As a young boy (and even to this day) I have always peered into the cockpit of the airliners while departing the plane, only wishing I could go and sit in the cockpit. In those early days, the 707, 727, DC10, I couldn't believe how anybody could learn and understand so many gauge's. I did get my commercial pilots instrument airplane for single and multiengine land. I learned and flew the steam gauges for that's all there was at the time. Due to medical issues, I had to stop flying and it broke my heart. When I found out about x-plane a few years back, I was able to once again soar. I practiced approach after approach, holding patterns, etc.... I couldn't have been happier. A few months back I started learning the glass cockpit with the g1000 and gtn750. Never had anything like that. Then I purchased the flight factor a320. I have learned enough to program the mcdu, fly approaches, but still so much to learn. I can't tell you enough how grateful I am that you are doing these videos. As a boy, you big jet pilots were bigger than life to me. So with the cockpit in front of me (what a dream) and an actual airbus pilot leading the way, well no words to describe it. Thank you!

Well I can’t describe how happy that comment makes me! It’s people like you that appreciate aviation and flight sim with the drive to learn that keep me wanting to produce this content. Blue skies and tail winds good sir!

Me too - always wanted to be a commercial pilot - got convinced by parents not to. Then found Xplane and have been learning ever since - going through Boeing and Airbus systems - will wait awhile for Embraer... but thanks so much for these videos!

Superb. It looks like X-Plane actually works unlike MSFS 2020 default A320!

Man this is extremely helpful ! My grandpa was a pilot in the military and then airliners his whole life and I have recently gotten into flight sims and after learning a few GA planes and then just this month the 737, finally got this airbus and it’s very different lol . So I appreciate this step by step guide with so much insight from you ! Wish you the best of luck , stay safe !

It's very interesting watching this. I have always been a Boeing guy, and have been flying the pdmg 737ng for quite a while. I started watching your videos because my buddy wants to sim with me and is more of an Airbus guy so figured I'd check it out. It's really cool how the little nuances between the aircraft work. A lot of similarities, but a lot of differences. I will say, my buddy told me that the Airbus is a much easier aircraft to fly with a lot less switches, and maybe it's just the fact I'm still used to the 73, but it seems just as complex to fly the A320, just with push buttons.

amazing work captain, thank you! can you please test and compare the flare attitude of both Toliss and FF vs the real thing. one more question, are you using the xp11.30 experimental flight model? thanks again and keep up the great work.

I have really appreciated this series of videos but I've had, until yesterday, problems getting the auto-throttle to engage on take-off. I studied the this particular video several times to try and fathom out what I was doing wrong, but I didn't realise until I did several 'experimental' take-offs, that I wasn't advancing the throttles quickly enough to the FLEX detent. This action was hard to overcome as I've been a 'Boeing' and ''Turbine' man, and advancing them this quickly was hard to overcome. I would suggest that you emphasise this aspect a bit stronger so we all get the message. Many thanks. TG

Thanks for that, I definitely will. I’m in the process of updating this entire series with better audio, more information and updated aircraft as well.

Very nice! Are you flying the Flight Factor A320? Have you tried the Toliss A319, and if so, which one do you prefer? I'm trying to get the hang of the Toliss...thanks-
@terrygale4559

It would also be very helpful if methods for non-standard take-offs were included, e.g. SIDs often include a heading to fly after on departure, or a speed restriction below 2402/250 kts. How to tackle these situations would be appreciated. Regards. TG

Hello acdelta57 (sorry, don't know your name) Thank you for your nice videos about Airbuses (I'm huge fan of a320 family). I'm learning so much from them. I have a question to you, what kind of hardware do you use at home for the sim? By hardware I mean joystick, rudder pedals, etc. It would be also to know if current joystick for PC are more or less accurate to fly airbus planes, especially a320 family.

I noticed in this segment that the terrain function was not on. Can you comment on how your company used this and the weather function. Is it terrain on F/O side Wx on pilot side or...? Under what circumstances do you use either and how? Great video. I am going to purchase the Toliss in the next couple of days after having flown many hours in the FSLabs A320. I only use xPlane now, so this should be good.
@V1Sim
@V1Sim 5 лет назад
Bill Barrette typically we turn the radar on before takeoff and off after landing, however when it is clear and no weather I keep it off to save myself some unnecessary radiation lol as far as terrain mode, this is required when going into an airport or departing an airport that is designated “mountainous terrain” which will require 1 nd to have terrain on and the other wx, or both in terrain mode. I don’t have the exact wording for designating an airport Mountainous terrain but on our company charts it’s depicted at the top and highlighted in yellow. Basically any airport with terrain near it you can bet it is one 👍🏻 glad your enjoying the content

Great videos and your time spent on them is much appreciated. Can I trouble you with one question ? I was wondering why, on such a long rwy, the take-off report you used didn't ask for a flex TO. I thought that most carriers are keen to use flex wherever possible. Thanks in advance.

He said this take-off was especially designed as a TOGA take-off so I guess they just wanted max perf anyway

18.30 'And right to the command bars, we are in nav mode' did you hit a button somewhere? sorry but this is all new to me.. thanks for the excellent tutorial...
@V1Sim
@V1Sim 3 года назад
Nope, upon reaching "flex" or "toga" the command bars should go into SRS mode, giving you a target to pitch for.

Great part 2 thanks. Smiled earlier watching another youtuber giving a 319 tutorial who has obviously watched your videos or read the Airbus manual overnight. Very informative as usual. On take off the 3 degree you mentioned = 1000ft/m? I couldn't reference what you were referring to on the PFD for 3 degree. Thanks again

I believe he meant, every second increase the angle by 3°
@ayonsaha7963
@ayonsaha7963 4 года назад
The pitch attitude angle is supposed to increase at a rate of 3 degrees/second upto around 12 degrees ish. Pilots never go above the 20 degree mark.

Some questions to the takeoff performance, hopefully someone will see and answer this! Your V1 on the irl sheet was 126 and if you’d have aborted at 125 there would still be more than 9000 feet left over after a successful stop?? How can this number be so high, doesn’t that mean that V1 can be way greater than 126 or are other factors than just remaining rwy distance? Like couldn’t you have aborted at 131 and still stopped on the runway as you likely wouldn’t need another 9000 feet just for these 5 knots more?

Hey Francesco ! This is the flight factor a320 ultimate . I just got it today , there is also the Toilis a319 and 321 but I didn’t like the detail of the cockpit , from what I saw it might have a more accurate fms but otherwise I think the flight factor is better . Could be wrong but it looks nicer and seems to have everything. Very different from a 737 but it’s very cool!

Excellent instructional..However..why would I want to do a FLEX take off in a simulator? The engines never require maintenance! LOL! ;-) Thank you for taking your time to create these videos! Im Private Pilot since 2004, age and health has restricted my flying abilities. So happy I have x-plane as a substitute!

Question. Why is the THS blank?? When I do the weight & balance, I get, i.e TOWCG 30.2 and Stab DN0.47 (rounded to DN0.5) and using Config 2. Do you have to input the DN0.5 in or leave blank?? What is the rule on that??
@Wingineer

A quick question. Why don't you input the THS setting into the T/O perf page in the MCDU?

Hi please could you help when I take off and air borne after disarming the spoilers the heading inductor comes on I tried turning off the fd's to reset it but the speed indicator goes into management mode which I wanted but the heading doesn't go into management mode how do I fix that please
@sabre9970
@sabre9970 5 лет назад
Thanks for the great videos! Unfortunately FF A320 seems soo overpowered on take off, you're following the FD during FLEX T/O, but the actual speed is growing way above the speed indicator, and that looks very annoying
