I’m Tossing up the softball. lol When you started playing and then vlogging you may have averaged 1800-2000 + hours of play a year. About an average working year at a normal job. Now that you have moved up to usually the biggest game in the room, do you find it necessary to still work similar hours or have you been able to work less hours during the year still being able to improve your win rate. GL friend
I honestly don’t mind vlogs like this. A lot of the time I like to have some sort of poker vlog on while I’m getting ready or eating. So some content is better than none. Keep up the content!
One of the reasons I've always loved your vlogs lex is because you show the rawness of it. It's not all sunshine and rainbows and you wear your heart on your sleeve sometimes. Is nice for the rest of us to know we're not the only ones
Lex, you don't have to make the content all big pots. Like you said - poker is often the smaller hands... and these are the ones that actually make you a winning or losing player. Some other vloggers show every hand, even the hundred hands that they insta fold. I speak for myself and I'm sure lots of others... we want to hear your thought process, even on the little ones. Don't try so hard to make it "exciting", show us your whole session, even the little ones. Makes it easier for us to remember that the poker WE play is the same played by everyone else... lots of folds, etc.
Whazzup Lex. I saw ur video from last month where u talked about all the negative comments. You summed it up perfect its a toxic world. To hell with them,l love what your doing that video was entertaining as and I always say if they are not talking about you ,your not doing anything worth anyone's attention. Keep the faith. Study study study away from table. I love the way you look at situations on the table.i want to see more. I have been full time 5/10 player in the past and I have some game as well. I really enjoyed videos ,I think if u could hone in some of that aggression into some pin point lightning your gonna be one hell of tough opponent in bigger games. You are a force already. Nice work nice work NICE WORK
Lex I enjoy the reality of a grinder, win or lose I think it’s important that you continue to include that. Great material Lexo!! What kind of advice would you give someone on beginning blogging? I’ve been playing on and off poker since the big boom in 04
Question: reads you get from other players to see if they are bluffing or if they have it, also any personal tricks you may have to get someone to call you or to get them to believe you have a strong hand.
How do you decide when to show your hand and when not to, when it’s not required? Or when you show just one of your cards? What’s your thought process those times when you could muck but choose not to.
Question… I regularly play the $5/10 games in my room. This summer, I’m looking to try new casinos and card rooms. When you go play a new room, do you always jump right in the biggest game? Do you do anything different being the new guy vs the reg? I’m sure it’s probably different now, but curious how you’d handle this early in your career.
@lex you should go to blackhawk colorado for a vlog. Plenty of good hiking etc. and it would make for good content. Also I think adding 30 second food reviews or showing us cool beaches etc. is always interesting and good for the vlog. People can skip ahead to the poker if they want. Show us the life of a professional poker player/vlogger
If you liked that Cobb salad, then you only have "up" to go from there. Try one that is not served in Stryofoam next time. I think you'll like it even more! When you do that, I'd like to know if you did like that second Cobb salad even more than your first one?
What goes in to your decision to leave a game. Is there a time limit, an amount of money you want to win or an amount you are willing to lose or because you are feeling out played. Or sometimes just not your night. This is one of my hardest decision points
I have learned that it's good to set a flexible time limit. If you hit the time (5-6 hours is about as much as anyone can play their best), and the game is really, really good, I'll stay. What I do then is set a timer for every hour, and evaluate. If the last hour has been good I'll give it one more. You have to listen and trust that little voice. If it tells you to leave, do it. I can't think of one single time that I have stayed after that and actually won.
Hey Lex! Love the vids. As an aspiring fulltime content creator, what advice do you have for someone looking to make it. The niche I make videos on seem to have a low RPM in comparison to poker vlogs, and I'd love to see the analytics for poker and how the breakdown is on how to do this as a living. Would love your insight on this. Thanks!
Hey Lex, The highlight poker hands will come & go but many of us watch your poker videos ....because of your thought process during your hands over your entire session. In the long run , its about the best poker decisions and our own poker execution while handling the emotional variance. My only question. Deep down how much more time will you try to keep playing poker for a living...? from Ron in San Diego , Calif.
Hey Lex when you began your poker career what was your starting bankroll and what games of NL did you play? 2/3 5/10 etc? Really enjoy your content and thanks for all the insight
Hey Lex. I watch your videos all the time. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to vlog. If you can pick any 5 people to play poker with dead or alive who would they be? Thanks again man!
