!

Hey Tristan, my name is Jayce. I live in northern Utah but I am originally from south east Idaho. I originally got into Tenkara because a friend of mine showed me his dads Tenkara gear and took me out fishing with it once. It sucked miserably though and we caught nothing. Somehow I happened upon your channel and saw how fun Tenkara is supposed to be. I ended up getting a rod and have absolutely loved it since. I will say the beginning of the video was actually somewhat encouraging for me as I feel like I’m the only Tenkara angler that has times when it seems like I can’t avoid getting snagged. Thanks for the amazing content!

I’m in Central AZ in the furnace desperately wishing I was in that creek. Such a healthy and vibrant place. Those were some happy fish.

I’m watching from north Georgia. I love fishing and I chase every species I can. My experience with trout so far is limited to stocker rainbows at a nearby mountain creek but, I am interested in branching out.

I’ve started watching because I never heard of a tenkara rod. I’m an American living in Canada. Started fly fishing when I lived in Washington State. Your area is the same environment as the area of Washington I lived in. Fishing this small creeks looks fun. Thanks for sharing your adventures

I watch all your videos. I’m in northern utah and fish only in northern utah so far. I only fish small creeks and smaller rivers such as the Logan river. I have never been skunked since switching to Tenkara style. Thanks Tristan

Centennial, Colorado. I'm new to tenkara fishing and I love your videos. They really bring the "everyone can fish" attitude to the fly fishing community. I have yet to even land a fish (on a tenkara rod) but I'm looking forward to fishing for brookies up in the mountains this summer. You should fish more colorado streams!

Hi I’m from Deep South Texas. San Benito to be exact. Loved your video. I can’t wait to get my first ever tankera rod I fish for large mouth bass and I’m always missing my target and landing my lure on the bank of the canal. The only trout around these parts is speckled trout. And you only catch those on salt water. Stay safe and keep making those videos thier so entertaining I love all the places that you go to. So beautiful

Twin Falls, ID. Started Tenkara fishing a week ago after being inspired by your great videos. Caught my first rainbow trout, 12", in a nearby creek. This weekend I went back and caught a 9" & a 12", both rainbows in the same creek. I want to head up to mountain streams soon.

South Carolina, mostly trout fish for brookies and rainbows in the southern Appalachians, but have fished many areas of the eastern & western US. Traditional western fly fisher. Just bought my first tenkara rod! Can't wait to try it out.

Northern Utah. I like to catch trout, bass, catfish, and crappie. I do a mixture of fly fishing and traditional fishing. Gonna be getting a tenkara setup here soon and can’t wait to try it out!

Coos Bay, OR; Out here the coastal creeks are so very brushy that they are really hard to fish so most of our fishing is on the lakes and in the bays and ocean. Although I do know of a great place up in the headwaters of the Umpqua where there are pretty big browns that I would like to try the Tenkara style of fishing on. I love those high mountain / desert streams and creeks. Love your vids and look forward to being a little jealous each time I watch one. Jerry 😎👍