Question Lex; I play 1/3 and they recommend tight & aggressive strategy? Do you agree with that? Don’t you think that strategy makes me predictable? When TAG players raise, everyone folds, and when they raise, TAG players folds! Following cheat sheet is also boring 😢 so if I mix my range, I am not following recommended strategy! What are your thoughts?
Been missing your vlog! You are in the top 3 of my favorite creators. You post are always relevant for multiple levels of players. So now my question...what can I do to stay patient when playing cash (1/2) or tournament?
Hey Lex, your vlogs are the best… Question: when you’re filming for a vlog do you keep your phone recording for multiple hands at a time or do you only start recording when you get a strong hand you believe you will play? Also, You will miss 100% of the kisses you don’t go for
Nobody is a fan of Hit and Runs, especially if it's your money they are running away with, but in the end, it's their money. I don't hit and run unless I really need to leave, and that's rare. I do tend to play "Small Ball" for a while after a big win out of fear of giving it all back. I'd have to get some really great hands to ignore my Small Ball strategy.
Well Lex I love watching your videos.. I’m also on a serious downswing in poker.. my aggressive wide range style of play made me a lot of money this past year but that very style of play is backfiring the past month. Should I take a break or change my style of play or play like a NIT or is it a passing phase..
Lex! I manage the sportsbook at Hard Rock. Been watching your content since the early days. Swing by next time and ask for Rhett and throw in a parlay for the Vlog!
I’ve had two sessions like this now where I’ve played for close to 5 hrs and either won or lost by a small margin and honestly those feel really good because it just means you’re playing good poker even when the deck isn’t going completely your way. I’ve also had big losses and big wins so it all just close to evens out in the end usually with you ahead if you’re a better player. My dad has always claimed since I was a kid that he has terrible luck and so does his dad… I’m not really the superstitious type, but my question is, do you think that luck is a thing and that some people just shouldn’t play luck involved games?
Hey brother! Love the content and enjoyed meeting you at best bet jax recently. Biggest question is other than bankroll management… what’s the best sign you’re ready to jump up in stakes? 1/3 player wanting to go to 2/5 and 5/10.
Yes, I have a question: how many orbits does it take to really understand what kind of players are round the table? How do you tell the nits from the card dead and disciplined?
What are you thinking on the three pair hand? Not only do you lose to any 10, but you either chop or lose to any ace as well. Why call the initial bet? I would've thrown A2 away as soon as somebody breathed on that pot.
Love your hustle Lex. Here's a question for you if you want to answer it. Why do you think you get so much hate on your twitter? I saw your last post about the dog park thing, and some of the responses from people with decent followings were just vicious.
How do you know when you’re not in the right mindset to play poker? Some of my biggest losses have come when I was distracted by life events or got too tilted at the table. How important is mindset in playing poker?
Hey Lex. I’m a senior in college graduating in a few weeks. I have a job lined up and want to really double down on poker. Not sure how I should go about trying to be successful in both my career and in poker rooms.. any advice?
It’s a real life like session. The final result is dependent on one (or just a few) big pots. I play lower stakes than you, but the outcomes are still dependent on few pots. I wonder do you get a lower result on vlogs like this versus vlogs where you get out of line in order to generate more interesting content?
After the decent runs in MTT's you have shown on the vlog in your local area, on the assumption you are going to the WSOP this summer, how much do you plan on spending o buy-ins for the Series?
I would like to know ..when you play high stakes do they comp you at all ..like free room if you are staying there or free food..? I know the higher thr stakes the higher the rake so more profit for the casino...Tke Lex..
Hey, nice Video :). I would Like to know what Programm you are using for editing the vlog (showing the Board and stacksize for example). Thanks in advance :)
That's how my sessions have been lately. Being down a tiny bit or up a tiny bit or chopping huge pots all night etc. Just can't seem to win any huge pots lately
No one includes what you charge per hour to play as a base rate. You left down $145 but after 5 hours at let's say $30 an hour, for minus 295, would make the reality sink in to newer players watching, thinking about trying the life
How do you deal with a downswing where every session your running I to Quads. 3 1/2 months 1-3 sessions a week ran into Quads 25 times. Plus getting it in with the best hand 90% of the time losing 85% of the time.
2/5 reg interested in shot taking/moving up to 5/T. How do the two game compare? My guess is that while 5/T has more strong players, the average rec player is the same from 2/5 to 5/T. Are there enough rec’s at 5/T to make it worth it?
